Jessica is a miracle worker!! I went in with the worst box colour disaster you could imagine - my tips were darker than the roots and it was a whole thing. Okay, this review is LONG overdue. I found Jessica on Yelp after a very long search for a hair stylist. I stopped seeing my last person in 2018 and after that only had a professional haircut once in 2021 by someone else before finding Jess in 2023 (I believe it was 2023). I went to Jess with the goal of growing my hair out for my wedding and WOW I wish I'd found her sooner because not only did she help me achieve growing out my hair, she also gave me beautiful highlights (which I was afraid to get at first) and NEVER got cut happy with me (meaning she never cut too much). I moved out of state before my wedding but was dedicated to Jess and the process we started, so when I had a couple of opportunities to go back to California, I made SURE to have an appointment booked with her. First things first - let it be known that prior to my visit to Jessica's salon, I had virgin hair. I've never dyed it before and I'm as low maintenance as a girl can get. I've been meaning to dye my hair for awhile now but I finally decided to go for it. I came across a picture on IG with a color I really loved and showed it to Jessica. She and her assistant, Jasmine, immediately got to work on what colors they should use to achieve that same dark burgundy/purple color I was looking for. She gave me a detailed step-by-step on what's going on since I was absolutely clueless. After darkening my base (I had dark brown hair with natural highlights), applying the color to my ends, toning, and shampooing/conditioning, my hair turned out EXACTLY the way I wanted. I am so in love!! Jessica also recommended what products to use to have the color last longer (i.e. red shampoo/conditioner) and gave me samples of what they used at the salon. I have thick hair, long hair, and curly hair. It can be unwieldy, and I've come out of top rated salons with bad/weird haircuts. There's just a lot to manage. Jessica did a beautiful job cutting my curls with scissor. It's been two weeks since my appointment with her, and the more time passes the more I realize what a seriously good job she did. I think it's going to be a cut that will also grow out beautifully. She cut it pretty quickly, which kind of made me nervous -- my thick hair usually can't be managed in less than an hour. But now I think she just had an integral understanding of how curly hair works and how to reign it in. She spent the entire time talking to her "assistant" and gossiping with another client. Over priced, and mediocre, I will find someone else. Jessica knows how to do exactly one hair cut--long layers. If you need extra assistance on how to go from long or medium to a shorter cut, she will let you down. If you want to transition from coloring to natural grey, she will talk you out of it. if her clients are expecting a quiet, calm experience, they will be left disappointed. I hope Jessica realizes one day (sooner rather than later) the younger women with long, luxurious layers will find someone else and they feel more comfortable eventually, a new "expert". Jessica will have to face the dreaded "old women" haircuts and style and its way too bad she isn't cultivating those relationships now, she is rapidly approaching that demographic herself!!!
