POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Brought in clothing items for alterations. After confirming the measurements that I wanted on a garment, the tailor decided to change the measurements at his own discretion without notice. At pickup he informed me that he felt the measurements that I requested would be too short for the garment. Once I was made aware of this decision by the tailor, I requested that the garment be cut to my specifications. He informed me that I could come back in 30 min and the item would be ready for pickup. Huge inconvenience to the customer and no discount offered. Avoid this tailor! Many other tailors in the area that will follow instructions and complete the job right on the first time. read more

Dropped 3 pieces to get done and I needed them by today, NYE. Knowing that it's NYE I asked PRIOR to leaving my items if it could be done and was told it would be. He even wrote the time of 6:30pm and date on my ticket. I called to be sure nothing changed before the pick up time and he told me they were now closing at 6pm!!! I live in North Carolina and if I wouldn't have called would've been SOL seeing I am leaving tomorrow morning. Not only that but now I have a stain on my WHITE shirt that was NOT there when I dropped it off. Then one of the boys there had the audacity to ask me why I was getting upset over the phone!! If I could give 0 stars I would. They have the worst customer service, including the owner, I have experienced in a long time. Unless you pay for a "rush" job, your items will not be ready on time. They make excuses for not having the work on time. Beware, please get a copy of how many items you are turning in. Not common practice for them to give that to customers. They argued that we had only turned in 6 items when we turned in 7. Unfortunately, our mistake, we didn't get a copy of how many items we initially turned in. Guess what, they found a lost skirt, that was our 7th item. No apologies for their mistake. When we finally picked up our items, one wasn't even altered. Again, not even an apology or offer to finish same day. It's unfortunate because the actual work they do is good, but I would recommend to find another tailor with better customer service. My daughter had her school skirts hemmed to be in compliance with dress code. They measured the skirts on her before alterations and of course when we picked them up and she actually wore them pulled up as high as she does.....they were too short. We went back to Jessi's and explained that my daughter had been trying to pull one over on her dad and it was our fault. They were able to let the hem out and fix all the skirts at no cost. A few qualms: - service is not consultative; if you don't come in with exactly how to fix your problem, don't expect to get any answers here. - you may get what you ask for and more, as in more of what you didn't want done to your garment. - premium pricing for sub-par service. Brought in two gowns for alterations. The first just needed hemming and had an issue with the zipper getting stuck. I told them I was ok with replacing the zipper if need be but needed it to be a concealed zipper. It took 2 weeks to get the dress back and when I did get it back it was let out at the seams and now is too large. In addition, this dress is full sequins, the portion of the dress that was let out had no sequins and is strikingly obvious. I truly wonder how the seamstress failed to see this as an issue at any point in alterations. The second gown needed an additional square inch of matching fabric. The dress had plenty of extra fabric from which could be sourced but was turned away and told it could not be done and that I would need to purchase additional fabric even after my suggestion that we use other parts of the gown. Then took it to a fabric store to purchase what is meant to be a matching piece for the dress and they gave me the same idea I had shared with the tailor on how to resolve my issue. I did not take the dress back to Jessi's for this and took care of it on my own. Very simple solution. We have been using this tailor for years but the service and quality of work has severely declined. read more

Took it to Jessi's.. they had it done in 1 wk.. 2 days before Christmas as scheduled. I was charged a fairly reasonable price for the amount of work involved. No holes left whatsoever on the jacket! I called ahead of time to ask for an appoitment for alterations for about 6 mens suits. Needed the sleeves tapered and shortned, and shoulders brought in. They told me to walk in. I go within 30 minutes, and there is one lady assisting a customer by taking her measurments. The guy behind the counter ask me what needs to be done. I said the suits look baggy so I need help with the fit and styling. They told me they were busy and that I needed to tell them what I needed done. I though the whole point was to use your tailors expertise to give me an inspiring look and fit with the suits. I walked out with all my clothes and am so glad I didnt give them my business. I went to elsewhere where the tailor knows how to propery fit mens clothing. These people are in sugarland and seem to have a lot of customers so they wont miss my money, but its sad because I was refered to them by a friend. read more

I took in 4 items (2 tops and 2 bottoms). They did the measurements while I had the items on. A week later and only 1 of the items (1top) was correctly tailored. The other top was several inches too big still. The 2 bottoms were several inches too big still and not even of the same waist sizes. The lady demanded payment at that time even with the wrong sizes. I told them I would pay when the items were done correctly, so they gave me another date and time to return. I came back a third time after the time it was supposed to be ready, and the items weren't done. They had my number, but chose not to call beforehand and had no excuse for why it wasn't completed except that they were busy. After the fourth time, I was finally able to pick up my items. Nothing but an insincere apology. This was the worst experience I've had with a tailor. read more

Too high! I've been coming here for years and every time I come back it's more and more expensive. They are literally doing basic alterations and charging an arm and a leg. I believe their rent has increased because nothing about this place has improved for the prices to sky rocket. 4-5 years ago I brought in a bridesmaid dress to be taken in on the sides and under the butt, that was $40. LAST WEEK, I took in a cheap $40 dress and a $20 skirt I ordered online. Literally to take in the sides for both items equaled $58!!!! HOW???? And they barely did any real alterations to the skirt, it's still loose. I paid the same amount of money for alterations as I did for the skirt and dress and it's just insane. I almost told them they can keep the dress instead of me paying that ridiculous price. Highway robbery, I've tried over the years to work with these people, but I've decided that i need to find a new seamstress. These people aren't doing anything great. The store needs a complete renovation, as it is dingy and worn down. How in the world they think these prices make any sense is beyond me. Anyone know of a good seamstress in Houston?!!! read more

I am beyond irritated and annoyed. I took a dress in for a zipper replacement and was told that it would be ready a week from that date. A week later I went to go pick up my dress only to find that they did nothing to it. They brought out my dress and said that they hadn't done anything because they didn't have the zipper that was needed to replace. They also told me that if I found the zipper and brought it in they would discount me a few dollars. First, they should have called as soon as they realized they couldn't do anything. Second, because they didn't call and waited until I picked up my dress to tell me to go look for a zipper; when and how am I going to find one in time for the dress to be fixed before my event. It wouldn't have been a big deal had they called, but they didn't and now, I am SOL on a dress for my event that's happening in 2 days. read more

Someone I trust recommended this place to me. First impressions were not good. Cramped, dingy. It didn't get better. I wanted a flower girl's dress altered. Nothing massive. Adjusted shoulders, tighten the front and bring in the waist a bit and make the large bow at the back smaller. Nothing was done to the length at all. It wasn't remaking the dress. Cost? Just over $75 (the dress was $116). Everything was a challenge for them. We took my niece back to pick up the dress to see if the alterations were okay. Nope. When they adjusted the shoulders, they neglected to adjust the lining as well so the front of the dress was out of shape. The guy kept insisting it just needed ironing. He lost that argument. The bow wasn't small enough (it was still huge), wasn't in the right place, wasn't fixed in place. It was terrible. I don't know if they moved the zipper (why?) but it was crooked and the top of the zip looked like it had been cut off with blunt scissors and was sticking out of the top of the dress (hard to explain). I really just wanted to take the dress but I was sure he'd make me pay for the mess he'd made so I asked him to fix everything and I would be back. I went back today. Everything was right except for the bow. Where he had cut the fabric to make the bow smaller, he hadn't sewn the end and when the fabric was folded, you could see the cut ends. I asked him if he could tuck those end and tack them onto the bow so they wouldn't show. He did so begrudgingly after arguing that the bow had come that way with the dress (a brand new, straight from the store dress). After all of this, I did ask for a small discount when I checked out with the wife (I presume). She gave me the nastiest look and told me no. I told her fine, I was going to put a review on here and that it was the worst experience and I would never be back (obviously). If you are going to charge those extortionate prices at least do work that reflects them. My son is getting married at the St. Regis and maybe I have high standards for the dress my niece, the flower girl, is going to wear. I expected the dress to leave the shop looking as it had when I brought it in except fitted to my niece. Was that too much to ask? Apparently so. read more

When they first placed the pins while I was wearing the garment, I was worried the fit would remain loose and have a weird fall; however, when I went to pick up the jacket a week later it fit like a glove! No business should take on more than they can handle, and unfortunately, Jessi's Tailors does just that. My husband had gone there to get some pants hemmed after reading the first glowing review. His pants were done on time and correctly, so I decided to try the place out. I went on a Monday to drop off some pants to have a small hold repairs, have a purse strap sewn, and to have a sweater hole fixed (rewoven). As I waited, I observed a conversation between the man who runs the place and a customer. He apologized, but the items he had promised to have ready were not ready. She explained she needed them that night and would wait. She looked defeated and went to sit in her car directly outside the shop to wait for her items. This should have been my cue to leave. Instead, I went ahead and left all three of my items to be repaired. The employee (owner?) told me the purse would be ready the next day because it was an easy fix. He said the pants would be ready in 2 days and that the sweater was more complicated and would be ready in 2 weeks. Seriously... 2 weeks? I said ok to all three items because even though I thought 2 weeks was a long time, it's Houston and it's April, so I don't need the sweater right away (even though it's very light and airy and can be worn most of the year). So, I go back to get the repaired purse which he charges me $2 for. The strap has been sewn, but the repair is shabby and low quality. I showed it to him and he just kind of shrugged. I paid my $2 and left. then I went back to get the pants. The problem was a tiny hole that just needed to be sewn. Their repair is now an over one inch long and extremely obvious. I wasn't impressed, but I had planned to wear these when I didn't care too much about how they looked. Why was I settling for all these shabby repairs? The last straw was the sweater. I went back 2 weeks after I had originally dropped it off. I had my ticket in hand and was hoping to see some great work done. Nope! The man told me they were backed up and it wasn't ready. He said it would be ready in 2 more days. I went back later in the week and the sweater was ready. The repair was perfect, and I was pleased. I ended up paying $23.65 for the purse, pants, and sweater together. I was still very frustrated with my wasted time. They do not accept personal checks, cash and cards (no Amex). Learn from my experience: Only go here if you are in NO hurry whatsoever and if you don't mind your time wasted by several trips to pick up items that are not yet ready. They seem to do a fine job on hems and more major repairs, but just not always on time. My time is valuable. I had my suit tailored here for a total of 26 dollars and I thought they did a decent job. Since they did alright I decided to bring my pants some time later to get altered. I had no warning whatsoever, they told me 9-10 bucks to have my pants altered. However, when I picked it up, it was a total of 26 instead. I asked why it was 26 and their response was that they altered the length and width in two areas and that they told me they would charge me 26 dollars. I will be honest to you, they DID NOT. They also said if they were to alter only 1 thing, they would charge their usual rate of 9-10 dollars. There is no sign or warning that oh if you want to do this, its this much, you want to do that, its that much. None of that. They did not want to take responsibility for what they said and in a way do not care if they lose customers. The only reason why I am giving them 2 stars is because I know they can do their job decently but because of such a bad response to my pants, I will not be coming back to do business with them. read more

Jessi's Tailors is my local go-to tailor here in Sugar Land. I have been taking my scrubs there to get the length trimmed and hemmed as well as my suites when needed for quite some time. They have always been 100% on my alterations, fair price and my items are ready fairly quickly. This last time they really came through for me though, my wife purchased a dress off of amazon and it was way too long. We had an event to attend just hours later. I went again today for a dress I just got in mail & am super excited to get it back!! Some say he's grouchy but he's just quiet.
