Dulles is pretty big, so we had a little walk to the security area and then our boarding gate. There are plenty of eateries, shops, and the like in addition to airport lounges (additional fees may apply or they may be free with your credit card or airline ticket class) to come and eat, drink, and relax before your flight. All in all, Dulles has proved to be a solid airport that meets my international travel needs close a shorfrom Baltimore.

It is pretty quick and straightforward once you get the hang of it. One thing I really appreciate is that TSA has generally been quick during my visits. For a large and busy airport, getting through security without much of a wait is definitely a plus! I also like how this airport has the plenty of food and drink options. They've got familiar spots like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks as well as specialty restaurants featuring tacos and dumplings. For my work trips to the DC/Virginia area, IAD has become an airport that I'm pretty comfortable flying through.

The flight was delayed approximately seven times. After spending hours waiting, we finally boarded and believed we were going home. While we were already seated on the aircraft, we received an email from United notifying us that the flight had been canceled. Communication throughout the disruption was extremely poor. We had to deplane, retrieve our luggage, and were transported by United to Sunscape Coco Punta Cana for the night. The accommodations United provided had numerous cleanliness and maintenance issues, which we photographed and documented. I was also already ill and had received medical treatment in Punta Cana, making the situation especially difficult. We were eventually rebooked on UA3042 on August 28 and returned home a day later than scheduled. United UA1614.pdf What has been especially frustrating is United's response afterward. United gave the two passengers traveling together different explanations. In the response to my complaint, United stated that UA1614 was canceled due to technical issues. In its separate response to my partner, United referred to weather delays. That inconsistency only adds to my concerns about the communication surrounding this disruption. I submitted a detailed formal complaint with documentation. United acknowledged my experience but directed me to United Cares, where I was offered only a $50 United travel credit. I understand that delays and cancellations happen and that safety must come first. My complaint is about how United handled everything surrounding the disruption: repeated delays, poor communication, learning about the cancellation by email while sitting on the aircraft, unacceptable overnight accommodations, and then receiving conflicting explanations afterward. After providing United with detailed documentation and giving the company an opportunity to address our concerns privately, I expected a much more substantive response. I gave two stars, because I eventually got home!

It's quick and efficient vs the rolling mobile lounges. Unfortunately you'll mostly only use it when you're departing vs arriving at the airport,. particularly if you're traveling on an international flight requiring you to clear customs first, which means taking the mobile lounge. They're clean, fast, usually running every 5 minutes or so. Not much seating so you'll likely be standing. Some complain about the walk to the gates from the train stop, but given that it's been built into the airport long after the original terminals were constructed, I think it's reasonable, especially to avoid the mobile lounges. Plus I like the last chance to stretch my legs before being cooped up in a plane for hours. The long term plan is to continue to build it out, particularly to the next set of terminals that are being planned (currently this review is late 2025) to begin building in the next few years pending funding (we know how that's going this year). If you can take it when you're traveling, do so.

The carpet was dirty. They advertised that it seats close to 18 but our group of 12 were squashed. It would have been nice to be given instructions on how to use the tv or music but nothing was written inside. Looking at my receipt I was charged for an 18 passenger but got a 14 passenger. When I got out I asked about the water and the driver said it was inside in the cooler. When we finished up, we went back into the limo and there was nothing. Be sure to check what your getting. Update: I have 12 witnesses who will agree that there was no water in that limo. I'm not sure why this company would flat out lie.

Upon arrival you need to flash the barcode on the receipt you need to print out with your reservation. There might not be an attendant there so ty he barcode reader will raise the gate and let you in. A shuttle will take you from the garage basically across the street to the Crown Plaza Hotel which has shuttles to Dulles Airport every 30 minutes. Pretty simple. What they don't tell you is how to get back to your car after you return from your trip. You pick up the shuttle where all the other hotel shuttles pick up passengers, at the far end of the terminal baggage claim level. When you board, you must tell the driver you want to be dropped off at the Herndon Park and Fly. The shuttle you took from the garage to the Crown Plaza only drops off. It does not pick up...thst is, it's parked at the garage. It only goes to the hotel when someone at the garage needs to go there. So if you don't know this, like I didn't, you end up at stranded at the hotel. When I learned this from the hotel shuttle driver, I'd been waiting over 45 minutes. So by the time I got to my car to leave, the automated gate told me I owed an additional $7 because I was checking out over 45 minutes later than I had originally scheduled and paid for. Fortunately the parking attendant was able to let me out without having to pay the additional charge. Confused? Yeah I was too. Now that I know the system, it should go more smoothly next time. Forewarned us forearmed.
