This place has amazing food and is within walking distance from my house, but I refuse to go there. The staff is rude, the patrons are snobby and the prices are too expensive for a Milwaukee Avenue bar. A few years ago someone thought it would be a good idea to save their seat with their cell phone. Needless to say, their cell phone was stolen. The bar tender accused the group I was with of stealing it, then began questioning us like we were on trial for murder. This place is a joke. Go to The Garage next door instead. read more

I've only been to Jet's once, but I'll definitely go back. A friend and I stopped in during a weeknight and were very impressed. The bartender was friendly and answered some questions that we had patiently, even though he was really busy. The food was very good. We both had a barbecue cheeseburger. The burgers have different side options, which included tater tots. That was great! How often as an adult do you get tater tots as a side dish choice?!? My friend said that it was one of the best burgers she's ever had at a restaurant and I would agree. Plus, the decor and atmosphere at Jet's is good too. Jets is a small bar, its dive-ish atmosphere works if your trying to come here to watch sports, especially the blackhawks. I was here when they won the Stanley cup and it was rocking. I recently came here for a Bulls playoff game, it was pretty empty but, they have plenty of TVs no matter what angle you sit at. When it comes to food and beer list Garage next door has them beat no doubt. Garage I would say is more of a social place, less TV's, no sport audio, and nice rooftop. But if you wanna go out and Watch and Hear the game this is a nice spot. read more

Nice look inside with the old tin ceiling, etc., but everything else was subpar starting with the weak cocktails. When we complained to the waitress we couldn't even detect any alcohol in them, she just shrugged. Even after telling her we had never been there before, she didn't tell us about the regular specials which we only found out about after ordering. Burgers were fairly good, but French fries were soggy. The Reuben sandwich was disappointing...dry, low on melted cheese with an off-tasting sauce. The only outstanding item was the beer-battered onion rings. Eating wasn't made comfortable, either, with no regular chairs, but only those high bar stools that you have to balance on----even at the tables. This is the ONLY place in Jefferson Park I could find with the NFL Package. Turns out to be a fairly solid neighborhood joint with lots of TVs. Staff is friendly, but not in a fake way. Food is above average for what you'd expect, but not fancy at all. Finally, the daily specials are great! I went here on the advice of a friend of mine who was out of her mind. She claimed that the Burgers here ranked up with Kuma's? What was she smoking? Jet's is an Oasis in the Baron desert that is known as Norwood park. The interior is nice, the food is decent, but the burger was not on the same planet as Kuma's. Not that I'm complaining about a $3 burger and a $2 pint of Guinness. On the merit of the food, I give it three stars. I take one star away for the fact that whomever did the scheduling that night was incompetent. What knucklehead bar manager only has one person working on Black Wednesday. The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest drinking days of the year. I'm giving one star back for the one guy who was working. He did a kick ass job. He handled a full bar and about a dozen tables with ease. Even though he was swamped, he was courteous and fast. He deserves a raise. Jet's is a decent place to watch a ballgame and enjoy some decent bar food. Since it's the only decent place in Norwood park, we will definitely go back. read more

So I do not get out that much in the neighborhood and when I do, I usually go to the Garage. But after hanging in the Garage, my buddy and I thought we would pop into Jets. This we did despite my recollection that they had a truly limited and frankly embarrassing bourbon selection. Further a lot of friends of mine (many of which are CPD) had told me that Jets had gone downhill. Stories of aggressive men, fights, and even some guns were common. But that did not deter us. Upon approaching the doorway, it was clear that Jets was packed. Early in the morning I had seen three school busses out front so I assumed that it was some Cubs outing that had returned after the game. After being carded, we entered and the place was packed with inebriated testosterone. Approaching the bar would take a herculean effort. (If Jets was not violating their fire code for occupancy, they were close.) Within seconds (literally), some amateur clown got in my face for no reason. I looked the other way just wanting to drink. Then some other idiot went bounding through the bar like he was in a mosh pit and shoulder checked my buddy. After that, I suggested we leave no more than 60 seconds after entering. Jets was a powder keg and I wanted nothing to do with it. Given the overtly reckless behavior of their clientele, I am assuming that this was not a problem for Jets "management." So it was back to the Garage. (On an ironic note, the Garage was occupied by some biker gang who were infinitely more chill than the meatball clowns next door.) When I moved into the neighborhood about a decade ago, Jets was the place and the Garage was the dive. Now its exactly the opposite. So moral of the story is go to the Garage where the worst you have to deal with is the occasional aloof bartender or server. read more

This bar is usually packed with people in the front and outside. I finally got a time where it was dead and ventured inside. it must be the neighborhood youngster bar compared to the other Irish bars in the neighborhood that draw older crowds. i really don't see what is so special about this place. It seems like a good place to watch television as there are many screens. the problem I have with this place is there are hundreds of boring bars like this throughout the city and burbs. the food was bland and about the only good thing to say about this place is that they have alot of beer on tap. I'm really not understanding the bad reviews or the two dollar signs for pricing. The staff at Jets as well as the customers are FANTASTIC. Susie the bartender is super sweet and friendly. They have specials almost everyday and the $3 burgers on Wednesday are delish. It's a huuuge burger with a side for 3 bucks. Plus they have local brews and nothing on the menu is over 8 bucks. My husband and I just started coming here this past year and it has definitely become one of our favorite and comfortable local bars. DEFNITELY order the fried cheese plate (mozzarella sticks, jalepeno poppers, cheese curds and fried mac and cheese -$6) so so so so so so good!!!! read more

We went here after we closed out The Rusty Armadillo and it was a very nice place. Not the typical joint for this neighborhood and I had to keep reminding myself I was in Jefferson Park and not Uptown where I used to live...great ratio for single girls if you are looking for a date. Drinks are very reasonable and the night I was there it was packed. I will definitely go back here when I need a place to wet my whistle. read more

A great traditional neighborhood bar (I mean Public House) on the far north side. Daily food and drink specials (starting at just $2), wall-to-wall flat panels with access to games you'd be surprised they'd have availability (YES network, etc.) and plenty of seating for what you'd expect looking from the outside in. Most comments were fair/accurate in that it's 20-40 somethings, has great trivia nights, as well as exceptional food for a bar. One thing I didn't come across was a comment on the girl/guy ratio - it's awful (any night of the week). It's not a bad thing, nor a deal breaker, but I wouldn't get your hopes up on walking out with any numbers, yet alone get a chance to talk to a girl on some nights. I'd expect that's due to it being a local establishment that caters to sport enthusiasts. You're not going to find many other options on the far north side (that doesn't make you feel that you might get stabbed), yet alone a spot like Jet's. To borrow a line from Cheers, it's literally a place where everyone "can" know your name. Also, it's refreshing to still have a place to go where $20 will get you a good meal, great conversation and an even better buzz. read more

Stopped in on accident, was heading to a neighboring establishment that was closed, and was pleasantly surprised! Good service, great food, and outdoor seating. Had the chimmichurri chicken sandwich (amazing), and sweet potato fries (with a hint of cinnamon sugar). My husband enjoyed his Reuben. Good specials too! read more

They have good specials. The menu is good. The chili is great and I order it even though I'm prone to getting heart burn. This is a neighbor hood place and I often find myself there if I want a quick unhealthy meal because their fried foods are delicious oh and they have tater tots. Recently they started selling Rusty Sangria which they use to carry at their sister restaurant that has since closed down. I can drink pitchers of the stuff which can be dangerous but is so good. They have great drink specials from Skyy vodka, Karaoke on Wednesdays and Sundays- always a hoot. This is a more Irish-Nashville style bar. Not much hip-hop, or new beats. They also have good food! Limited seating. read more

I always love going to this place. The staff is so nice and friendly. The food is good, especially the sliders. The only thing is they need to get a better recipe for guacamole.
