We were craving wings and saw that Highway House opened at 10. We arrived to a fairly empty restaurant but given the time we didn't think anything of it. We were greeted and handed breakfast menus. I asked if that was the only menu available and the server asked the cook if we could do lunch. They said yes and we were given the lunch menus or more so the lunch menu was thrown on our table. That being said, the wings are excellent. Crispy and decently sauced. We ordered the honey siracha and buffalo wings. We also ordered the corned beef egg rolls. They had a sweetness to them that we didn't love. It's a cool set up that you could tell is an old house. Our server was rude to another coworker by spouting off commands and when she was confused the server goes, "you need to wake up." The other woman didn't even do anything to warrant that. Coworker rudeness is really unnecessary so that depleted one star, another star was taken for the sweetness of an egg roll. I do want to come back for the wings again. This wasn't a horrible experience by any means but some little upgrades can go a long way.

Fantastic wait staff, Family owned, the food is outstanding and cooked to order, served piping hot! Full bar with ice cold martini's & lots of drink specials too! Several TV's tuned to Softball and Baseball today, you can see the screens from every direction:) Thanks Lisa and the staff at Highway House!

Short but sweet, the food is amazing! Price is great. Service top notch for there being no waitress and only the owner. Always feel at home here. The ambience is so welcoming. Highly recommend this place!!!

Dropped in one day on a whim with my friend. Food was decent. Service wasn't bad but nothing noteworthy. I saw about 10 things that could have been done instead of sitting at the bar playing on the phone, like refilling my drinks for starters. Prices were not low enough to make me a regular. Nice outdoor patio, lowkey vibe. I may or may not return.

We talked long with the bartender and a young man that worked there. Order a few drinks and talked with these two guys for fifteen minutes or so off and on before we even ordered anything. Just felt right, small conversation great atmosphere. We each ordered the three taco plate. I had one fish taco, one elote taco and one Arrachera taco. My wife hard three pork belly tacos. Hard to say which was out favorite because they were all equally as delicious and bursting with flavor from the fresh ingredients. We will be returning soon the March to try their corned beef and leprechaun margaritas before it's over. A must try restaurant in Norwood park.

The margaritas were bland and had table salt just smothered in the rim which made it very unappealing. Then the chips and guacamole turned me off from ordering anything else. The guac was either out of a tube or box I had a little bit and it tasted awful and as it sat in the bar top it just turned brown like green after 20 minutes. Service was decent but there was only one table occupied on a Sunday lunchtime which should have been a giveaway. The food that came out for another table looked decent but after the guac I only imagined the rest of the food was probably frozen or boxed items and didnt want to spend any more money there.

This place has got to be one of the most wasteful restaurants on the planet. Just like another…read morereviewer, I had high hopes for this place as it had great reviews and the fact that it was near public transit (assuming it gets high foot traffic). We went here after our flight landed in Chicago - instant regret. I ordered the chicken gyro, which, for some odd reason came with a quarter of white onion chunks, a whole Roma tomato, lots of lettuce, and a whole vat of tzatziki sauce. I requested feta, as that is pretty typical in a chicken gyro. I was told it would be an extra cost, to which I agreed. Yet imagine my surprise when I received not one, not two, but three entire sticks of whole feta. Not crumbled on top of my pita like I was expecting. Additionally these three blocks of feta ended up being $5. That's on me. If I had known to check the menu for whole feta sticks, I would have known better. Aside from that, the pita was almost completely inedible, as it was just coated and lathered in the tzatziki sauce. It came to me on a flat pita, completely impossible to pick up. I ended up requesting just a plain side pita to just construct my own. Wayyyy too much stuff wasted on one pita. Cook could have made a whole second pita from the very mid ingredients - would have made it more worth the price and excessive amount of feta. The side pita was reasonably priced. Just like the other hopeful reviewer, our fries were overcooked and practically hollow. Additionally, we each got a "side of fries" and that was practically a BASKET of fries. So...two baskets of too many overcooked fries. Another waste. I wanted to do more than pay and leave, but God did we have a rough flight. Was not expecting to be so disappointed upon stepping into what seems like a "Mom 'n Pop" kinda place. Run the other way so you don't feel guilty about the amount of food you are bound to waste.

Although we are from the area, we had never visited before, and the photos immediately caught our attention. The bar fit our vibe perfectly, and after visiting a few times, we knew it was the right place for us. We rented both spaces: the main bar upstairs and Nightshade, the speakeasy downstairs. Moonflower has a small stage in the main bar, which we used for our ceremony. The space already has so much character that it needed very little decorating. We brought small flower vases and an altar piece that the bride and her now mother in law made together. After the ceremony, we held cocktail hour and served food buffet style in the main bar. Later, everyone moved downstairs to Nightshade. Its lounge atmosphere and dance floor were perfect for our 50 to 60 guests. Some people relaxed around the cocktail tables while others danced, so everyone could enjoy the night in their own way. Moonflower's event organizer, Morgan, was wonderful. She made the entire planning process feel easy and was a joy to work with. She helped turn our ideas into reality, assisting with day of logistics, décor, beverage packages, and every question that came up. She was always responsive and available. Morgan also helped us think through details that had not occurred to us, including coffee for our guests, explaining the parking situation, contacting nearby businesses about using their lots, and recommending DJs. We ultimately hired one of the DJs she suggested. Her extra support was incredibly helpful and took a great deal of stress out of planning. If you have not tried Moonflower's drinks, you are missing out. Their regular cocktail menu is fantastic, and our experience was even more special because of a custom cocktail session with Zach. He created signature drink options for each of us based on our tastes and favorite cocktails. Every option was spectacular, and the final drinks felt personal and special. We chose Funeral Potatoes for the food. Since they already handle the food at Moonflower, we were able to try many dishes beforehand. Our guests raved about everything. We especially recommend the brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and caprese sandwiches. Alexis, who heads up Funeral Potatoes, was also extremely helpful with selecting the menu. The only outside food we brought in was our wedding cake. The entire staff was phenomenal. Everyone treated the occasion with the perfect balance of care, professionalism, and fun. The night went off without a hitch and was truly one of the best nights of our lives. Moonflower was also extremely reasonable compared with other venues we considered in the city, especially with an open bar and food available on site. Street parking was plentiful, and none of our guests had trouble finding a spot. For anyone looking for a relaxed wedding for 50 to 60 people with a memorable lounge atmosphere, fantastic staff, buffet style food, and exceptional cocktails, Moonflower should be at the top of your list.
