    Mozzarella Balls
    Vandesha L.

You know what, hell yeah! I circled the block multiple times trying to figure out the parking situation until I read the sign to park in the garage. Walked into a typical neighborhood bar with a kitchen and patio until you see the food that comes out of this place. For started the service is top tier. Wonderful greeting g, smiles, upbeat and ready to educate you about the menu. I went for mozzarella balls for a starter and a chicken parm regular size sub. My friend got a pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut. The regular is huge so I'd hate to see the jumbo. These are hot subs but they have some deli style sandwiches too. I am not a French Frie fan but the fries were tasty and very crispy. The summer drink menu is light and refreshing, we had a peach cocktail and a strawberry margarita. Overall 10/10 highly recommended!

Took the kids to get subs and they loved it! You need to try it! The size is great, you won't leave hungry!

Came here because I heard they had the best pastrami in Austin and my goodness it was SO tasty. I was sad that my friend got to eat the whole thing and I had the turkey (still very good but not the Pastrami!). Super quick service on a Sunday around 4:30 pm, super kind staff, tons of seating!

As usual about any place under the Jewboy name, this place is a knock out of the park. Appropriately priced, delicious, and great service at this casual sub shop. The fajita sub was delicious and my partner ended up loving it, but I felt like the shrimp po boy was even better. Definitely did not skimp on the shrimp and it paired well with the tangy slaw. No wonder it's a fan-favorite (which they indicate on the menu). They also had a special to buy some pastrami corn dog balls which was absolutely AMAZING, and although they don't seem to be a permanent item, it should be (plus they reheat really well). Overall recommend from me!

What a cute little spot! Very grungy and a charmed local spots. I got the shrimp po boy which was one of their popular items! The shrimp was freshly crispy and the coleslaw was very saucy. The bread was very soft too. My only note was that it was such a big bite hard to get it all in one. Very filling!

Best sandwiches in Austin! This is from the same team that run Jewboy Burgers. They bring the same great flavors but in sandwich form and without the long lines. Go try it before it blows up like the burger shop! I love a good Philly but can never find them. All of their sandwiches look amazing but I love the Philly's so much I can bring myself to try any of the other ones! I can say both the OG and the carne asada are on point. Go get these asap!!

Posting a review to add photos of the new menu and sauce dispenser. however, here's what we got! the spirit world cheesesteak was truly excellent. we will miss the french dip, but i wouldn't trade back. we also got a chicken parm which was honestly great and perfectly balanced. it could have been more saucy but probably not without getting soggy and falling apart. also, brand new on the menu is chips and queso, which i was craving already and ordered. i'm hoping they workshop the recipe a bit. it could use a bit more flavor and creaminess, both which could be found by swapping to a white american cheese as the base. looking forward to trying it again! austin might be olympic level competition for queso and i believe jewboy is gonna bring it!

The cafe is spacious with lots of seating. You go to the bar to place an order- it isn't a full service restaurant. I had the Q VO Chicken Fajita Bacon Ranch and a side of fries. The sandwich was very large but lacked flavor. It was underwhelming. I feel like the sandwich was a waste of money and I would have preferred to get food elsewhere. The French fries were delicious and cooked to crispy perfection. Overall, I wasn't blown away with my experience. I don't anticipate going back anytime soon.

Considering converting.. I was overwhelmed so I asked about their top three sandwiches. The cashier imedietly pulled a light saber out and pointed on the wall.both of our sandwiches were great. The staff is very helpful with ordering and all around. It's really does feel like someone's home almost with all the trim keys and personal touches.

Sandwich was great! Loved the multiple sauces. Chips were great too. Great casual spot for a sandwich and they do trivia! Will definitely come back to try some other sandwiches!

First, I gotta say the ppl that work here are very friendly and helpful. Second, the menu is really fun and I can't recommend the Carne Asada cheesesteak enough. Absolutely fantastic. I'm a big fan of their fries too. Matza ball soup is hard to get in the ATX, so I'm grateful when I can get it. Solid, not quite Grandma's from Staten Island, but a solid offering.

THE COLSON VIP FRENCH DIP WITH PARMESAN FRIES??? Must I say more? Thinly sliced succulent slow roasted sirloin from heaven, smothered in rich Au Ju simmered grilled onions, delicately placed on a hoagie roll then covered in flowing melty provolone cheese. Served with a cup of hot Au Ju for dipping to splash all over your taste buds. Don't forget the spicy jardinière for the Italian experience. I REGRET NOTHING! All jokes aside this place is amazing, cant wait to go back and try another great pick. You really can't go wrong here, it really all looks fantastic. Everything at this establishment is on point; clean place, good customer service, the food is so good you're gonna smack yo momma for not cooking like this when you were a child. Great vibes, great people, great everything. The cashier was so kind, even gave us her little spiel about all the great things on the menu, very helpful. There's a outside seating area under the trees with some fans, we came on a beautiful day so we sat outside to soak up the great weather and enjoy our perfect meal.

But by the time my friend arrived about 1:10 the line had disappeared and the crowd was quickly thinning out. I had the farmhouse club and my friend went with a salad (I forget which one). My sandwich was absolutely delicious and I cleaned it up. His salad was enormous and he couldn't finish it. He had enough leftover to take home for another meal. Neither came with a side but they are available for purchase. The restaurant is bright and cheerful inside with plenty of seating. And the staff are very friendly and eager to assist throughout the meal. The only downside is their prices being a little high for the type of setting so one star off. I will probably return anyway for the delicious sandwich. But I wish it came with chips!

I've been for both lunch and dinner, and lunch is clearly the peak time, which makes sense given the sandwich, salad, and soup menu. It feels built for the midday lunch crowd. The kitchen runs very efficiently, the line moves quickly, and online ordering is very easy. It's counter service, but I've taken meals to go a few times and everything traveled well. As of February 2026, it still has that brand new restaurant feel. The interior is bright, clean, and modern, and there's a ton of outdoor seating. However, you are just off 38th Street and across from the Seton medical complex, so al fresco dining may not be the quietest experience depending on traffic and time of day. Overall, a great addition to the area for lunch (or dinner).

***SMOOTHIE ONLY REVIEW***…read more I'll be honest, Yelp: I most sincerely had reservations about The Soup Peddler. Reason: The menu reads sort of average and practical. Why buy stuff I could make at home? When I spend money, I'm paying for a hit of culture and flavor. This economy is crazy. You've gotta choose wisely. I can save money and do average at home. HOWEVER, I was on a mission for a real pineapple and kale smoothie, and Austin has been inconsistent with this. Juice-Land makes mistakes with substitutions (they don't have it on the menu) and Smoothie King is an "all over the place" expensive hot mess caught up in a boycott, so here I found myself. I ordered the Tropicalia (24 oz): mango, banana, pineapple juice, lemon, kale, spirulina. Solid lineup. But I don't like juice substitutions when you can have real fruit, so my *ONE ASK* was to please add real pineapple on top of everything. Add actual pineapple, not just juice. They said yes!!! No extra charge. And that's where everything changed. This tasted CRAFTED. This tasted INTENTIONAL. Winner. WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER. This is easily the BEST smoothie I've had in Austin. That I've had ever. Ok, Erewhon in LA has been the best. But this was fresh, bright, and clean. Sweet without tipping into sugar overload. The pineapple flavor popped and was balanced by the earthiness of the kale and spirulina so it felt refined and it didn't feel like a juice bomb. Perfecto. Service was straightforward. Pleasant and efficient, not over the top. It works. But the point is I came in skeptical and I left planning my next visit. I want to try everything. If this smoothie delivered then I have high hopes for the rest of the menu. Forgive my doubts.

The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good. I feel like it could improve with packaging that doesn't steam it during transport though (wrapped in sandwich paper and then foil). Perhaps a box or styrofoam container that can vent would help it be less chewy and retain some crispness? Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!
