This store has the rudest front desk clerk. I had thought I clipped the coupons for Some things I purchased. After checking out I realized there were a couple that did not come up. Went to the service desk and Kayla was there. I explained it was my fault and apologized. She grabbed my receipt, seemed annoyed by my mistake. Kept apologizing, trying to explain I just had surgery and this was my first trip out. She didn't say a word. It was like I was a bother to shop in the store. I am a senior citizen and sometimes have problems with the app. She did credit me, but still saying nothing to me. Just looked at me like I was the worst person in the world. Check out. I went to a cash register that had a bagger and when it was my turn to check out, the bagger moved to the next register. I said to myself that it seems like I'm bagging again. The cashier did bag a few bags and I loaded them to my cart then stopped. The bagger that moved, I saw him standing doing nothing. My cashier ignored the remaining items so I finished and told him I should get a discount for bagging my food. He said he didn't have a bagger then started looking at a cellphone. I went to the service desk and made my dissatisfaction known. This cashier set me off as I have bagged my own groceries many times in the past with no issue. read more

One of the worse Jewels in the area. Smaller store, so smaller selection. They only ever seem to have 1 register open, and the cashiers here seem slower than average. The location is a pain and I wouldn't come here unless it's an emergency and it's the only place open. I would drive the extra 5 minutes to go to another location. read more

For over a year, the deli staff at this Jewel consistently let me swap the grilled chicken breasts in the 8-piece meal for other cuts. I have a medical condition that causes severe muscle tension in my throat, and the way they overcook the breasts makes them so dry I have to swallow each bite with water--which often makes me sick. Swapping them was the only way I could eat the meal safely. Yesterday, the new deli manager refused to allow the swap, despite knowing I'd end up throwing the chicken breasts away. Forcing customers to buy food they can't eat is not just bad service--it's wasteful and inconsiderate. The 8-piece chicken isn't worth the price if I'm paying for pieces I have to toss in the trash. That chicken was one of the only things I came to this store for. I've been a regular customer, but you just lost my business. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but my experience with the woman with short white hair was so frustrating I had to say something. She was rude, dismissive, and acted like she was being inconvenienced just by having to interact with people. I asked a simple question, and she rolled her eyes and gave me a snarky answer like I was wasting her time. Her attitude was cold and unwelcoming from the start. IMO, Jewel in general and this store in particular are poorly run. "Just For U" program is riddled with glitches and somewhat cumbersome to use. I admit that a few times we had difficulties clicking the right button in the app, but many times there was a problem with this program and the "For U" app. Once or twice in the past some clipped items did not register/show at the register, and their supervisor(?), Francisco, admitted that it was a nationwide glitch that day, and on some other days they did not work, but the staff found hard to believe that it was not our fault until they tried and admitted it themselves, and a couple of times they did not remove the "For U" price tags after expiration days, and every time I had to come to the Customer Service desk and get embarrassed over asking for discounts and feel like I wanted something for nothing. My wife refused to accompany me to the Service desk to save the embarrassment, and I can't blame her, because I felt the same but braved it out of principle: why did you create this "Just For U" program if it is often broken? And how many people do you think are checking their receipts? Or was it the point, hoping that people will not check? I hope not. I always tried to be friendly and funny with them, so that I felt less embarrassed (as a friend), and they were mostly nice and friendly with us too, but a person/customer can take only so much before he/she runs out of patience. Yesterday we bought a carton of eggs, but the register rang a higher price than the price tag on the shelf, and they explained that they ran out of space and had to fill any available space and mix them up regardless of the price, but the most uncomfortable and insensitive was what the employee said/asked after that explanation, "So, do you want them or not?" No "Sorry..." or anything. My wife and I made a decision to stop shopping at that Jewel (and try to avoid Jewel whenever possible), and I am sure they will not miss me, but I thought I'd share my feelings. Jewel-Osco what can I say it's a grocery store they have everything you want though and the prices aren't too bad people work in their friendly and helpful if you need help finding something. In this supermarket you can find local fruits and vegetables, in addition to the generous offers that it sometimes makes. This supermarket is distinguished from many because it has a stand of articles or souvenirs of Chicago. And the area of ​​sweets, cakes or breads is crazy, not suitable for people who eat gluten-free. Overall, this jewel is a great location. I have gotten a lot of expired (dairy) products from this location but seems better since I complained to management. This store is closest to my house but I oftentimes find myself making the extra drive to go to the Rolling Meadows location for increase variety. Very average. read more

One of my favorite grocery store in the area. You can always find everything you need and even more. Staff is always friendly and helpful with picking products. Sometimes it's crowded but it proves that folks prefer to hit this spot for doing shopping as well as me. I didn't have any issues with customer service I mean I was always treated well and in a respectful manner. I really appreciate it. Once I checked my produce was outdated and came back to the store. They did a return and I got a new one. It was quite easy done and I saved my time and aggravation. I' d like to add this is a great and convenient location and store is always clean and tidy. And it didn't usually take forever to be checked out except if it' not a peak time. Definitely gonna support this store in these difficult times and hopefully everything's gonna be fine again soon. read more

The store is convenient for those people like me who live around the neighborhood. It is a great help especially when the pandemic started. I am a regular customer of the store and so far, I never had a problem with regards to my grocery shopping experience. The store is always clean, properly organized and well stocked. The selections like produce, meat, deli and bakery are always wonderful and the staffs are friendly and accommodating. Prices are fair and reasonable too. I wanted to surprise my mom and due to a busy schedule I forgot that the surprise would be on that day. I urgently needed a cake and flowers. I was searching on yelp and this store is the closest from where I was. It was still my lucky day because the store has a great selection of the both. I chose a flower first. Everything is beautiful and fresh and I easily decide on which should I buy. Then, when I was choosing a cake. It was a bit hard for me because everything looks nice, I was thankful to the staff who helped me choose. The staff asked me on what occasion and for who and then I said for my mom. Was there today to buy 2 items , made a long queue which is understandable nowadays . I was on the fast check out which apparently they do not respect at all. This place has made efforts to improve with a remodel and removing the self-checkout (now they *force* you to be checked out by bitter individuals-ha!). Honestly, the biggest issue with the store is some of the personnel. You got teenage guys, ignoring the customers, gossiping, and standing IN FRONT OF the "VIP service" poster (to add insult to injury). You got Ginny and the other one who looks like Ginny, both of whom seem annoyed at your very existence and treat the staff like peons. I'll never forget the day I was at the deli counter for about 15 minutes, and the customer next to me said, "What are they doing to these people to make them so miserable?" It seems true at times. Like you're peeking over the counter to make sure they aren't shackled to the floor. On the plus side--great location, decent selection, decent prices, mostly decent staff, good pharmacy. read more

I think Jewel gets a bad rap. Yes he used to be over expensive for no good reason but this location has done a lot better since the competition in town sort of open their game as well. Last year this Joe Serna upgrading the whole store. That included putting in a juice bar, better organic foods, new flooring, and better spacing of the store. They've also done a better job of being competitive with pricing. I used to do all my shopping at Mariano's and now I do most all of it at Jewel. Smaller lines, speedier service, and the same price if not cheaper. Actually I have to think or say that the pricing here is better than Moriano's. read more

I would give this place negative stars if the option to do so was on Yelp. I cooked up filet mignon for my bf and I, to find it loosen into different, smaller pieces as I was searing it on the frying pan. Two of the pieces had COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MEAT TEXTURES to filet. Verdict: MEAT GLUE, otherwise known as transglutaminase. From pig's blood, bacterial cultures, or a few other sources. Random small pieces of different meats were glued together with this powder to mimic nice slabs of meat. Thus, my filet mignons were technically not real filets. Furthermore, it poses health threats to those who eat it. Thanks for ripping me off, monetarily and nutritionally. read more

Wow, I'm so surprised at the negative reviews about this store. Maybe the reviewers are used to the giant suburban megastores? My daughter and I are new to the area, and for a downtown grocery store I have found this Jewel to be great. The checkouts are always fast, the prices about on par, and they offer employment opportunities for folks with disabilities. In fairness, I only do my supplemental shopping here - I shop mostly at Whole Foods. But last week I used the bakery here to do my daughter's birthday sheet cake. We live down the street - I ordered it on Friday for a Sunday noon pickup, with some intricate details. Julie is the bakery manager/cake designer and she is FABULOUS! Twice during my time dealing with them, another young worker had called out or left early. This woman was in her eleventh hour when I came back with my picture, and just as fresh and friendly as if she started her day five minutes ago. I wish my business was nearby - Jewel, I'd be looking to steal Julie and clone her! All in all, will support this store regularly as long as we live in the area. read more

This Jewel is a small, neighborhood location that doesn't have absolutely everything you could want, but all of the basics. Is shopping here enjoyable? No, but you'll generally find what you need and it's in a great location. I'd agree with other reviewers that service here is fairly mediocre: the checkout folks are never particularly friendly, lines can get long during peak times (rush-hours, especially after the Metra drops off), and the meat & deli departments are quite slow. This store was recognized for a 2016 Disability Employment Awareness Award by the Village of Arlington Heights for hiring local residents with disabilities. I like to support local businesses and am glad that they are helping the local community. read more

I absolutely love this market store. The size is great for locals living close. The updated produce section carries everything I could imagine. really convenient location by the train. i do like that. but the prices are not great. actually, they can be sometimes depending on what's on sale. i also hate that prices vary when you sign up for a membership card. i despide this model of sales. i've gotten some cheap stuff here, but if something is not on sale, it is pretty over-priced. also, there doesn't seem to be too much of a selection. people are helpful there though. everyone has usually been pretty nice to me. except this one cashier who seemed upset because i had my own bag and she had started to opened one to bag for me. that was weird. anyway, if i want to grab something before i get on the train, i'll probably still come here. but it won't be regular grocery stop for me. read more

I moved to Arlington heights about 6 months ago. I always go to Jewel. I have to say this Jewel on Vail is one of the worst I've ever been to! The deli girls (besides a blonde one) are the rudest, unwilling to help, they usually have five to six workers yet nobody likes to help you, I have multiple family members also sat the same when they visited the store. I have also twice bought items that were expired after dates. There is also an older man that works in the dairy he was swearing one day, I told him one day there was a straight razor on the ground, he replied well it's not mine! I said well maybe you should still pick it up in case a kid tries to??? it's really a shame I'd rather go to a further one then go to this Jewel horrible service don't go to it! They expect me to put a rating on this but I wouldn't even give it a star! read more

This store routinely offers it's store brand items at freshness dates up to 6 weeks more favorable than other brand items. Example, TODAY their heavy whipping cream bears a freshness date of February 15, 2017. Dean's brand is dated December 31st, 2016. This is routine. Prices are a little high, but they're tolerable when there are sales. The store is generally very tidy. Some of the cashiers are very nice but a few of the older ones are very aloof and sometimes rude. One cashier named Ginny doesn't even think to exchange basic pleasantries like "hello" most of the time. I've seen the manager yelling at employees in front of customers, very awkward. Also they sometimes will have an employee standing in front of the store handing out coupon books. Personally I don't like to be hassled when I walk into a store, but it seems degrading to have a person do the job of a magazine rack.
