First time I did the jewel osco app clipped the coupons and spent over 6 hours on the phone what a joke. They told me I didn't have an order at Larkin Ave I'm like excuse me I paid for it . I had to call 3 different jewels in the area after multiple phones of customer service not transferring u to the wrong people . They were rude and not helpful gave me the wrong information . I even gave them them the order . So then I found out it was at Larkin Ave store in elgin. So I asked it we could just pick it at at 5pm They said yes . And it was ready for pickup at 130 when I scheduled the time for 5 pm pickup. The deli counter people can be rude . I got no help being on the phone with multiple people . What waste of my day . The app is not worth it . And the pick up and go people have no clue were you're pick up order is. And when my dad went to pick it up they came out with one bag of slaw and dressing. My dad called and said where's the rest . So the had to go back inside and bring out 5 more bags . And the worst part is he got home and they forgot the 17 dollars cherries so he had to waste his gas again go to customer service for the cherries ty Emerson u are the only one who helped. First and last time I ever use the app . Train your employees . All they were doing was playing on their phones and laughing in the background saying it's at a different jewel which it wasn't. I looked at the different varieties they carried, along with sliced and unsliced, organic and non-organic. Standard Jewel-Osco. The grocery store is laid out so you can find things easily. They promote the Cheap Chicken Monday, and all the other hot food like $1 dollar hot dog on Saturday. The food is always ready to go. The best thing of this Jewel is that there is a Huntington Teller in this branch so you are able to do your banking right there with someone live, just in mind the branch hours for the bank. The food, regardless of type, is old. They have changed the dates on the package. The staff who work with the fresh veggies and fruits don't wear gloves or a mask. I think they take advantage of the poor customers by selling expired items and poor quality items. Maybe that's part of the manager's quota but they need a new manager who takes pride in the appearance of the store. If I had more of a choice in grocery stores, I would never shop here. I can in on 1/18/2024, did my shopping and I stop at the deli to ask if I can a to go plastic box. I did not have a bowl at work and I brought a bag Caesar salad kit. NEVER will I shop at Jewel on Summit St/rt 58! I made a pickup order on January 10th. They messed up my order by not giving me what I ordered! Plus they charged the wrong amount, Put on wrong card and I talked to a number of so called Managers and I didn't even get a "sorry". Missed out 2 sales because they didn't make it right . I've never witnessed a more gross display of mismanagement on my last visit. I watched 3 managers pass the problem along to the next for an override. The cashier, who handled it well called the first manager lcame back the third time and started to help, deciding to train the cashier on how to process the override. 1st attempt, fail. 2nd attempt, fail. I'm thinking they should have opened another register to help with the long line that was forming. I come here all the time. At least once or twice a week for the past year or so. I have to say they have improved a little bit in customer service. I'm glad there is someone at the floral counter more often, it does still seem sometimes you have to wonder the whole store when you need help. The quality of the products they have are better than most grocery stores. I love buying their fresh salmon and pub burgers from the meat counter. The guy who runs the meat counter is super nice. All their baked goods are amazing! They have a bigger selection of organic foods and gluten free than most, and I won't complain too much about their half aisle because I know this isn't Whole Foods/Trader Joe's. They have beautiful flowers and a pretty big alcohol selection as well. Some complaints : They don't really have good deals on the deli meats/cheeses. I've never seen more than a few cash registers open, although all the people at the registers are really polite. read more

I here been shopping here for 15 years and I recommend you Avoid this store at all cost. It is the most horribly managed store I have encountered in years. I feel sorry for the staff who always seem very nice but: They are woefully understaffed in all departments at all times. I assume this is to save money but wait times are awful any time if any day especially in the deli and pharmacy. I have purchased merchandise over 2 years past it's expiration date and regularly take items off the shelves myself especially yogurt that is weeks past due expiration. This pharmacy is the worst! They auto refill stuff without asking, routinely auto call to tell you prescriptions are ready that are not or have been picked up, and do not call when your scripts are ready or can't be filled. read more

Everyone, My own imposed rules for any review: 1. Must visit at least three times. Two of which must be distinctly different formats; i.e. one weekday night and one weekend night. 2. The food category is rated on fresh items, not processed or boxed items since those should be the same everywhere. Although, processed food pricing can be compared to other stores. Thanks. Jewel - Elgin West Location/Layout - 5/10: Located on Larkin Ave right between McLean and Randall Rd., this store is very easy to find and convenient for most Westside residents. The store is the mid size format which means they carry most items but do not have the expansive liquor and prepared foods section that you will find in the large format stores such as South Elgin. Although, the store recently went through an update that added a little sparkle to an already fairly clean operation; it did not do anything to expand product offerings. Parking is ample, except in the spring and early summer months when a large portion is occupied by the greenhouse. The lots are fairly well maintained and carts are usually quickly corralled, which is a major pet peeve of mine when people do not put the carts back in the cart corral or when stores do not clean up the corrals efficiently. Service - 7.5/10: Service is good for the most part and very professional. The lone issue is if you are shopping at night or at times during the weekends, some of the part time younger staff can be a little hit or miss with their product knowledge and enthusiasm. The specialized jobs, found in the pharmacy, customer service desk, deli, meat counter, and bakery are second to none and these employees will always great you in a professional and courteous manner. Lastly, they still employ baggers which creates are more pleasurable and efficient check out process. Food - 6/10: The main reason that I shop so much at Jewel, besides convenient location and having employees including baggers, is their meats, baked goods, and liquor department. The meats always taste and appear fresher than other major chains and the actual butcher counter is open longer than other stores. The liquor department has an above average selection of craft offerings, especially already chilled, and at great prices. Additionally, I enjoy their baked goods but mainly the breads (sandwich, Italian, French, rolls, etc...). Pricing on other items is the issue of why I do not do all of my shopping at Jewel. While their sales are great and rival anyone's prices, if an item is not on sale or if you are buying certain items such as dairy (i.e. milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, creamer, etc...) the prices are almost laughable. Overall Experience - 7.5/10: Due to the convenience and offering the staples that I need at fair prices I will continue to frequent Jewel. Moreover, they offer services that I still value like paper bags, if I did not bring enough reusable bags, a real life bagger not a carousel or bag your own philosophy, and real life open check out lanes with clerks, not one manned lane with a hundred customers and 50 self check out lanes. Because Jewel Osco still understands what it means to be a grocery store and how to "service" clients, they will continue to have a customer in me and I will not take a receipt elsewhere because the value of the items above are worth a couple of dollars. read more

Their store is always well-stocked, well-organized, and well-maintained. No wonder why bunch of people even their old customers keeps coming back and shop at their store again and again. Their customer service is so lit. All of their employees are nice, kind, and friendly. They also willing to help their customers 24/7. The health dept should shut down this disgusting jewel until they "properly clean those bathrooms". The one place that should be the cleanest and it's not. Plus all their frozen food is freezer burn from when they were broken. But they still sell the food. Another time got sick from their guacamole. Food poison. Health dept told me to make report. I work right by here, so I stop here a lot. Random thoughts: PRO: Checkers are super friendly & helpful. CON: They need to be, as they've taken out the self-checkout lanes. WTH? PRO: Store is laid out logically. CON: If you stop in before 9 a.m., the aisles are all full of suppliers stocking soda, chips, etc., so getting around then can be challenging. PRO: Special days like Cheap Chicken Mondays, Brownie Tuesdays, etc. CON: Went to get chicken last Monday (it is great, BTW) and the deli area was kinda dark and people were kinda standing around, talking amongst themselves & wondering if it was open. I saw a woman behind the counter with her back turned and said "Excuse me" kinda loud. Without turning around, she said, "What?" OK... So I said, "Are you open?" and she replied (still without turning around), "No." Then I guess her customer service instincts kicked in, because she finally turned around & said, "Water main broke." I was going to suggest putting up a sign to that effect to avoid confusion, but I decided to forego the pleasantries & ask about the chicken (there were piles of it under the heat lamps). "Could I get some chicken anyway?" I asked and she replied, "No. There isn't any." Considering there was about 10 lbs. of chicken there, and no water was needed to make the sale, I pointed at all of it and said, "There isn't any?" She looked at me, annoyed, and said, "There's only one breast (the Cheap Chicken package includes two breasts)." I was going to say something along the lines of "give me three drumsticks or four wings then," but I figured she wouldn't go along with that & gave up. I see there are other comments about the loveliness of the deli people, so I concur. PRO: Fresh sandwiches & salads are great. CON: They are assembly-line made by people who just want to get this job DONE, so for example, if you want a salad, there will be a dozen Chef salads sitting there--all with bleu cheese dressing. Or all with vinaigrette. If you want ranch or thousand island, you have to go to the counter and ask for a packet, and then you get the Deli Counter Charm: "I'll see if we have any." And 10 min. later, after their cigarette break, they return. The sandwiches all come with mustard & mayo packets, so if you want ketchup, you gotta ask. Not a deal breaker, but an annoyance. I have shopped at this Jewel for 6 years. I have no complaints at all. People are all nice, store is neat and has everything I need. I shop at another store in a pinch, but always come back to this Jewel or South Elgin to shop regularly. Sales are good and produce is fine. Staff always recognizes the regulars. OK Jewel - must be new management or something? There are OODLES of baskets right by the entry door when you come IN the store. Hooray! There are even some of the smaller carts available now which is a nice touch. The store looks cleaner, there is no longer overstock on top of the shelves.. the vegetables even look nice! There seems to be a little more variety in that department which was needed. The only thing I found peculiar on one of my last visits - I went in specifically looking for a whole chicken. I complained to the kid behind the counter when they hadn't refilled my prescription after two days, and his attitude was to wash his hands of it- they emailed the doctor, what more could they do? I said that if it was his mother's prescription I would bet he would get on the phone with the doctor's office and follow up in person. At this point, the pharmacist came over with a major attitude, demanding to know why it was "their responsibility" to follow up with the doctor (uhm, because that's your job...) and proceeded to lecture me about personal responsibility (I'm a middle-aged professional with a happy marriage and two well-cared for children- I don't need to be lectured about responsibility like a feckless teenager). I told him I could easily take my business to the Walgreens next door and he sneered at me with a smug grin, telling me sure, I could do that all right. All he needed to say was "No problem. We' can follow up with the doctor's office tomorrow." I would have been a happy customer. Instead, he lost a whole family's business. He acted like he didn't need or want it, so he doesn't get it from here on out. read more
