This is a pretty large Jewel-Osco located at the south end of the huge and heavily populated Glen community.  It is clean, bright, and well stocked also.  We drop in here on occasion when in the area. Their parking lot is usually moderately filled as there may be spillover parking usage from nearby and popular restaurants Wildfire and Ēma.  With The Glen so nearby, they are set up to handle a pretty high volume of business.  Overall, one of the better and more impressive Jewel-Osco's in our general vicinity. read more

This Jewel-Osco is located at The Glen, and they are one of the larger Jewels I've seen! They are very well-stocked, and I was able to find the beef version of the Pizza Puffs here, which were plentiful. The self-checkout could use work, as the staff is more on the slower end. Also, keep your hawk eyes on, as they may scan multiple times of the same item and overcharge you. Check your receipts before exiting! On Friday, I came to purchase flowers for Valentine's Day. I approached the counter with two bouquets to get wrapped into one. I realized the three ladies working there were extremely busy for obvious reasons but were delighted to wrap my flowers. This location is well worth the 8 minute drive from the Waukegan Rd location. The store is much cleaner, well stocked, and friendlier then the one 8 minutes away. It has also been remodeled which is a huge plus. It is is large store with a large seasonal section at the front of the store, ample check outs and self check outs too. There's always someone around to help out, and that's not the case for the other location. All in all, one of the better Jewel stores in the area read more

Jewel is inferior to Mariano's and the "gone too soon" chain of Dominick's. Wherever you go, this seems to be the case. Jewel is not laid out very well. I had two nice employees point me in the direction of a specific product, but it wasn't in the size I wanted. Of course, even though they said it must not be there, it ultimately was there, in the size I wanted, in the checkout line. Speaking of lines... I get that at 7am you don't need a ton of lanes open because it's not peak hours. But people are trying to get to work and don't need to wait in a SUPER slow 5-person line. That's unnecessary and shows that they don't really care too much about customers' time. read more

This is the "nicest" Jewel in all of Glenview, Skokie, Niles, and Park Ridge (a Dominick's conversion, obviously), and it's very convenient to my evening commute, but I am fed up with their checkout lines. Sometimes there are only two lanes open, sometimes three, but you are always guaranteed to wait at least ten minutes. And there is almost never an express lane open. For a while I thought that this was an evening problem, but I have seen it even worse around lunchtime. I have no idea what the weekends are like, but weekday evenings and afternoons are the pits. Budget your time accordingly. Come on, management--you don't need a Harvard MBA to understand that you need to staff up for peak times. Just glance at your checkout lines at 12:30 or 5:30 on a weekday and try to understand how frustrating it is for your customers to have to spend precious minutes waiting in line with just a jug of milk and some cat food. read more

The fried chicken is delicious and the meal pack (chicken, sides & rolls) prices can't be beat, especially if you're feeding a large group of people like I was. Custom birthday cakes are wonderful, too. I ordered an 8" round, double-layer birthday cake for a co-worker with a custard & fruit filling and it was less than $20. I want to give Ryan, the new spirits/wine/beer manager, kudos for his customer focus and suggestions. It is not often that you see a person take so much time to provide input and go above and beyond to help customers! I was patiently waiting for him while he was assisting a older lady. She had a MILLION questions and I noticed he was patient, friendly, and offering her solutions to her requests! I was impressed! Also, he helped with my wine and liquor requests and told me to buy more to get a bigger discount. He also went above and beyond to call me when an item was received by the store! Customer service from somebody who was at the time "in charge" was beyond disrespectful and it was unbelievable. This happened a couple months back however I have just now been able to retrieve my yelp account and haven't forgotten. As you can see I put 20 dollars in coins into the machine expecting to get my receipt but this showed up instead. I asked an employee and she told me she has no idea why it did that or how to fix it and get my money but that I can come back the next day when a manager was there. I came back and asked customer service to speak to a manager. I took these pictures specifically incase they assumed I was lying. I told the lady at the customer service who claimed that she was the one in charge what had happened and she immediately upon approach was disrespectful. She had very dull answers and kept countlessly repeating "If you don't have the receipt from the machine I can't give you the money". I told her every time that, I KNOW THAT BUT INSTEAD OF GETTING THE RECEIPT IT SHOWED ME THIS. She didn't believe the pictures until I got the employee from the day before to come vouch for me. Overall in the end she rudely said she's not gonna help me and this was the worst experience i've had with a business. I never get into any type of altercations but when I needed help this lady gave me a disgusting attitude and acted very immaturely. Id recommend visiting another jewel osco nearby to avoid encountering this disrespectful piece of art, because I'm warning, that your experience is bound to be nothing but unpleasant if you meet this woman. About a week ago, one of the store managers, Lynn must have been on her way to work. It was just before 9am. She was driving irrationally behind me. Tailgating me the entire way. Traffic was very heavy and I couldn't possibly drive any faster. As she turned into the Jewel parking lot, she flipped me off. I clearly recognized her a I USED TO shop at Jewel a lot. Btw, she drives a light colored Subaru. I would recommend that Lynn give herself a few extra minutes to get to work so that she doesn't drive so crazy! read more

This jewel is so terrible at getting people out of the store. I'm currently standing in line and there's one express lane open and 2 checkout lanes. One bagger between the two. I can tell you in my lane alone there are about 15 people with *full* shopping carts and just the same amount of people in the other two lanes. Where are all the employees?! Get everyone up here!! Sound the alarm, people! Jeez. I'll give it 5 stars based on groceries and cleanliness though. But needs more service. read more

Understaffed, scuzzy bathroom, overpriced produce. Now they moved everything around and you can't find anything - aisles aren't marked. Let's play hide and seek with the groceries. I don't have time for a scavenger hunt. Cars are constantly parallel parked at the entrances by selfish jerks who have to run in and get their starbucks, blocking access for everyone else. Do not, I repeat do not buy a custom cake from their bakery. I went in yesterday gave the cake decorator my order gave her a picture of exactly what I wanted, broke down the colors (I did say that I wanted the middle splatter to be neon blue), type of cake, everything and she didn't follow the colors the details nothing and it was a very simplistic design. I made sure to ask what the the minimum time requirement was for placing an order and she said 24 hours and I gave her longer than that. It was my first time getting a custom cake, I was going to do it myself but I work full time and go to school full time so I thought this would be a great idea to save me time. I know it strange to review a Jewel but I live about 3 miles from 3 different Jewels and I always choose this one even if its farther from where I am driving. The store is relatively new but it is extremely clean and well organized. The produce is fresher than the nearby Jewels so they must make sure they keep it watched.!The best part is the staff - polite, responsive, and neat. Other grocery stores are not always moving aisle to aisle organizing shelfs and sweeping. Even the shopping carts are clean in the front. read more

It is what it is. I'm not going to compare this place with Mariano's or Whole Foods, just like it isn't a Aldi or Food 4 Less. It is what it is. When Dominicks made their way out, I can't say I wasn't a bit disappointed. Then a few months later, there went the Redbox machine. But so many things stayed in place. They still have Starbucks and they still have Chase. Best of all, they've still got most of the original staff to include Chicagoland's very own Oompa Loompa. That's right, an actual Oompa Loompa. I haven't taken a picture because it might be rude, but you've got to make your way down to see for yourself. Note: Just the other day, I was buying milk. And guess what I saw?... Lucerne milk in the fridge. Omg, could this be?! I searched on my phone and verified what I had thought, Safeway had merged with Albertsons (Dominicks has merged with Jewel). So I looked around the store some more and sure enough... Open Nature, Organics, and other Dominick's products back on the shelves. Very cool. read more

Most of this store seems OK. My biggest gripe is the deli, WORST I have experienced, with the bakery not much better. I occasionally stop off at different locations based on which one is in route home. I like stopping for the prepared chicken and fresh bread for a quick meal. The chicken, at 4:00 p.m., has usually been sitting under the heat lamp since 9-10 a.m. Once in a while you can get lucky and find it from only 1-2 p.m. Still, by the time to sit down, it is been sitting for over 3 hours. So, needless to say, this chicken is usually so dry you need to choke it down with lots of liquid. Even the bakery is limited with bread that has been out all day. My wife stops at a different Jewel on her way home and they frequently have FRESH baked bread for the "after work" crowd. read more

I was getting lunch meat at the deli and the woman who was going to assist me was eating a sandwich. When she saw me she stopped eating and wiped off her gloves. I asked her to change her gloves and she made a smart comment to me. Then when she was slicing my lunch meat I noticed some scrud on the blade she was slicing my meat with. I made a comment to her about it and she gave me a smart remark. She was so rude. I can't believe that a Jewel staff person can talk like that to customers. read more

The employees that work here are genuinely nice people. The store has a good selection of grocery items and the prices are reasonable. The big problem with the store is the quality of the "fresh" food (produce, meat, seafood). I have consistently bought produce or seafood that looked fresh in the store only to find when I get home that it is not fresh or edible. I also find that the expiration date of the dairy products is unusually close to today's date. It makes me wonder if the prices are lower because they're buying food at the end of its shelf life. I can shop here if I just need items from the center of the store. I really wish the purchasers would buy fresher food. read more

Very disappointing. Stopped in around 4:15 to pick up some fried chicken for dinner. Guess what, no fried chicken for 1/2 hour. This is poor planning if you ask me, people start getting off work about 4:00 and want to pick something up on their way home. Also, this deli tends not to use the numbers and it sometimes causes problems. I've been in line when a fight has almost broken out. This evening, the women who came after me was waited on first. If you are not going to use the numbers, you need to pay attention who is first. I go to this Jewel because it is convenient, but I prefer the one on Dempster and Greenwood in Niles. The service is better and the chicken is better. The store is smaller, that is the only problem. read more

Bought pre made dinner from here. Chicken wings for me and chicken strips for kids. My kids didn't like them. I thought that was odd so took a bite. They were hard. As if they had been cooked the prior day and sat out since. My wings had good flavor but again the wings tasted as if the were left overs from the day before. Very disappointing. read more

Need more cashier lanes open when they are busy. You cant run in and get anything in five minutes. You will be waiting 20 minutes. Very slow. Also one thing , one time cashier was very rude to my mom when she was using customer service there. Store could use organization and little better cashiers. A couple people there are friendly but not all of them. It may just be this store. I had some nice experiences at other Jewel Stores. I still like Jewel-Osco. Just want them to get better. read more
