I wouldn't recommend this store or even this chain. The customer service is lacking (especially on the phone) and aside from the produce, the prices are higher than other stores. I sent my partner there for two item, I was on the phone on speaker with him as he asked FIVE different employees for help finding the two items. Most of them said they were rearranging the store, NONE of them helped him find either item even though we asked. Some of them said they were out of stock. I am very disappointed with the service at the deli department today. I've been waiting for over 30 minutes just to be served. I understand that customers have to take a number and wait their turn, but this is the Fourth of July holiday weekend, and only two employees are working behind the deli counter. The employees are doing the best they can, and I appreciate their effort, but they simply don't have enough support to handle the volume of customers. The line has become extremely backed up, causing unnecessary delays for everyone. What was most frustrating was seeing a manager in the deli area who was clearly aware of the long line and did nothing to assist the employees or help move things along. That reflects poor management and a lack of concern for both the staff and paying customers. With so many people looking for work, there is no reason for the deli to be so understaffed during a busy holiday weekend. Better scheduling and management support are needed to provide the level of service customers expect. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so improvements can be made for both customers and employees. read more

Jewel has become a scam. They advertise sale prices but but unless you have the app and know how to apply it you will get overcharged. Be very careful and return items for which you've been overcharged. Better yet, there are other grocery stores that you can scan safely without fear of being price gouged. read more

I like shopping here because it's convenient. I like the produce and meat department. I don't shop the deli counter anymore because they are always understaffed (?). Ok...this review is for the deli. I am sooooo tired of the understaffed deli. It is also annoying to have ONE person waiting on customers while 2 or 3 deli employees slowly walk around in no hurry to help. This visit probably deserves one star but the employee helping me was very nice. What bothered me most is the piles of sliced cheese sitting on the back counter obviously waiting to be packaged that looked dried out and oily at the same time which indicates they must have been there for some time. I am hoping they didn't end up selling the cheese but that also means a lot of waste. When I spend most of my grocery shopping time waiting in the deli it makes me unhappy. read more

Mold and expired produce often. A elderly woman at self checkout watches me with a hawk eye as if I'm stealing. I come every week. I scan, it says to weigh it and she telling me to weigh it before the machine can finish its sentence while 7 feet away. Amongst other things. First time I ever felt profiled. I never was a big fan of Jewel. Growing up my parents wanted to go to Jewel. I always prefer Dominic's. But they went out of business. I have avoided Jewel as they are overpriced. Service isnt exactly friendly & now my new reason to dislike them. Their experience for drive up & go- grocery pick up sucks. Half the time stuff gets substituted cause they are out. The substitution s are dumb since they guess at what you think would be acceptable . No creamer? They give you plain unflavored stuff. Or sugar free. Id rather not have it. Today, I pull up and call the number and right away the guy asked me if I'm DoorDash? I said no I'm a regular customer. He seems all surprised , and then goes through his checklist asking me questions. What, since it's 12 noon on a weekday and I'm calling you to pick up, and I'm not a woman, that makes me a door Dash person?? No dude, I took today off for personal reasons. Im tired of door dash! I miss the way it used to be , before Covid. Going back to Jewel, considering they are union, they have some dumb employees. Start retraining, quit guessing at things, and talk to your customer. Assume NOTHING! Start listening. And start lowering prices. You have about a half dozen competitors within a mile or two. Start checking their prices and get more competitive. I advise anyone not interested in getting Covid to shop somewhere else until Jewel mandates everyone wear a mask like Illinois law requires. I'm sorry to say I won't be going back after 24 years. Having pancreatic cancer I need to shop at a place that follows Illinois law that everyone wears a mask, so I don't die from getting Covid. I brought it up to employees that customers were not wearing masks and coughing all over produce. That's right they intentionally were coughing on produce and Jewel employees allowed them to continue to walk around the store coughing on things. Someone should have had them leave or put on a mask. Possibly even be arrested for the intent of trying to get other people sick. I stopped shopping and left immediately when I saw Jewel wasn't doing anything about it. Not sure why I decided to go into a grocery store for dinner, but I was running out of options in the outskirts of the cute little town of Minooka. While I contemplated Culver's I decided to venture into Jewel-Osco to purchase a prepared salad. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a full dinner bar. While I thought about buying the huge $5 salads in the cooler, I ended up choosing to build my own salad. I am glad that I chose this route. The salad bar had a wide range of vegetables, dressings, pastas and the like. For the vegetarians and carnivores, they also had hot foods, including soup. I decided on Minestrone soup to accompany my salad. Compared to Whole Foods, the price was reasonable at $14 (my salad was huge). The next night, I almost decided to go back, but didn't want to go to far from the hotel so I went to Subway instead. read more

I've dealt with the aisles being moved around. I've dealt with obvious corporate people lurking around asking me questions while I stand awkwardly holding some tampons. While I'm not thrilled with Jewel trying to become Mariano's I appreciate the effort to improve and add amenities. But there's something lacking and I can't quite put my finger on it. Today I decided to stop for a treat on the way out. My kid is sick. I'm on zero sleep. Holy crap Starbucks right there on my way out like an oasis. I ordered an iced green tea latte. I got it in a good amount of time and headed out; I had my son's medicine and I wanted to get home to give it to him. So I didn't pay attention to what I got until I got to the car. I basically paid $5 for green tinted milk. What I thought was a design on the cup was actually the unmixed green tea powder. Too bad I didn't notice that til I took a drink and got a mouthful of it. I tried to salvage it when I got home by mixing it up better but it was too late-it had settled into a green tea patty at the bottom of my cup. I also had some awesome green chunks in my teeth. If that, couple with boogers and barf on my clothes, doesn't scream sexy I don't know what does. read more

Gas stations, chain grocery stores or department stores...there's no need for me to review these locations, because you need to go there regardless. My negative review will not sway you away from a gas station if it's on your way to work and you're on E. I was in the area, and decided to stop at this Jewel for a few groceries and was so pleasantly surprised I had to add my review here. Bakery/produce: Unlike other Jewel's, you don't have to buy specialty grains or nuts/seeds in a predetermined package. Here, they have containers that you can take from and weigh your desired amount. Love this! Variety: Huge amounts here. I feel like I found more here than in other locations - and items that I haven't found in years. There were also several large Hispanic areas (frozen and in the aisles), which I loved. Check-out: The person bagging my items was, from everything I could determine, the franchise owner. And he was hilarious. I LOVED that he was rolling up his sleeves and getting involved and helping where it was needed. Overall, while I wouldn't go out of my way for a Jewel, I will definitely stop in if I'm in the area. Definitely recommend it! read more

I was born and raised a Jewel customer ... growing up ... we went to Jewel every single day. I am extremely brand loyal as a consumer. That being said, I will never go to this location again. And it all hinges on one thing ... the Deli. The staff is rude, slow and down right combative with the customers. On more than 1 occasion I have seen the staff argue with the customers. 30-45 minute waits are not unusual... and when your number is up ... they make it feel like they are doing you a favor by slowly fulfilling your order. Now, I understand that it is a high traffic store, and I could even deal with a reasonable wait time, but then to be treated like I'm at the post office is unacceptable. There are other options in the area that have figured this out. And though it would break my mother's heart, I will Be shopping at Mariano's from now on. read more

I like this Jewel more so than the others in the area. The staff all seem to be friendly and happy to help. The pharmacy staff, in particular, is a nice bunch of folks. The store is always clean and neat, although more often than not they're out of some staples. All in all, it's a solid 4 star store. read more

Ok for a grocery store, but not very competitive in grocery aisle products. Produce sometimes not the best looking, but they do compete in produce prices. Went for cheap chicken Monday at jewel. I took my ticket and right in front of me a lady was returning a bag of chicken. I overheard her say she wanted it replaced because when she got home it was not crispy and she handed the bag of chicken over the counter. There were several workers behind the counter. I hear my number being called and I placed my order. And within seconds this worker hands me a bag of chicken. I was surprised at how fast and how she filled the bag with so many other workers in the way. I grabbed the bag and said wow that's it? yes she said. I walked away and then put my hand on the bottom of the bag and it was barely warm. I then remembered it was weird that I got it so quick. Then it came to me. I think I was handed the chicken that the other customer had brought back from home because when she got home it was not crispy. I returned to the deli and asked the worker who had given me the bag why was it cold? She said huh? I said my chicken is almost cold and I did not see you get it out of the warming tray. She said oh we had an extra one already made but I will be happy to give you a new order. I says yes please and when she gave it to me it was hot as expected. It was then that I believe she handed me the bag the other customer has returned. I was so glad i got a new order but then was a bit disappointed that I was given what another customer had taken home and returned.
