Because of my career, I shopped at a lot of different locations. I gave this store 2 stars for the appearance of the store. It's neat, clean and pretty organized. But the people in the deli are slow, rude and act like you're disturbing them. They need to be in the back cooking and not dealing with customers. There is one young man that has zero people skills. I was in today, Saturday, February 22, and it was very busy and only 2 cashiers were open, and even with all the customers they closed one register down. The self checkout had lines into the aisle. Very poor customer service, please do better! read more

Let me first say that I like this Jewel. I actually go out of my way to shop this store rather than the one closest to me. While having my groceries rung up the young man checking me out started to text on his phone. When done he would return the phone to his pocket. It must have been on vibration because he reached into his pocket, read was on there and sent a text back. This didn't happen once during him checking me out but 3 times. He did his own bagging. He put 6 cans in one plastic bag. The remaining canned goods were in with other heavy items. The milk I had to bag myself. There was no one there to help me load all of the heavy bags into my cart. Usually don't shop here at this location however, it was just conveniently located. On my way home. I had to pick up some groceries. They're vegan section is very depleted. I actually prefer the jewel on Schaumburg Road. When I asked to see if they had anything else in the back, the guy said "" this is all we have"which I felt was strange because they were unloading a bunch of stuff in the dairy section. Nonetheless, I will be going back to my regular jewel for my normal groceries and every day items. read more

First and last time visit. Obviously management doesn't require staff to greet, smile or speak in complete sentences. Awful customer experience at bakery and floral today. I asked questions in both depts and the response was an "uh-huh". No offering of assistance or thank you's when I walked away with $83 of cake and flowers. I am a Jewel shopper but I worry for this store. The produce tends to look old. I always make sure to check the expiration dates on the food. I have come home only to find expired food. I check my recipe too to make sure advertised groceries do show the correct price. They clearly need help because there is only one to two lanes open with long lines waiting to checkout. Sometimes they'll open another line but not always. Just not the greatest Jewel. read more

Coming here used to be a lot of fun for me. However, I don't do it as much as I used to now. The staff are rude and don't give nice treatment to their customers. The shop is okay but not the worker. There are times that my items were mixed in with my bread. They just dump my items in a bag and don't give a damn about what goes inside. Furthermore, their Nes quick price is exorbitant! It's possible that I'll have to contemplate returning. And also, it seems like every time I come here, which is every other 2  day, the workers appear to be unhappy. I can't stand with that kind of attitude but I don't give a shit now since their product is what I am looking for and not them, but atleast train the staff first, cause that matters the most when it comes to business. I'm on the verge of abandoning this establishment since the personnel appear to be stressed by my presence, but never mind, I'll look for another shop first. read more

I could not get over how dirty this store is. The floors were filthy and I went to get some salmon and it was like warm the whole case was like that and the bacon was brown!!! I come to this grocery store as it is conveniently located close to my house. I am familiar where all the food items are and know exactly which isle they are stocked in. That's really the only reason I come here. I know there's plenty of other Grocery stores out there that will give you more bang for your bucks, like Garden Fresh and Caputos. In fact, Ive been finding myself going more and more to Garden Fresh as they have fresher produce at a much lower price, and they offer allot more exotic fruits and vegetables from other countries from Asia and south America. With Jewel, I found some of their more exotic fruits way overpriced, such as their avocados, Kiwi fruits, papaya and mangos (which is not the ripest) so I don't even bother buying here. For everyday Household necessities, like toilet paper, garbage bags, and shampoos, I go to Target as they are substantially lower in price. Also, I noticed Jewel will sometimes offer their packaged salads on sale for 50% off, but have noticed the expiration date had expired. The nice thing about this location is the employees are pretty friendly and more then happy to assist you, and the store is always well kept and clean. read more

I agree with the previous poster. In addition we've gotten rotten meat from this Jewel several times. They're always very accommodating about taking it back but still!!! Other options include Fiesta market which is just east of Jewel. They have some really nice meats (great skirt steak, say arrachera and ask for machine) and great cheap veggies. The ONLY reason I shop here is because it is so close to my house. This store is very poorly managed and understaffed. The employees are nice and try their best, but the quality of their produce and meats is awful, there are frequently items past their expiration date, and they often don't have items advertised in their flyer. Their baggers are obviously not trained, if there even are baggers (even on busy days). Much of their produce is pre-packaged in plastic bags which is really wasteful and makes it hard to buy the quantity you want. I have been to other Jewel stores that were much nicer, but this store needs some serious improvements. read more

I go to this jewel quite often, and for the most part it is ok. But I have noticed some things which I have to mention. Since they put in this Lucerne generic brand in, I may shop some where else. I like the essential brand they had before. But this Lucerne brand is awful! The Lucerne egg beaters is runny...and the fat free milk, taste like your drinking watered down milk! The ground beef in this store, seems always to be brown inside, and I usually have to take it back. Now at the point where I may shop at another store! I have been to the deli dept, and requested some French fries to be put into a bucket, since I was having a lot of people over. Much to my surprise, the lady behind the deli that day, said they don't do that! I had to go get the manager, who filled my request! I have walked down Isles to hear two employees saying to each other how they hated working at jewel! When I said to the two of these ladies, you should be lucky you have a job! They run out of things when there is a sale, then try to find someone to ask about the product is almost impossible! There needs to be a whole lot of improvement in this store, and with the personal! The person who gave the manager two stars was being nice, really nice. I have never had a good experience there. They do rip off customers with poor quality food and the manger doesn't mean to be out of it, he just is out of it. I really dont believe that this Jewel wants to be bad, they just cant fix it. There is a reason that this Jewel has two and a half stars. Keeping it short & sweet. The store manager was facing the shelves. Not just a couple things here and there, but instead actually facing multiple end-caps. I thought that this was good for two reasons. 1 - He was easy to find. 2 - I like a boss that does the dirty work, too. He was nice enough to help me find things in this unfamiliar store twice. I needed to grab a couple things and this Jewel was on my way home. He gets the two stars. I would have given him more, but I will explain that in a moment. I realized that I needed an Old World Rye Bread. If you want the two pound loaf, this is really something that needs to be pre-ordered and I know this. But, I didn't need it until tonight for a party that I was attending, so I asked the woman in the bake shop behind the counter if they had any at all. She said "It'll be two hours". I took out my phone to look at the time, realized that would be just fine and I could come back. I looked at her and said "Okay". She looked at me with disgust. I can't think of any other way to describe it. Then she said "Last name". I looked at her and said "No, never mind, I'm fine. Thanks" and I started to walk away. She said "I just want your last name". And, I told her that I was not interested in coming back to deal with her after she looked at me like my request was putting her out too much. She copped an attitude and said she hurt her finger or something. No apology. I walked away. After relocating the store manager and replaying the event, he basically said okay and walked away. Here's the deal Jewel folks and anyone who cares to listen... There's a reason that it's easy to park at your stores. No one is there. You are overpriced 75% of the time and the only reason to go here is for the special items that you cannot get anywhere else. People are paying for that and service with a smile. It goes a long way. If I were to dare portray an attitude towards my customers, I would lose my job. I have to wonder how some people end up on the 'front lines' in retail. Honestly, the bake shop woman could have produced ten loaves of the bread that I needed and unless she would have apologized, I would have left without it. This place has the best customer service around, from the clean restrooms to the people who run lottery and everything in between. I go in here for all my cookie and milk needs and the people in grocery and front end always seem to put a smile on my face. Michael gave me a smile when I asked him "where's the Oreo ice cream?" He simply smiled and said "let me show you.". When proceeding to check out I went into this girl Ashley's line, and she was very nice, well too nice actually. She said she loved me and I was like lol you Wildin'. But in all seriousness, this place is very good for shopping. Prices are high. The selections are decent. Deli prices are very high, but it does have the saving grace of their honey wings, which when hot are five star. Produce is fair, meat selection is only fair as well. Target is a better shopping experience, but lacks the breadth of selection of this store. This neighborhood can feel unsafe after dark. The free medical clinic and the rent to own store don't help this plaza any. read more

I am just adding to the last review that I am worried for this Jewel. I think they are money hungry and they do not care about putting money back into the store to make it desirable for people to come too. They probably have not put a dime into new shopping karts in 25 years. More than half of them are broken, you cannot even put your little kids into the karts because that section does not open or is laying in the bottom of the kart. I saw one kart with the wheel's rubber totally removed to the point you cannot even push the kart and they still left it to the public. Many karts do not have the protective grip on them. Wheels are loose, bent, to the point you cannot steer but left or right and never straight. Stay away from the glass bottles. it usually takes trying 4 to 5 karts before finding one that works. Sad in my book, that is why Tony's is always packed. Jewel's meat prices say it all, I purchase meat maybe once a year from them. Open your eyes and stop being money hungry and spend of little.
