I love coming to Jewell for just about any occasion. From sunday brunch to new years eve, or a date night catching a live performance, this is such a fun vibe in the capitol district. It's a large venue but feels very quaint and moody, perfect for getting a craft cocktail, excellent meal and great service. You can enter from the districts parking lot or through the marriott. Very inconspicuously tucked away inthe northwest corner of the district, but has a lot to offer. read more

Had a wonderful time at the Gospel Brunch at the Jewell. There are two entrances. One from the Capitol district outside and one from the inside of the Marriott. When you walk in, you are greeted immediately by hospitable staff who will lead you to your seat. During your stay, the staff are so eager to fulfill to your needs. The moment my water was getting empty there was always someone who was there to fill it. When my plate was empty, there was someone to take my plate away. The staff was so kind and ready to make my experience something to remember. The food.. when you think of a brunch buffet you think of basic items like eggs, bacon, sausage, and waffles with fruit. This isn't your regular buffet. There was so many great items on this buffet such as three kinds of deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, three different kinds of deserts, plus your assorted normal brunch items. There are food items to cater to all people. The most memorable items were the sauce on the French toast which is a syrup based almond coating that was so good you could drink it. The chicken was cooked perfectly which is something that's hard to do when you are bulk cooking. The shrimp and grits were so memorable. The music.. as a follower of Christ I was excited to see how the music would be. The music gave versions of slow and up tempo gospel music. The crew was so talented and did a lot to make sure the crowd had a good and memorable experience, they got the crowd involved as well. If you are looking for a fun way to worship, this should be right up your alley. Everything being said, you would think this is at least $80... the all you can eat brunch and music cost $45. I don't think there's an endless brunch that you can find in Omaha with the variety and quality of the items they have for anywhere near $45. Such an incredible value! The Jewell is a beautiful space that has Sunday Gospel Brunch, different music events, and had the capability of doing more. I always thought it would be a great venue to host a comedy night or bringing in comedians similar to the Funny Bone would. Would love to come back soon! read more

This is the perfect place to go on a chilly Omaha evening! We went last night and heard some phenomenal Christmas music intermixed with some gospel. They offer fun cocktails and wines by the glass, as well as a good selection of small plates and desserts. This time we had the sliders, which were so delicious...but we've ordered various things over the years and the food is always great! The venue is such a special place, tucked away in the Marriott, and during the holidays, the whole Capital District is decorated so magically! Go check it out. The jewell is a nice venue to hear good music live music and along with a full bar, they have a decent food menu. I gave them 3 stars because of my frustration with them being extremely non-responsive. First of all they have a New York phone number that no one ever answers, when I was able to leave a message, no one ever called me back. Eventually the VM was full and over a 3 day period it was never cleared. I am sure there is some type of way to get in touch with them because they book bands, they just don't want to talk to customers. I was calling because my husband and BFF birthdays are 1 day apart, so always celebrate together. We had a party of 12 people and I was calling ahead, I started calling 2 weeks before the show we were going to, to see if I could reserve tables for us and to ask if I could bring a cake. I left about 3 phone messages before the VM got full and I messaged them several times on FB. No one EVER responded. Since I had already bought tickets for the show, we went anyway, but their total disregard for customer contact left a bad taste in mouth, don't know if I'll go back. read more

We celebrated our 42nd Anniversary in this beautiful venue enjoying the musical stylings of Matt Wallace & the Jazz Kings. We had the steak prix fixe complete with asparagus and mashed potatoes from J Gilbert's. The steak melted in your mouth. I enjoyed Prosecco with a splash of Elderflower liquer and hubby enjoyed The Fairy Nectar IPA. Dessert was a sumptuous chocolate cake very rich and smooth. There were two shows and the musicians played a 75 minute set that was terrific. Great to see live music again after the long absence. Checked this spot out last Wednesday and I was impressed. The place Gad the classic jazz club look but was still modern. The entertainment what night was excellent! I may be biased because two friends performed but it was great. The room sounds perfect and I loved the stage. My only complaint was the drink we had called "on the sunny side of the street" was not good. It had the consistency of cough syrup. My fiancé and I asked that we could switch our drinks for another and the wait staff obliged. There was also a mix up on the ticket but they righted it. I will definitely be back. I am happy a spot like this is in Omaha! crazy to see great talent here for only $10! read more

Nice to see a new jazz club in town, this one's right in the up and coming Capitol District. Interestingly we went during their opening night, so came in totally open-minded without any preconceived ideas. This place has a really cool feel with the downstairs ramp leading to a dimly lit jazz bar. Ample amount of space both in the bar lounge and main stage area. They offer a decent amount of drinks and food items to keep you busy and satisfied throughout the showing. Sounds like this place will get a lot of great acts along the way, the artist we watched (2/9 @830) was awesome, from the piano and instrumentals to the vocal range of the main artist. Such a great addition to Omaha. Eat dinner while enjoying live music...yay!! This will easily be a 5 star destination soon! You order your show tickets online and order from the menu when you arrive. The seating was very comfortable. High and low top tables and really not a bad table in the house. Dimly lighted, this club had a classy and intimate feel to it. The décor makes you feel like you are at a high class Jazz club. It still has that "new" smell to it. We went on Valentine's day so the menu was surprisingly different than their website's normal menu. The website made no mention that their normal menu wasn't available and there was only a $40 prix fixe option available. We had arrived early to order the charcuterie board at leisure before the show started then order entrees. Already knew what I was having for my entrée and dessert and as luck would have it none of these things made the prix fixe menu for Valentine's day. In fact I would have spent less money on my choices vs the prix fixe cost, but still glad we went as everything else was great! I want to mention also that the owners stopped to see how things were and when I discussed my disappointment with the surprise menu were extremely apologetic and friendly which clearly show they care and this place will be a success. This has only been open for a couple of weeks I think so all is still a bit of a learning curve for small kinks! My dining partner did enjoy the chicken gumbo for a starter. I started with a spinach salad that was good and ordered the fried chicken thighs which typically would be served on butter grits but this night they were served on wild rice...rice is not my favorite but the chicken was good. Deep fried boneless chicken thighs with a delicious Cajun type sauce drizzled atop that were tasty but bordered on tasting burnt. 30 less seconds in the fryer maybe but they were still very good! My dining partner ordered the Cajun pasta. It was very bland to me but asked for some salt and pepper (none on the table) and a splash of those seasonings brought the dish to life and was very much enjoyed. The entertainment is top notch! We saw Kandace Springs perform and really enjoyed it. Professional and entertaining show! Love the option of an early show with dinner!! So happy The Jewell opened in Omaha! All in all we will definitely be back...you should check it out!! read more

My visit occurred Pre Covid. I was excited to check out The Jewell as someone who has a great appreciation for live music. We visited one night after dinner at J Gilbert's Steakhouse which is also located in the Marriott. We arrived early enough to get a table right up front by the stage. We did order drinks which were reasonably priced and the service was prompt and courteous. I liked the soft blue lighting and the overall atmosphere of this venue made it feel very intimate . The entertainment for the evening was a local band called Stan & The Chain Gang many of its members also play in other groups as well. The set list was full of blues and soul classics, which I love. I highly recommend checking out The Jewell to experience great live music and will return again in the future. read more

Omaha needs to support this place! Finally, some good live jazz music in a first-rate venue. Those that know me are well aware of my acute sense of hearing. The Jewell has a Steinway piano and the ceiling has acoustical panels. It is a smaller Holland Center. I was in heaven! It also has proper lighting to create the right vibe. The owner has somewhat patterned it after the Dakota Club in Minneapolis. I hope we get some of the same acts. And speaking of performers, Omaha native Subby Anzaldo's Frank Sinatra act would sell out for weeks. The drinks are good and cleverly named. The food is New Orleans inspired but with the obligatory Nebraska steak. My only suggestion is to spice up the gumbo more and use Stoyisch sausage. Pecan pie was great; no skimping on the nuts. read more

It's not easy to find, park at the Marriott and walk around for awhile, when you see the signs for J Gilberts, you'll find it. Cool club atmosphere. Music is great, jazzy, dark club scene is very cool. Service is excellent. Omaha needs a jazz club (the quartet was not jazz but Rhythm & Blues the night we were there). Servers are attentive and have to move around in the dark and move quietly. They do a great job. Food is not good. It's from the Marriott so should be good, but it's not. Brussel Sprouts ($10) we skipped the sun flowers seeds and still too way salty to eat. Cheeseburger ($14) meat was dry, sort of funky from being grilled earlier, not freshly cooked, needed the cheese, and spicy habanero jam that comes with it, and still way way too salty to eat. Spice and salt can hide a lot. BLT ($14) bacon was not fresh and was probably sitting from earlier in the day like the burger. Price was fine if the food had been ok. Total bill was about $60 before 25% tip. They have a 2 drink minimum which is fine, but they need to do a lot more to get people to eat to get more revenue for the place to make it. Music great, service great, atmosphere great, club idea great, BUT the food needs to be greatly improved. We left a very good tip for the service plus its $15 each for tickets to get in. We'll go back and just skip the grub next time. If we hadn't ordered dinner, we would have loved the joint! read more

Went for the Daniel and the Deliverance Show, for which I paid $15 a person. Ordered the hummus plate appetizer and a mocktail from the bar. I enjoyed all the food and the show. The staff was almost overly attentive. The restrooms were clean and the seats were comfy. I would go again! The hotel could make it easier to find this place by putting signs at all the elevators and entrances though. read more

My only complaint about the place was the food. I had Southern Fried Thighs and the chicken was very good. The grits were terrible! I assume they tried grits to make it more "southern", but they were very runny. I saw a review where they put the chicken over rice which would have been great in my case. My wife had crab cakes and wasn't overly impressed with them. Others in the group tried the salmon and it was ok. The music and venue were very nice and prices were in line with what one might expect. Beers were between 6 and 8 dollars. I will return, but probably only for the show, which last night was enjoyable. $10 cover for show but it was worth it. read more

The atmosphere is cool and the acoustics are amazing. We loved the music. The drink menu is interesting yet a bit on the high side. The food was not very good and EXTREMELY overpriced. Two of us had the salmon and the piece was very small for $27. The chicken thigh dinner was stringy and tasted like frozen Tyson chicken. The burger was pretty good but was not fresh and not worth the price. Bottom line: come for the music and jazzy atmosphere but have dinner somewhere else. read more

I have been here a few times, but only had the pie. This last time I went for Valentine's Day and had a full meal. First - the venue is incredible. It's a classy jazz club and was acoustically designed for music. It's not very big and all seats have a great view. Every bad we have heard here is top notch. I don't think you could go wrong with any band, and the tickets are very reasonable. Second - the food. The pecan pie that I've had a couple of times is excellent. For Valentine's Day they had a special menu. I saw it online and was very excited. I had sea bass and scallops. It was a perfectly sized portion with excellent flavor. (Please add it to the regular menu!!!) I loved every bite! We also tried a new dessert which was tastefully done. We ordered a bottle of wine so I can't comment on the cocktails. Service was good. Between the band and the food this was a perfect date night! read more

I've been here twice now and the venue is gorgeous. Some of the best acoustics in Omaha besides the Holland center. Unfortunately that's about all I've enjoyed here. The drinks and food were extremely over priced and we had to send our cocktails back because we didn't like them. The portions are very small, $22 for the tiniest charcuterie board I've ever gotten. Not only small, but disappointing quality. On top of that you're already paying the price of the tickets to enter and there's a 2 item minimum. We we able however to use our student ID's for a $5 off discount, but the bill at the end of the night was still $70 including tickets, one plate of food, and two drinks. This place is so close to hitting the mark, but the prices and quality of food are way off. I would like to say I'll come back, but so far it hasn't been worth it. We need a place like this in Omaha to thrive but I can't see how they'll make it by nickel and diming customers. Hopeful there might be some changes in the future however! read more

I really want to like this place! The atmosphere and music are great. Sadly both times we've been there I've had to track down a server to put in an order, or even to get water. Several, including the woman that ended up serving us, had walked by us many times. One time I came with students so I hope we weren't treated differently because of that. The manager seemed helpful but overall the service was lacking. That is just as important as everything else. Also some of the food is overpriced. Skip the charcuterie. I dont want to go back, but maybe I'll give it a try when we're not that hungry. read more

Came here with my husband and his friend for the live jazz performance. The atmosphere and performance was excellent, and our tickets for the show could even be included with the drinks and meal. I really enjoyed the Sophisticated Lady drink, although it was a small glass for the price. My main issue is with the food. I ordered the salmon and for $27 it did not deliver. It was a small piece that didn't have much flavor. My husband ordered the burger, which was overcooked and under seasoned as well, with fries. We had to stop somewhere after the performance because we were still hungry. I recommend going for the music and drinks, but eat before you get there. read more
