Just left this store where my wife and I have been customers for over 10 years. I wanted to have my Ebel watch's battery replaced. We have spent thousands of dollars over the years and have been pleased with the product and service. We like to shop locally, so the slightly higher prices were acceptable. Today, my business was RUDELY turned away by Steven (owner) and the reason given was because I returned a birthday gift last year for my wife. The gift was a pair of lab created 1 carat (each) diamond stud earrings. They could not find the G.I.A. certificate at the time of purchase. We decided to return the earrings the next day (unused), when they still could not find the certificate. A week later I received a call that they found the certificate. We had already purchased another "certified" pair of earrings elsewhere. Steven's behavior today was INSULTING, and I caution all buyers that the motto on their business card, "In a Store Filled With Diamonds And Gold, The Most Precious Thing Is Our Customer" isn't worth the paper it is printed on. I have two good watches that I brought to Steve on a friends' recommendation. They both needed batteries and one needed a replacement pin for one of the watchbands. To start with, I never got even a 'hello' from Steven, In fact he never even emerged from his workroom. 'Donna' was behind the counter and was very nice; she could do better. I'd gone to Brooklyn to see 'Che' who repaired watches - he would have done the job in fifteen minutes in his shop, only to find that sadly that he'd retired. The upshot - on one watch Steven forced a size 22 pin in a space meant for a size 18. which bulged and broke off within a day. On the other watch he needlessly removed several pieces from the band which is now too tight. I'll put in the correct pin on my own - not a big deal. And this took two weeks!! If he didn't want the work he should have said so and that would have been OK. And yes, I was overcharged. Well, maybe he's better with jewelry. Wucchh! Ziggie B read more

ALWAYS a smile to greet you and they treat you like you are the most important customer in the world no matter how small or large your purchase. I have had repairs done to PERFECT and inexpensively. Steven is SO KIND and I will NEVER forget something he did for us that he probably doesn't even remember/realize........after my husband was killed, one of our four kids wanted to have her ears pierced finally (at 7 years old, she wanted to have it done like her big sister)....... we went in and Steven and the staff were friendly and kind as always, welcoming and happy to see us (we are regulars but how often do you have the need to purchase high end jewelry? Normally we'd be having repairs, cleaning and of course for any birthday or special occasion Sean would go to Steven - my treasured heart necklace from our FIRST Valentine's Day as husband and wife is from there since Sean didn't believe in crossing the bridge for ANYTHING! lol...... his quote was "we have everything we need here in Long Beach; why cross that bridge!?!") Me, on the other hand, I'd go to the mall ! LOL....... ANYWAY..... we came in for the ear piercing and they refused to accept our money. They pierced Mallory's ears with beautiful diamonds (.25 carat TW) and would NOT accept our money. I thought that was just so KIND and such a class act. I, of course, never forgot that and always will be a loyal customer (we already were) ..... it was just a thoughtful thing that was completely unexpected. Our little girl still has those first pair of "starter" earrings. I love the way Steven and the staff treats you and ALWAYS makes sure you are satisfied and from small repairs to large purchases you KNOW you are going to get the BEST quality at a fair price and treated like the most important customer in the world. Why on earth would you go to the diamond district and deal with WHO KNOWS WHAT when you are GUARANTEED a great product from great people at Steven's? Steven is a very talented jeweler. He designed a diamond bangle bracelet for me that is just unbelievable and today he enlarged a family heirloom ring that could no longer fit over an enlarged knuckle. It was done masterfully and you could not tell that any repair had been done. I found the quality of work to be terrible and the customer service to be poor. I had a pair of earrings made, wore them once, the stone fell out and was lost. I went in asking for a refund for the posts and they said they would replace the stone. I said I didn't want that because the stones had sentimental value I just wanted a refund to which Steven yelled at me for insulting his work. and said they don't issue refunds and the only option is for him to replace the stone.
