Took my daughter here who is celiac for her birthday brunch. We were pleasantly surprised that the entire menu and kitchen are gluten free. this was like a Celiacs dream restaurant. The food was amazing, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant was packed and the menu items were very diverse.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress was very attentive and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the overall ambiance was kind of like a diner vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken tenders were moist and the breading was so flavorful. They are known for their fried chicken dishes so I had to try it. And it did not disappoint. This restaurant idea of being all gluten free with such an amazing variety of dishes needs to be copied and multiplied as the food was off the charts and in todays day and age of people needing gluten free options beside salad and corn chips, this was a must go to. Highly recommend!

Now I was here from out of town this visit and I feel the quality has declined some. While the menu has expanded and the interior has changed...hopefully they can keep the food standards up long term. Waffle was super soft. Steamed almost it seemed. I like a crispy waffle for chicken and waffles and the waffle used to be. Not anymore. The chicken was a little overcooked so it was slightly dry. Now what was still amazing was the buttermilk syrup. They told me they would sell it to me by the bottle. I definitely bought one and brought it back on the flight home lol. Service was hella slow though. Don't come here if you are in a rush.
I have been craving chicken and waffles. I discovered this place and they did not disappoint. I couldn't believe they were gluten free. The service was quick and everyone was so friendly. Definitely want to go back and try other things.
Jewel's Bakery and Cafe offers much needed meals to this underserved food segment. Most places do not take food allergies seriously and it is a gamble if you will be served food that is either crossed contaminated with gluten or totally ignored. What puts this place over the top for me is vegan offerings are available, but most items regular. Service is always excellent at Jewel's! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only wildcard is how busy it will be when you arrive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area maximizes its available space with enough tables without feeling like you're scrunched in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
I'm so glad my boyfriend found this place recommended only. Anytime I can find a gluten free restaurant that offers comfort food that's hard to find, and both gluten and dairy free, I'm over the moon! This was definitely worth the visit. There were so many great options that I had to order 2 meals. The breakfast burrito was the bomb! I haven't had a burrito in over a decade and This did not disappoint- I wish I would've ordered 2. The burrito was packed and was a large. With the brunch potatoes, it was definitely 2 meals. Plenty of cheese with the chorizo, eggs and breakfast potatoes was a great combo. I also had to try the chicken and waffles. It was also very very good! I appreciated the waffle was a great size. It was also thick and soft. The chicken was also crispy and pretty good. I also tried a cinnamon roll and brownie. The brownie was good but small, but the cinnamon roll was a bit dry. It was still good. Overall, I highly recommend Jewel bakery and will come back when I'm in Phoenix.
Fairly disappointed in this latest trip (I generally really enjoy Jewels) I went immediately to the pastry case to get some to go! I highly recommend doing that first; or stepping away after you order to select your goods to go! After that I was seated, the server was very helpful and pleasant. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, a fish sandwich and added onion rings since there was no available upgrade option. I ordered donut holes to go as well. Food was severed fairly quickly and I asked for more tartar as it seemed light in comparison to my preference. I didn't care for the tea and asked for a coke in the bottle; which was quickly brought. Unfortunately, it turned out I don't care for the tartar sauce (it's a dill sauce) nor did I care for the onion ring sauce... I sat for what seemed like quite a long time and finally got up to go ask for my bill... The server caught me and asked if I'd like a box... I replied no, I didn't really even eat it and didn't care for it. He offered to take the onion rings off pointing out I ate half the sandwich. He responded, "Is that good?" I didn't care for the change in attitude at that point but whatever... I was not trying to get free food either. No other solution was offered and I was not going to engage on it. I was charged for the coke and fish sandwich. I literally ate more of my eclair in the box that I got from the counter than the sandwich while I sat there... I was there about an hour...the donut holes never came and I was asked if I still wanted them? No... not now... Just disappointed... I called for a Lyft and left.
Excellent service. Outdoor seating available. I ordered the DF Belgian Waffle and it was amazing! I can't tell it's GF!! Egg white scrambled was perfectly made. Already bookmarked this spot! The lady was extra nice and friendly
Arrived on a warm summer morning at opening. The location was packed at 8 minutes after the hour. We were seated and supported with drinks immediately (requested hot water with lemon). When ready to order, the waiter was nearby, pleasant, and attentive. We ordered waffles (vegan), vegetable omelette, side pancake, and side egg whites (scrambled). The food arrived in a reasonable 10 minutes and was delicious. The wife had come to this location the day prior and indicated that the experience and food were consistent. We loved the experience and will be back every time we come through the Phoenix area.
We were on this side of town so popped over for lunch. Such a cute quaint vibe! The servers are prompt and so friendly! Being GF and our first time here in e ordered several items and came back the next day for more! Everything was absolutely delicious! Belgium waffle, popcorn chicken and donuts, chicken strips, onion rings, fried pickles, fish and chips, burrito. We will come back again soon!
I have been coming here for several years, usually after class at Metta Yoga (an excellent studio, btw). Today I came with my SO, who supports my efforts to be GF as much as possible. In the past I have tried the avocado toast(best I have had), the chicken and waffles, and sundry treats, coffees and teas. Today was the fried chicken sandwich. I am a fan. First, the chicken was crispy crunchy like "real" fried chicken. The slaw was creamy and a nice accompaniment to the sandwich so it wouldn't be dry, and the bun held up to the heft of the sandwich. My SO had I'm Basic, two eggs, potatoes, applewood bacon and a dinner plate- sized pancake. The pancake was slightly sweet, fluffy, yet had some texture without going to the gummy side. He thought it was very good and said he'd come back to try more options. Score!! Service was very good at keeping drinks filled. I appreciate the table side checkout. It was a Sunday late morning and business was brisk. Be prepared to possibly wait, but know the food will be fresh and tasty.
Just had breakfast at Jewels Bakery & Cafe, and it continues to be my go-to spot. As someone with a severe wheat allergy, finding a place that's 100% gluten-free and still delivers on flavor is huge. This place nails it. Everything on the menu is excellent, but I usually order the chicken and waffles. It's that good. And if you ever see the cinnamon rolls available, grab one immediately. They're unreal and usually gone by lunchtime for a reason. What I love most is that you don't have to be gluten-free to enjoy it. The food stands on its own. If you're in the area, I can't recommend it enough

I do think food here is pretty good. But they don't offer any type of waitlist system, or take any reservations. On top of that, they don't have any type of notification system once you put your name down upon arrival. There's no text or a beeper so you have to wait outside (in 100+ degree weather) until your name is called. Any time we come here is a 20-25 mins wait so just be prepared. Also I feel like the quality of food has gone down overtime although there are still few items on the menu I do enjoy, such as the wedge hash brown. But overall, I'm not sure if it's worth the wait.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was bustling when I stopped by! Lots of people waiting, Lots of people eating, and Lots of people just staring at their pastry case, including me haha![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was a little hectic, but the servers were all very nice and took their time to help me with all my questions. I ended up trying their cinnamon roll and special dot cake tres leches. If you're gluten sensitive, their cinnamon roll may be up your alley. It's hard to do GF for this sweet, but if I had the option of a regular one or this one, being gluten okay, I'd still go for the regular one. Dot cake tres leches was delcious, but pricey at $15. Understood it is GF, but even for that and knowing some other GG proce points, I think this would be better priced at $10. I'd come back to try so.e of their other goodies! Maybe some savory food and a cupcake? :) read more

You MUST get the donuts they are like fluffy clouds of joy in your mouth! My cousin was delighted when she realized this is a gluten (and mostly soy) free restaurant. I enjoyed my large chicken sandwich and she was ecstatic with her Cuban. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server was knowledgeable about allergens in the food, and she even brought back a list of items my cousin could not eat safely. Check out the photos to see the extremely generous portion sizes. We also got a brownie and an enormous cookie to go. We'll definitely return to Jewels the next time we're in the Phoenix area. read more

Great brunch experience at Jewels Bakery & Cafe. Excellent service, lots of menu choices and good food. I ordered the Chorizo Hash Bowl served with two eggs. This item was one of three brunch bowls. The menu has many choices if looking for gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and other. Breakfast with coffee was $22 plus tax. About par these days for the area. read more
That's gluten free?! We visited this place during our trip in AZ as me and another in the group are gluten free. Even the others in our group who are not gluten free were shocked that this food was gluten free. This place was AMAZING!! I wish we had one here in KCMO. I'm obsessed with this place. It's SO rare to find a fully gluten free restaurant with options like waffles, chicken tenders, etc. And the food was AMAZING! We got the churro bites (could've cried they were so good.), the chorizo bowl, an iced latte with cold foam, and a chocolate chip waffle. You could NOTTT tell it was gluten free it was SO GOOD! Staff was super nice, the restaurant is small. We got there at 9:10 am on a Saturday (they open at 9) and we sat outside or had to wait 30 minutes- shows how amazing this place is!! 1000/10 would recommend! read more

My whole group loved this place. This isn't just "good for a gluten free option" this is "good as a go-to option" I would love one of these local to KCMO at home. The food was amazing. While it tasted delicious, keep in mind, it still is gluten free so with that comes a more fragile bread. I had a buttermilk chicken sandwich and by the end I was grabbing it straight by the breading. I really enjoyed their barbecue sauce. I have also shared a flight of margaritas with my girlfriend. They were all pretty good and very strong. The service was great and attentive. The atmosphere was quaint and welcoming. If I were local, this would be a place I keep coming back to. read more
Writing another review because I'm obsessed with this place. My dad and I went for brunch and got the same exact thing because it's the best thing on the menu - churro waffles (cinnamon sugar waffle with a caramel drizzle) and fried chicken. The waffles were just as fluffy as always, I didn't need a lot of the maple syrup because of the churro dust but I was in heaven. There is a substantial portion of the fried chicken and it comes out steaming - hot and juicy, ugh so so good. And I loooove the sauce it comes with, just a little kick it's perfect. I saved half (it was hard) for dinner that night but so happy I did because I got to enjoy my meal twice in one day lol. My dad also ordered a side of turkey sausage... it was $4 and one small piece. We would not order that again but he said the sausage he had was tasty nonetheless. We of course got treats to go. I got the eclair because this is so unique - it was tasty!! A lot of filling so I was happy, nice chocolate notes, slightly dry but I had it in the fridge for a day so it was a little expected. My dad got the lemon bar and it wasn't too sweet, not too sour, dense but didn't weigh you down. More refreshing and satisfies your needs with a few bites. The two treats were expensive, over $20 - we definitely ordered the more expensive ones but just beware of the costs. Service was great per usual. Will obviously come back again. This place has great reviews on Yelp (well deserved). I had to try it before my flight out of PHX. I arrived at 11:20 am and the place was packed! I was lucky to get a small table in the center of the room. It was busy but only took a few minutes to place my order - famous chicken and waffles with a side of fried eggs. It took about 30 minutes to get my order (very busy) and I was starting to get nervous because my flight was boarding in about 2 hours. (Glad it's about 15 minutes from the airport). It was worth the extra wait. The waffles were fluffy and delicious. The chicken strips were cooked perfectly! Wow! I should have tried them when I first arrived so I could experience it more than once. And everything is gluten free! Best gluten free waffles l have had! Next time I'm in the area I'll make sure I don't have any time restraints when I visit. If you're in Phoenix and have not tried Jewel's, you are missing out! read more

Today was our first time going here. It was random and exceeded our expectations. For those with gluten sensitivities, They are truly a gluten free establishment!! We tried a margarita flight, the cauliflower wings, churro chicken & waffles & the Philly with truffle fries. Everything was amazing! 10/10. And though I'm not gluten sensitive ,my lady is. I also noticed everything felt light going down & i wasn't bloated after. On the way out, we ordered an Oreo cupcake 8.5/10, dairy free peach cobbler 9/10 & a strawberry cheesecake 8/10. They also sell gluten free flours, jams t-shirts & other goodiesI Its a nice low key spot. can't wait to come back! Everything looked soo good! read more
Do you miss that cozy, intimate little breakfast place you remember from years ago and far away? Well Jewel's Bakery and Cafe will fill that void. It's compact, unpretentious and friendly, yet has an impressive offering on its menu. Also, many gluten free items. I had the Lite Omelette which had egg whites, Turkey sausage, havarti and feta cheeses, spinach and tomato, with a subtle jalapeño aioli. So full of flavor and moist. I actually ate the leftovers the next day and they were still delicious. My husband aptly had I'm Basic. A fluffy pancake with their silky Mom's buttermilk syrup, eggs, bacon, potatoes. Wow! No leftovers on his side. The service is efficient, friendly and attentive. Try it, you'll like it! read more

I can't believe I li we in the valley for eleven years and never knew that this place was gluten free! I will be back on future visits to Phoenix. We had chicken and waffles, and also decided to try the onion rings. The waffles were tender and light, unlike most gf waffles (if you can find them anywhere!) the chicken was crispy and crunchy, hot inside and juicy. The hot honey, Mom's buttermilk syrup amd the chipotle aioli were wonderful compliments to their dishes!! The onion rings were a tasty treat, but they did lose rigidity after just a moment at the table and became floppy. I wanted to try all the popular appetizers that I usually can't order anywhere else such as the fried pickles and cheese curds. My mom approved of the coffee, served in a generous mug. Service was quick, friendly and attentive on our visit. Pretty excited to have this as an option on future visits to the valley. read more

If you're gluten-free and miss real comfort food, Jewel's Bakery & Café is a must. Everything on the menu is 100% gluten-free, so no need to second guess anything--just order and enjoy. Pro tip: Start with the donut holes. Trust me. Then get one pancake--not the waffle, then go for whatever main dish you want. I had the country fried chicken with the smothered buttermilk biscuit--crispy, savory, and legit delicious. Hard to believe it's all gluten-free. Skip the usual safe picks. This place delivers the stuff we usually have to avoid. You're welcome. read more

Does Jewels take reservations?
No but it is worth going and putting your name in. The food is worth the the wait. Amazing place for anyone - not just gluten free people.
Dairy , gluten, egg, and bean free here (i know, weird.) i saw pretty great accommodations for dairy/egg free but i realize that they most likely use just egg (egg substitute containing beans) for dredging. is the egg substitute used for that?
