Delicious food and kind service. This place looks a lil janky on the outside but I wanted to try it cause I've been looking for a place that has good fried fish and shrimp. It has a drive thru but don't mistake that for fast service like I did. The drive thru menu doesn't show prices and you have to call someone to place an order. The intercom doesn't work. So I called and ordered the wings and shrimp plate and added one piece of whiting. I pull up to the drive through and they ask me to park because it'll take about 20 minutes. Everything is cooked fresh to order. So when I got my food it was hot, straight out the grease which is really how fried seafood should be served. I got the lemon pepper sprinkle but honestly it wasn't needed, it was good though. Everything on my plate was well seasoned, fried perfectly, and delicious. JG is a hidden gem in the Austell, Marietta, Mableton area! The chicken here is some of the best in Atlanta and definitely gives some of the long legendary spots a run for their money! We eat here at least 1x a week and it never disappoints. It's a hole in the wall spot, but you can always expect fresh food and good service! I always do takeout because of COVID, so I can't say how the service will be eating in once things are normal, but I always enjoy the food! My go to special is the 10 piece whole wings that is served with fries and cole slaw. Their fried fish is always good too! Stopped in today when I noticed the big Grand Opening banner. First off - the good: Prices are good. I ordered the pick any two combo - with 3 pieces of whiting and one piece of flounder. It comes with coleslaw and bread (which I declined) but the total cost was right at $12. The cashier was also super polite, friendly and helpful. There is no bad or ugly but sadly, I can't make this a regular spot. Others will love them - hence my 4 star review - but: 1) I hate these kind of battered fries and 2) I don't really care for cornmeal breading. But these are personal preference - so no stars deducted. I deducted a star because: a) while attempting to eat my whiting - I encountered several bones. b) I wanted to sample a little bit of everything - so I added a chicken tender appetizer. The tenders are not hand-breaded. They are the flash frozen kind you get in high-school cafeterias or Walmart deli. I didn't ask beforehand, but I definitely thought that a restaurant with 'chicken' in their name would be offering a premium chicken tender. c) And also because even though they don't tell you this - they put lemon pepper seasoning on EVERYTHING. The fries, fish, EVERYTHING. Thankfully, the sweet friendly cashier told me when I asked if they had seasoned salt on the fries. She said the lemon pepper is their signature seasoning and they put it on everything. Well - I strongly recommend they let people know this upfront - verbally, on the menu, on the website - everywhere - cuz not everyone loves lemon pepper. This is the second time in two weeks I've ordered from this establishment. The food is hot, cooked to perfection and very tasty. We had the jumbo shrimp dinner and three piece chicken tender meal. Both with slaw and fries plus a side of hush puppies. Disappointed in the shrimp, had an odd flavor. They use a commercial tartar sauce and it's is also disappointing. Highly recommend they get a good tartar sauce recipe and make it in house. The chicken tenders were large and flavorful. We would order them again. The fries are OK and they provided good portions. The coleslaw is good and helps cut through all the fried flavors. Wish the portion size was a little larger on the slaw. They were also out of okra which they failed to mention luckily I checked the bag before we got down the road. So then I had to reach out to chownow to get a refund because we were told they don't do refunds only the 3rd party app we used could issue the refund. Just a bigger headache than needed. So IF you go just order there. Now the food was very Mediocre. Not good but also not bad. The seasoning on top is like the seasoning you get at JJ's, except here it taste like nothing. Merely for decoration. Chicken wings fried a little too hard making it dry. Chicken tenders also fried too long and just weren't good. Meal was supposed to come with slaw, there was none. My boyfriend also got the fried Mac and cheese bites, which he didn't finish and he ALWAYS finishes his food lol. He said it tasted like an American cheese slice that was fried.Lemonade was super sour. If your looking for satisfaction you most likely wont get it. I have ordered from here many times with no issues with food quality. Today I ordered through uber eats and received wings that were burnt and had been cooked in old grease. The okra breading was soggy and coming off of several pieces. I asked for it to be remade and was told no because i ordered through uber eats. That is terrible customer service.
