I'm from Chicago, lived in Los Angeles, and have traveled to Peru, and this place far exceeded my expectations. I certainly didn't expect to see Peruvian cuisine as an option for dinner in Ketchum, Idaho, much less expect it to be good. But it was actually spectacular. We ordered to go but the service was great. The inside seemed really warm and nice, so I'd consider eating in next time I come back! Foodwise: -Lomo saltado was spot on.. So tasty!! -Peruvian fried rice (seafood) was extremely flavorful, rice was delicious, and I'm still thinking about it today... -Grilled artichoke appetizer was unique and like nothing I've ever had before. read more

So glad we decided to go to Jhony's! The staff was so accommodating and the service was excellent. Very cute restaurant. Grilled artichoke with a delicious sauce was off the chart. The charring seemed to really allow that wonderful artichoke flavor to come through. I loved the beets in the beet salad. Meaty and sweet they really worked well with the Gorgonzola crumbles and the mixed greens. The rotisserie chicken was moist and very tasty. The two sauces served alongside were unique and quite tasty. A very nice alternative to the usual dining choices in Ketchum and Sun Valley! read more

My wife, 17 y.o. daughter & I had dinner here this week & we all thoroughly enjoyed it! The service was top notch - super friendly, readily offering recommendations as we asked - and the food was simply delicious. My wife is heading to Peru in a week and I wanted to surprise her with some good Peruvian food before she left... boy, did Jhony's deliver. Yuca fries, Caprese Salad, Rotisserie Chicken, Peruvian Rice with Chicken & Peruvian Rice with Beef... everything was great and very reasonable. If there was a choice to go below one star, I'd select it. Worst place I've been to in SV. I took some clients here after some biking, we were all starving. 2 hours after ordering, we got our food. Apps took almost 45 mins. Food was cold and 3/7 orders were not good, at all. They had ONE server for the entire restaurant, who was also the bartender. He may have been one of, if not the only, cook. We ended up having to get our own refills on drinks (water), because we could do it faster than our server could. To his credit, he was a very hard worker but management completely left him hanging out to dry. I'll never go back. read more

Enjoyed the dinning experience. Warm and cheerful yet quiet waitress, beautiful small indoor sitting with snow white table cloth, sparking wine and water glasses all come together for an upper scale cozy environment. The wine recommendation was perfect for the steak I ordered. Eggs on steak was a hit. Melting egg yolk made the sensational combination with medium rare steak. Yuca fries were special and quite pleasant. Kids meal - chicken breast - was pure white meat, water porched. Together with salad, it was a win for my daughter. Dinner with friends after skiing was VERY good at Jhony's last evening. I would give it 4.5 stars if that were an option. My Argentinian white wine was just right with my quinoa salad and shredded chicken in a mild yellow pepper sauce with potato and rice. My friends had the flatiron steak with red peppers and mushrooms and declared it excellent. We all decided to defy our diets and have dessert, which was also very good. The restaurant is cosy, with fresh flowers and quiet, with just enough music playing to be pleasant without compromising conversation. Our server was attentive and very nice as well. The food here is so amazingly authentic! Everything we ordered tasted so amazingly fresh, authentic, and good! We ordered a couple chicken tamales and the fish (snapper) ceviche for appetizers- both perfect. The ceviches sauce/ marinade was so good we were spooning up the remainder. We asked the ceviche to be 5/10 level of spice and they made it to be exactly 5 out of ten on spice level. The tamales had a great sauce on the side- not over baring, all great flavors and (again) very authentic. We also had the Caprese, the mozzarella was great quality- balsamic reduction on side with fresh firm tomatoes and basil. One of my dinner party got the half roasted chicken with roasted veggies instead of starch- it came with asparagus, mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, and peppers that came lightly grilled- the chicken was juicy- with a cilantro lime oil sauce on the side and a chipotle sauce on the side as well. Two of the others got the seafood soup which was calamari, mussels, shrimp, and fresh snapper in a red pepper lime spiced soup broth. It came with a choice of rice or yuka (a type of starch). I had the steak and got a side of rice- it came with mushrooms, onion, grilled tomatoes, and a brown sauce that was fantastic. Side of great sweet potato fries. We paired everything with an Argentinian Malbec bottle. (100% organic) The servers were absolutely delightful; both had great menu knowledge and our waters never were low. Very pleased! Thank you Yelp for alerting us to JC's Peruvian Cuisine, having earned some very good reviews here. The number of very good dinner establishments in the Sun Valley area has been shrinking in recent years and JC's is a welcome addition. And Peruvian food would not have otherwise attracted us. We were not disappointed. First be warned, the layout of the restaurant can be confusing as there are two restaurants in the same building. Directly across from Leftys is a deck with tables. The door in the center of the building behind the deck leads to a restaurant, but this is not JC's, it is the entry to Rominnas restaurant. The entry to JC's is the door on the far left. The tables on the deck however are JC's and make for a lovely al fresco dining as the elevated deck is tucked away on a relatively quiet street in West Ketchum. Our appetizers were both outstanding. The grilled artichoke was smoky and flavorful, and easily consumed as prepared and presented. The cerviche was yellow snapper, fresh and tasty. This dish can come with heat and you are asked to calibrate your preference on a one to ten scale - mild to hot. This always creates a dilemma at a new restaurant, not knowing how hot a ten is. Overhearing a neighboring table complain that their dish was too spicy, I changed my request from a four to a two. At two the heat was very faint. I will try a 4-5 next time. And there will be a next time. Rotisserie chicken is the signature dish here. This is not your Costco/Safeway chicken. It is perfectly seasoned, and the seasoning penetrates the meat throughout. Mine was perfectly done, moist and tender. You can choose either white or dark meat. I opted for a 1/2 chicken (1/4 portion is always offered) with both white and dark. And although I generally favor white, as prepared and seasoned the dark meat was the better of the two. Another dish wotth considering are the mussels, as a fellow diner described it as one of the best mussel dishes he had ever had. read more

My guest and I both got the roasted chicken with veggies and we started with the ceviche. I live at the beach in California and their ceviche was some of the best I have had. The chicken was roasted to perfection with an impeccable mix of spices. I wish I could eat here more often. The interior ambiance is a bit dull, but the deck was quite nice. The service was great. This place is a hidden gem. We recently visited the Sun Valley area and spent hours trying to decide where to eat. We were so happy that we stumbled up Jhony's. Every bite was delicious. The halibut special was delicious! Tender flaky boneless fish topped with crunchy breadcrumbs... peruvian potato underneath, and under that a bed of wilted spinach and sautéed snow peas. Our waitress was polite and so friendly. Soccer game on the flat screen and jazz on the radio - perfect! How do they make a chicken taste so good?! (Dark chicken meat doesn't appeal to me but I was actually tempted to eat it on my 1/2 chicken dinner. I'm not embarrassed to admit that instead, I picked the bones dry on the breast part.) An even more pressing question - how do they make a simple green salad taste so amazing? Attentive and friendly service, the ceviche was amazing - big chunks of fresh snapper, but Jonny said he uses whatever is most fresh - and not for the faint of citrus, he hand squeezes all the juice. I had the quarter chicken as my entree and it was juicy, crispy, and everything but the heart of the bones was soft and perfect. If you've never tried eating the cartilage at the end of a drumstick, try it here. You may even wind up eating some of the marrow...the chicken is just that perfectly cooked and tasty. read more

We had always ignored this place, but our visiting son had recently traveled to Peru and suggested we try it. Wow. What a gem. The ceviche was incredible, which was unexpected in a mountain restaurant far from the sea. They are happy to make alterations for food allergies. Delicious chicken, and the standout dish is the fish soup. Once there was less seafood in the bowl than other times. When this happened to me , I mentioned it to the server who immediately whisked the bowl away and it returned brimming with seafood. The flavors are sublime, and distinctively Peruvian (according to our son). We look forward to many more meals here! read more

I cannot say enough good things about J.C's Peruvian Cuisine. Service - The staff was friendly, enthusiastic and informative. We met Jhony who was gracious and lovely... We were taken care of and the recommendations were perfect. Food - You begin the meal with some fried yuca root with a unique Peruvian "fry sauce." Can't go wrong with that! We ordered the ceviche. It was flavorful, fresh and unlike any other ceviche I've ever tried. Perfect, unique and carefully presented... And the portion size was incredible for the price. The Gorgonzola Beet Salad and Caprese salad tasted fresh, without relying on preservative-packed dressings to bring the flavor home. Simply lovely. Finally, I ordered the Lomo Salado (beef), while Andrew ordered the 1/4 rotisserie chicken. Both were excellent. I must say, the spicy, zesty sauces served with the entrees were incredible - but the entrees absolutely stood on their own without the sauces... Just icing on the cake. Authentic Peruvian food that was deliciously prepared and very nicely presented. Jhony, the chef, graciously came out to speak with us twice during our meal. We enjoyed sharing our culinary experiences in Peru with him! And, it was fun being served by Seve, who has deep roots in the Basque country of Northern Spain. He easily conversed in Spanish & English with us and did a great job taking care of us as soon as we stepped into the restaurant even though we didn't have reservations. Their wine list was nice! We drank a Decoy cab for $32 which is the retail price - good deal! Now for the food...we shared the ceviche which was excellent (we asked for a "7 out of 10" heat level and it was perfect). Loved the quinoa salad which was also perfect to share. I had the lomo saltado which was tender & savory and my husband had "aji pollo", nicely spiced chicken.
