Honest review here! My experience at this Jiffy Lube on California Avenue exceeded my expectations by far. I needed help with an oil change and oil filter replacement, and their team stepped in professionally and without unnecessary pressure. When I first called them this morning, Mark (who later said he is the Assistant Manager) took my call. He was very helpful and transparent on the phone. He listened carefully without trying to upsell anything with an attitude that showed he genuinly wanted to help. It was obvious to me that helping was his priority. So, I went there. As I was parking my car, Mike (the Manager) immediately came out to my car in the parking log and assisted me upon arrival. I thought they were treating me like royalty! He clearly wanted to make sure everything was going to be handled efficiently. Peter (the man who worked on my car) completed the service very competently. In the end, another representative (Martin) came to the lobby and thoroughly answered my questions and seemed very knowledgeable. I specifically asked him to review my brake pads, explain the brake service timing, and confirm whether or not my tires were wearing evenly. He did all this and gave me detailed responses about every concern, without pushing any add-ons or rushing me. I want you to know this team provides the best service with integrity and clear communication. Unlike other mechanic shops who are on a mission to ultimately charge you more and more and more, these guys are on a mission to put their customers' needs and requirements first. If you ask me, this is the smartest way to build customer loyalty and retention. Hands down, I genuinely and highly recommend them for oil changes, brake service, and honest automotive care that you can count on and come back to again and again. Don't hesitate! read more

Mark and the team here on Sunday is the reason why I'll be a jiffy lube customer the rest of my life. Mark came in and diagnosed my vehicle as to why my engine was smoking. The cable wrapping above my alternator had come loose and was melting against the alternator. The guys still tested my battery voltage and taped the wires and secured the harness so that issue wouldn't happen again. Cheers to these guys. It's been a while since I last visited Jiffy Lube--back in 2017 when I had my Toyota Camry. Recently, I dropped off my GMC for a quick service since my dealership warranty has expired. I've never had any issues with them in over 10 years, and I'm glad to say that the service remains excellent. The customer service skills are just as impressive as I remember, which is a testament to their consistency and dedication. The only thing I would suggest is that they could use some upgrades in the waiting room to enhance the overall experience. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my visit! read more

A couple of weeks ago, I was traveling for business from LA to Yosemite. Made a quick stop in Bakersfield. As I was driving into the gas station, my right side went over the curb. Not the first time and nothing's ever happened. When I got back in my car, something was clearly dragging underneath my car. After a couple of blocks , i parked and looked to see what it was. A large panel was hanging there. Shoot. I have to be there by 4:30p. I had about one hour to spare. I got back on California Ave - I had to find a car repair place, quick. As I turned the corner I saw Jiffy Lube. The Jiffy Lube near my home has always been fair and very helpful, beyond oil changes. I drove up and was greeted by the friendliest crew. One of guys looked underneath and said that they could fix it. They would either take off the panel or screw it back on. 15 mins later - done! "How much?" No charge." Why was I going up to Yosemite? To do a workshop on Giving awesome service and a great experience to customers and guests - something these gentlemen did oh so well! So here's a shout out to Angel, David, and Delmos! I had to call out of work on a Sunday because my car had a weird noise. I thought it was my serpentine belt. Valvoline led me astray after they said they couldn't help me. I was riding around all of Bakersfield looking to get my serpentine replaced when Mike from California street noticed it was my alternator. Back track, after feverishly looking around I called this location and Mike answered he answered my question swiftly and gave me a quote, which was significantly less than Firestone. I zoomed there and he somehow knew who I was when I pulled up he said, "are you the one that called?", and that made me very happy and surprised, but it was a very good thing that I was acknowledged even though they had a lot of customers. I had one guy come in and routinely ask me what I needed and I said hey I spoke with Mike and I need a serpentine belt replacement. I had Mike come over and look under my hood and he said, "your serpentine belt is fine. You need an alternator replacement actually." Fast forward, he hooked it up!!!! He started the process even though I was still trying to figure out how I was going to pay for the situation and he got it done within the time that he said it was gonna be done and he was so awesome and it was very hot this day and I just want to make an honorable mention of him that he is appreciated... He was not dismissive or rude, or impatient with me in the situation, and that makes me so grateful because I had no idea that I was looking to get the wrong thing repaired, and he automatically knew as soon as I popped the hood so I'm forever grateful and in debt to Mike and he was so kind and so patient and so graceful with me that is what a girl needs when she's going to get her car fixed on, but has no idea what's going on and Mike is the epitome of who you would want to help service you in that time of need, especially when you have no idea what's going on. my sister witnessed how great the customer service was and the service was and is now going to take her car there for her repairs and I even told other friends and family what happened because it's just so phenomenal on how the customer service was on point, the patience, and the grace and how this was taken care of in such a timely manner. Today is 6/20/22. Took my vehicle in for an oil change at this location. Be aware that if you try to use the $10.00 off coupon from "YELP" , they WILL NOT accept it. Use the coupon directly from their website (jiffylube.com). However on their own invoice the request feed back on "YELP". GO FIGURE!!! The person behind the counter to check me out picked up the wrong invoice and said the oil they put was synthetic. I told him I DID NOT request synthetic but did request the conventional oil. I told him that the person whom took my information had told me about the types of oil offered and I selected the conventional oil and DID NOT change my selection. I also told him that they could pull it back into the oil change bay, drain out the synthetic oil and then put in the 5 quarts of the conventional oil. It was then that he stated that he picked up the wrong invoice and that I did select conventional oil. The person behind the counter did apologize to me for picking up the wrong invoice. The person who did the oil change went over their inspection report. They stated that one of the items that needed attention was the engine air filter. It was never shown to me so that I could make an informed decision. Secondly, they try and sell you their filter at over inflated prices. I refused this and said that I could do that on my own for half of what they wanted to charge and that I could get the filter at a local auto parts store. Prior to me paying for the oil change, the person behind the counter gave me the $10 discount that they would not allow from "YELP". I truly believe this was why I received the $10 discount because of the invoice problems. Don't waste your money on ancillary services from them and take your vehicle to your mechanic or do the work yourself if you can! Two star rating for their screw-up and arguing with me about the service I selected. read more

I pulled up to bay and before I could turn the engine off I was being greeted by an employee who offered me a price sheet. She asked me to turn off the engine and leave the key in the ignition. She walked me inside and offered me a cup of coffee and a seat with a view of the television. There was a small flatscreen suspended on the wall showing a college basketball game. The same employee came over to where we were sitting to have us sign papers; it was nice not to have to get up and stand at the window to complete the paperwork. They have two main Oil Change packages; the basic one for $24.95 and an extended service one for $39 where they check and top off all the fluids. I opted for the more extensive one since it's been a while since my last service and I drive the hell out of my poor little car with constant road trips over the Grapevine and up to San Francisco. Unfortunately for me, after 20 minutes of waiting they checked my car and told me whoever did the previous service (the local VW dealership) had over tightened the plug and they were unable to service the vehicle for liability reasons. They apologized and said that I needed to take it somewhere that could rethread the plug and sent me on my way no charge. All the employees were very friendly and apologetic that they were unable to service the vehicle. I applaud them for not trying to service it themselves if they knew it was beyond their capabilities, but subtracted two stars because the place I ended up getting it serviced told me that VW recommends synthetic oil on my car (I Googled it and they were correct); had Jiffy Lube gone through with the service they contracted for I would have had the wrong oil in it. It's possible that a person with normal driving habits could have gotten away with regular oil, but the way I drive my poor little car into the ground I have to be conservative and stick with manufacturer recommendations. Oh, and the oil plug was fine, it was just sticking a bit. Five stars for excellent customer service, 1 star for almost putting the wrong oil in my car, 3 stars for being honest about their ability to perform the service on my vehicle. If you're driving a standard vehicle, they'll do a great job servicing it. If you've got something nonstandard... well, I guess there was a reason I was having the dealer service it. read more

However after the oil change they told me they don't carry the Freon for my year of Chevy. They said they don't carry it at any jiffy lube. I said you knew what year it it was when I checked in. Called in for tune up, guy on the phone said they do tune ups and it would cost approximately 200$ for my car. Brought in my car and turns out tune up to them simply means changing the spark plugs. Ask them to check my brakes because I heard scraping and they told me that my brakes are just dirty. The scraping didn't go away and instead got worse, so I ask my BIL to check them and it turns out my rear breaks were completely gone and it began to scrape the rotors. Turns out the the workers at this location never checked my brakes bc in order to check them you have open the rotor in order gain access to the brakes. If the workers had actually taken the time to check, they would have realized immediately that I no longer had brakes. Never coming back here. read more

On December 10th, 2019, I took my vehicle to Jiffy Lube on the corner of California and Oak in Bakersfield, California around lunch time. When I arrived I expressed to the technician that I would not be able to wait while the oil change was completed, and would be back to pick my vehicle up at 4:30. I ran to grab some lunch to take back to work and drove past the Jiffy Lube and noticed my vehicle was parked out front in the lot facing California Avenue with the hood up. I was curious as to why my hood was open, but didn't think much of it. When I arrived to pick my vehicle up at 4:30, my vehicle was still parked in the same spot with the hood still up. I asked the technician that helped me check out why my hood has been open for 4+ hours, and he said that it was their policy to leave the hood open so that they can verify their work to the customer. I asked him why they couldn't close the hood and re-open when I arrived to pick up my vehicle, and all he said was that it was their policy. Not wanting to cause any issues, I let that go. We went to my vehicle and he showed me my dipstick and explained the services performed. At that point, he told me goodbye and I asked him where my keys were. He said "Oh, they should be in there." It was at this point that I realized that the technicians had left the doors to my vehicle unlocked and the keys in the ignition on this heavily trafficked and highly vagrant area for 4+ hours. I immediately wrote a complaint on the Jiffy Lube website, and was contacted by their corporate office and told that the Franchisee would have to reach out to me to address the complaint. It took the franchisee over a week to reach me, after multiple prodding by Jiffy Lube corporate. When I finally was able to speak to the manager and explain what happened and explained my concern, he said "Well did anything get stolen?" I told him that that isn't the point. The point is that they are completely negligent to allow these types of procedures to occur. He said "The homeless know not to come on our property and mess with our vehicles, and someone keeps an eye on the vehicles at all times." I explained that I don't believe that's true, and even if it were, it only takes two seconds for someone to realize that there is an unlocked vehicle with the keys in the ignition, and steal it. At this point, the manager said "Well, if your car were stolen, Jiffy Lube would file a claim and we would take care of it." I told him that that doesn't make me feel any better, because I would still have to deal with having a stolen vehicle. I told him all I wanted was an explanation as to how this is allowed to occur and become a normal business practice. All the manager could tell me what that they've been doing this for years and nothing has ever happened. I told him that it's only a matter of time with the crime around this area rising and their complete negligence. I asked him if I could speak to someone else because clearly we weren't getting anywhere in this conversation and he said "What exactly are you wanting someone to do?" I told him at this point I wanted a full refund for what I paid because with this type of negligence allowed to happen, I can't be confident that they performed the services he charged me for. The manager told me "We did and we have video to prove it if you need to see it." I finally reached the end of my rope and told the manager that I did not feel like he was at all addressing my concerns and his complete lack of understanding of the situation wasn't going to get us anywhere. I advised him that I would be contacting Jiffy Lube corporate and leaving any and all reviews on his company that I could. I am completely dismayed at the procedural issues I came across dealing with this Jiffy Lube, and the complete lack of care or concern from the manager. I will not ever visit Jiffy Lube ever again, and will make sure to voice my complaints to anyone that is ever considering visiting this Jiffy Lube. read more

I have a new car and was asking him what type of oil he recommended and I proceeded to ask him what he recommended as far as filters ect. He told me it was my car to do what ever I wanted. I haven't been to a Jiffy Lube in a quite awhile because they (not this location) screwed up my car twice--once by using the wrong oil, and a second time by using the wrong transmission fluid (I have a Hybrid so it takes specific types). I only came here because my oil was in need of changing and I was on vacation and didn't want things to go bad on the return trip home. I came in at 8:15 on a Friday and was out in 20 minutes. The supervisor couldn't have been kinder - he even showed me the various parts completed and tightened back correctly. Lucky for me it was a customer appreciation day and everything was 50% off. I gave them a second chance this time around, but I will not give a third. Last time I was here, I waited over an hour for a simple oil change. There were 5 employees and 2 customers that time and they were playing instead of working. This time they were busy and the guy (Nelson) told me it would be 15 mins until they could start on it. I told him no problem because I'm dropping it off and will be back in 2 hours to pick it up. It is a company owned fleet vehicle, so it needed an oil change and tire rotation. I showed him the service chart from the glove box. Nelson says, "no problem, we'll be done with it well before 2 hours." When I get dropped off to pick it up, I notice my car is parked unlocked and with the windows down. Not only that, it's parked up against Calofornia Ave which has heavy pedestrian traffic during lunch hour with Taco Bell being right next door. I ask why the windows were down and my car left unlocked and one of the employees said, "Oh, we were watching it." No one working there was in a place where they could keep an eye out on my unlocked car while they're supposed to be working on other cars. They were all inside the bay working and/or acting like they were working on other vehicles. I didn't have time to argue or issue a complaint with management, so I go to the counter and the girl starts to check me out. She tells me all they did was change the oil. I ask about the tire rotation. After she finally comes back from checking with Nelson she tells me they didn't rotate the tires. This is 2 hours and 15 minutes after I dropped the car off and only 2 vehicles in the bays when I came to pick it up. They told me it would take 5 minutes to have them rotate the tires. They charged me $24.95 and I had to wait another 20 minutes. I won't be back to this place and I hope I save others time and $$. read more

There was a worker talked to a customer in another room but quickly left to go back outside after smiling at me. I actually went up to a worker and asked if I could get my oil changed and he pointed to another man. I guess that was his way for directing me. We were on a road trip, family and bags all packed up, from the Bay Area. We noticed a spot of oil on the ground the morning before, but didn't worry--it's a new car and the oil was recently changed. When we stopped in Bakersfield for gas, remembered to check the oil, which was empty! Went into Jiffy Lube here. They got us right in, found that the idiots who had changed my oil at home (a different company that I'll never use again) had left out screws and bolts and oil was just steadily dripping out. These guys fixed the leap and filled my oil and DID IT FOR FREE. They were so kind and fast and they saved my engine. Fan for life!!! read more

They open my doors, walk me inside, offer my coffee, not too pushy on their upselling, walk me to my car, show me the dip stick level after the oil change, overrall, very satisfied! It honestly would've been a perfect 5 star... but... I took me 2012 Honda Civic here on this last oil change. A rep told me they highly recommend I purchase a cabin air filter. They said it would cost about $39. I expected this, because they mentioned how dirty mine was on my last oil change with them. I told the rep how dirty is it? then the rep tell me "Oh, you dont have one, its missing. Its not there. You're supposed to have one..." Ummm... wow? I don't touch anything on my car. I went to this location on my last oil change and they told me my cabin air filter was dirty and I should replace it, and even showed it to me. Now its missing, not even there? The last rep who pulled it out must've forgotten to put it back in... I hope accidentally and not maliciously. My mind was racing on how I should address this issue, and staying calm. I just told myself to forget about it, this would be a battle I could not win. I could never prove that they accidentally took my cabin air filter. Normally, I would've purchased the cabin air filter from them, but I don't want them to reap from their mistakes. I will get the service done elsewhere. Honestly, they do have great customer service though. Im not a high maintenance customer, but I do enjoy how they treat customers. Its just a 15 minute oil change place, but all this door opening, giving coffee, and walking to car thing makes me feel like I walked into a Ritz Carlton. This jiffy lube location was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Ken and the help of Michael really saved me while on my way north from Vegas. If it weren't for them I wouldn't have been able to get to my destination. They helped find and stop an engine oil leak and transmission fluid leak and replaced the fluids FREE of charge!
