Been using this location (Barrington) for about 10 years. Pulled in today looking to get the tires rotated and an oil change. The mechanic (new guy) said they don't have an impact wrench available. Okay so I pulled in to get the oil level looked at. They got points for being honest and telling me the oil levels were good and I could go another 1000 miles before getting it changed. Everything that came out of his mouth was well practiced schtick. He told me the previous team were incorrectly labeling when the next oil change was needed (they were writing 3000 miles instead of 6000 with synthetic). Good job but good Lord it was like getting pulled over by the State Police, I even joked I feel like you guys are going to ask me to do a Field Sobriety Test. They need to lighten up and not be so defensive about everything. I'd go back but get an impact wrench for Petes sake. read more

Needed to bring my company car in for service since the Wrench symbol appeared. Down to 15%!!! Following safety precautions which meant I stayed with my vehicle, which I do anyway. Previous to this visit, we we're experiencing another polar vortex like weather in the Chicagoland area. Stopped by & asked kindly if they could fill up my tires, since they were at 24 psi. Took care of it without question. Kyle P. (Upper Bay & Front man) & Steven D. ( Lower Bay). Very professional, courteous & approachable. Went with the higher premium synthetic & topped off my coolant for a nominal charge. Looking forward to returning to this location for all my oil change requirements. Kyle& Steven should get a raise for representing JiffyLube in a positive light. Been coming to this location since 2003. I live in north Hoffman Estates and had some errands to run in Barrington today so I thought this Jiffy Lube would be a convenient option. First off, the price they charge for Synthetic Blend is $40 more than the place I usually go to. (I should have known they were a ripoff since they don't have the prices posted on their local Jiffy Lube website. On their local website it says that included in their Signature Service Oil Change that they will top off fluids. Well the technician did try to upsale me on coolant which I refused since I can do that myself, but they did not top off my washer fluid. Their website also says that they vacuum your interior and clean you windows. They did none of that and did not even offer. I've also never been to a place for an oil change where they do not check your tire pressure. I'll definitely never be going back, and I encourage everyone to get your oil changed at a different facility. read more

Not really an avid reviewer but when service deserves to be recognized, I'm going to say something. I pulled up today right as they were closing up and I almost drove away but one of the guys came out and said they could still take me. They did a standard oil service and Steven walked me through the recommendations but honestly, all three of the guys working were very nice and all said 'have a good night' (not in unison but separately) as I was walking to get in my car. I definitely recommend this location if you happen to be in Barrington. read more

Don't take your car here. When I came to pick up the guy checking me out was griping about his job then goes ya we noticed some body damage... what? This car has 30k on it and is in great shape had none going in. You could tell he was high on pills. I asked where and he said could be anywhere man I don't remember. How can you say you noticed body damage then don't remember?? I did notice a new scratch on the back so that is wonderful. I've been to a lot of Jiffy Lubes and this one is the best. Steven was very polite and helpful. As a woman, very often I get spoken to in a condescending way in situations with my vehicle. Not here. Worst customer service!!! Have taken car to this location in the past with no problems, but today was different. Had my fuel filter replaced for preventative maintenance. Once completed, I pulled out of the parking lot and my car died immediately. Went back in to ask for help, but was told they were too busy and there was nothing they could do to help. They said it was my problem and to take my car to Midas where they would know more. WTF?? When I mentioned I would have been better off not getting my fuel filter replaced, the idiot mechanic agreed. Now I have to pay to have my car towed and have someone diagnose what Jiffy Lube screwed up. Additionally, when I arrived at Jiffy Lube there was a lady complaining about an oil leak that supposedly was caused from another incompetent mechanic at the same location. Honestly??? Nothing jiffy or quality about this place!! Will never be back. Was here 3 months ago and thought I may have just caught them on a bad day. Turns out it was a better day than today! Expensive, slow and a bit rude. Am still waiting 30 minutes into my "10 minute wait" to even get started though they did bring my car inside and jack the hood to try to make sure I couldn't leave. 5 more minutes and I'm outta here. read more

Wow, all I can say is bad. Showed up as 1 of 2 cars, told me 25 minutes to be done, over an hour later, I was finally able to get out in a Jiffy! Car bonnet was covered in greasy oil hand prints when I got home, those cleaned up in a Jiffy, something I'm so glad I paid someone else to do! Now, my check engine light has coincidentally come on, so that means a Jiffy trip to the dealer, and when I went to look at my engine the clearcoast is pealing where the oil fingerprints were! Yippee, can u say not coming back here and telling everyone I know to avoid this place! read more

Very disappointed to report that after 10 years of having our vehicles serviced at The Barrington Jiffy Lube at Rt.14 and Main St I was refused service because I brought my Lab into the waiting room. I bring all my cars here as it's not usually crowded but the last 3 or 4 visits (I have multiple cars) they have been short staffed, they need a minimum of 3 people and probably 5 to service 2 bays. They only have 2. So when I arrive it's at least a half hour before they can even pull my car in with only 1 in the bay and 1 in front of me. The employees are very nice and not upsell pushy which I like, but common man get some Darn help! read more

Horrible service and wait time! Old looking man who smacks his lips while every other word comes out of his mouth and very aggressive and rude!!! He was trying to sell me upgraded fully synthetic oil for my car without giving me a price which by the way my car does not take!Wtf, then tried telling me I needed a coolant flush cause it's winter? I had an oil change on my 2001 Cadillac on 12/01/09. They tried to sell me other things. I asked them just to do an oil change and top off the fluids for now. Five days later my transmission starts slipping and I smell a burning smell. This morning I see red trans fluid in my driveway! I suspect something they did or didn't do may have caused this. Waiting for the transmission shop to open now!. It doesn't stop there. Because this problem took a few days to surface the next day I brought my son's Cadillac to them. They changed the oil and tried to sell me a battery for his 95 Caddy. I told them the battery was only two years old and we have had no problems, The assistant manager "Joe" insisted on doing a load test. They tried to tell me the battery was bad but I refused a $120. Interstate battery. When I tried to leave the car wouldn't start. Allegedly it wouldn't hold a charge. Guess what? I had to buy a new battery just to get home. I took old battery with me and had a fleet mechanic test it....it was perfectly fine. In the "green". The scammed my son and may have cost me thousands of dollars for transmission work. I emailed the corporation and it's been two days. No one has called me back yet. Here I sit with a transmission problem at 6:30 AM. In a word...Don't go here! read more

Thought I was getting a good deal, oil change for 20 bucks after coupon. $29.99 for air filter change? Well, if hubby isn't going to do it then we might as well do it here... Yeah, it's just another Jiffy Lube. The thing is, they are still doing oil changes for $20 at this place. Where I live, this is becoming more and more rare. Most places are between $25 and $30 now. What else can I say? My car has 20K miles on it and they were trying to talk me into some extra stuff I didn't really need. Went in for an oil change last week, but because they look at everything under the sun to find opportunities to make money (hey, I get it), I left with clean oil, a changed brake light, and... a key that would no longer start my car? The worst. Avoid at all costs. I made the mistake of asking for a tire rotation. Apparently they had never done one before. They stripped my car's lug nuts, then (literally, I'm not joking) left to go to the closest auto parts store to get replacements . . . which were, of course, garbage compared to the factory set they ruined. Drive away from this place! Twice now they charged for services or equipment not provided. They went through the motions of removing my wiper blades as if changing them, then put the old ones back on. When I called them on it, they just said sorry - saw the unopened box of new blades in the garbage can. NOT an accident. read more
