It is always a pleasure to sit in their customer area during those times. However, Sunday morning when I backed out of my garage to meet family for brunch in downtown Lynchburg, I heard a weird crunching sound. Yep, a flat tire...and, of course, the person who would normally help me was in Italy. So, I text messaged the Chrome Auto business line. On Monday morning, I called first thing. Jeff came with one of his workers to my house and plugged the tire, put air in the tire and drove me back to his shop. Yes, I purchased 4 new tires as mine were 6 years old; but, the customer care that went into this whole ordeal is truly above and beyond expectation, even for a local small business auto repair shop. Which make sense for the type of work that may need more time. Our vehicles were ready for pick up at or a little earlier at the time they said to get them. CAUTION: with tire changes, told to drive 15-20 miles after the sensor light went on after snow tires put on - ended up checking the air with my own gauge. None of the tires were the same pressure. Ended up with a flat on our trip due to rim damage, unknown how that could happen.

They once replaced a radiator in a car without first pressure testing it. A fundamental step in radiator replacement. The radiator leaked. So they had the gall to charge me for the first installation AND for the removal of the bad part and installation of what, I guess, they hoped was a good part. Picked up car and there was no heat. They had failed to burp the cooling system using the small plug on the holding tank made for that purpose. Another time, I arrived 8-10 minutes before closing only to find the office doors locked and my car in the lot UNLOCKED. I had a valet key and I drove the car home. My wife took her car to this place for an oil change and State Inspection. The 'mechanic' left off the access panel under the chassis for oil pan access. I was told they could not get the part for weeks. I found the panel on eBay for $15. I have not used this place for some time now, but I felt it necessary to forewarn people who are considering taking their vehicle to Forest Automotive. BEWARE.

He explained in detail what could be the problem, but asked me to bring car in, NO PROBLEM. Next, I asked did I need appointment, and cost, he told me I didn't need appointment, and there would be NO cost for test, and it would be up to me if I wanted to get it fixed. This is where everything took a turn for the worse. I went in, asked for Justin, and told the young man at counter, I had just spoken to Justin, and he told me I could come up for him to do test. The young man advised JUSTIN that I was there, JUSTIN told him he NEVER talked to me about bringing my car in, and didn't tell me there was no charge, and the fee would be $98. Next, JUSTIN came to the front, didn't acknowledge me at all, turned around quickly, and went back to the car he was working on, at this point I'm feeling DISRESPECTED, and JUSTIN LIED about a conversation we had about 40 mins prior to me getting there. How would I know to ask for JUSTIN if I had not talked to him prior, and why would I take the time to drive up there?? If JUSTIN would LIE about a PHONE CALL he had with me, I feel he would LIE about anything when speaking with customers. I would advise anyone that talks to JUSTIN about getting repairs, get it in WRITING first. Again, if JUSTIN lied about something as simple as a conversation about bringing my car there, I would question his work ETHIC, as well as his INTEGRITY!! Today I was visiting Lynchburg, where I grew up, and was headed to the Blue Ridge Parkway. When I…read moregot gas, my Jeep did not start. I had thought my battery may be showing signs of age, and had Jeep check it last week, they said it was fine. So I ended up going to Harris Tire Company on on Forest Road. They were very freindly and assured me that they would help me, if they could. This Jeep has the stop/start feature, and required a special piece of equipment. They did have that and were able to change it out with no ill affect to the CPU in the Jeep. This took less than 30 minutes and we were off. Was so nice to have the battery fully operational, and know that I would not get stranded in the mountains. Thank you to Kyle and the whole crew. Arrived a few minutes early, they took my car back on time and it was done quickly. The inspector even put my new tags on for me which was super helpful to me. 7/25- Third visit to this shop and another successful visit. I get this is a corporate brand company but when you walk in you feel like you are more in a small mom and pop shop. All the same smiling faces. This is an honest and fair shop that isn't looking just to make a dollar. Their interactions show they really care for their customers and keeping their cars safe.
