I have never been charged for a special filter before... Until today! In addition to whatever percentage of the oil change price included the filter, they claimed that my filter was an additional $15! When I questioned the price, the kid told me that it was at their cost with a slight 20 to 30% markup. I called them out on that, but they said that's what the cost was to them. Imagine my surprise when I get home and look it up, my oil filter from Amazon is $5.80 with subscribe and save... $6.44 if I wanted to buy it immediately. So I'm certain that the company doesn't pay more than $3 for my filter and the $15 up charge was unscrupulous business practices if not exploitively sexist behavior because... That's at least a 200% mark-up if purchased from Amazon but probably a 400-500% mark-up with wholesale pricing! My husband went to get an oil change with them the other week, he owns a Dodge Journey. While his oil filter cost $2+ more than mine cost, they did not charge him a extra $15 claiming that his filter was more expensive than the usual one. I am used to paying for one additional quart of oil (most places $5-$7 extra), because my car uses 6 quarts... Come to find out that they charge $9 for one additional quart of oil. Their conduct is absolutely unethical and questionablr if even legal...

After having my truck for longer than expected, I received a call saying they were unable to bleed my brakes and the new total would be over $1,100! I knew something felt off, and decided to tow my truck elsewhere. A second shop had my brakes bled in less than one hour for a fraction of the cost. I believe the auto industry can have the reputation for upselling and dishonesty due to shops like RPM.

I called and was most impressed with Chris who was very knowledgeable and said he'd like to inspect my vehicle to verify that the upgrade was doable. After verifying that it was and giving me an estimate we set up an appointment to do the install. C & L's location is very clean and the staff extremely professional. In less than 90 minutes and at what I consider a reasonable cost, I now have a fully LED equipped SUV with much brighter and safer! Well they don't check all the fluids and other items. After I notice a slight drip thinking they didn't wipe it off good so I do. Then the engine starts to tick and oil starts to leak a little more. I take it back they say they didn't replace the drain plug but it doesn't look too bad and will order the drain plug (even though they had it on hand last time). I take it home check the oil a few days later as now it has leaked all over my driveway after sitting for the weekend since it's my work vehicle. The oil is still full and now I look closer it is severely overfilled. Take it back again and the same tech is there and does not recall the conversation we had and did not order the plug. Did the oil change for free but waited almost an hour for the plug and wanted to dismiss my claim of if the oil is overfilled it would cause my lifters to tick. I have worked on my personal vehicle for a decade and was not pleased at with how this was handled and now have oil stained on my driveway.
