I hesitated, asked a few questions about applying that charge to eventual repair cost and then left mystified. When I got home, I checked with my trusted AI agent to find out about this. I was told that shops do charge to run diagnostics and that $209 was very high, especially given that the charge will not offset the cost of the repair. My agent suggested that I go to AutoZone and for $10 they can retrieve the code that might give a clue as to what the problem is. Among the possible causes for the engine-light was loose gas cap. Low and behold, that was it and for $10 I solved the problem that Sullivan tire would have charged me $209 to discover. Why didn't the technician at the front suggest that before trying scamming me out of $209 unnecessarily? Does he know that? I'm sure he does and Sullivan tire does as well. I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future.

DO NOT GO HERE! I made a 12pm appt for an oil change. I arrived and was offered a free tire…read morerotation.. I couldn't see the harm in accepting. I waited at the site.. two hours went by. The front desk person finally approached me and explained there was an issue with the tire rotation. He said the lug nuts were "swollen" so they had to HAMMER each one off. As a result, I had 20 lug nuts that were deformed and could no longer be of use. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AFTER THE FIRST OR SECOND LUG NUT THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE. To fix it, they were going to have to replace all 20 lug nuts at a cost of $135. The staff member asked me if this was ok.. I replied "I don't really have a choice, do I?" and he said "not really." I had no other option besides saying yes, because my tires were no longer attached to the car. My simple 45 min oil/$90 oil change accumulated to in 3 hours and $200 (without my permission).
