I always bring my car here for service and they always do a fantastic job. My only concern is the reception I get not so friendly. I ask questions and am answered in not so nice tone There's no day have gone and asked for a loaner car and told it's available I love this place for my car service but please customer service matters a lot. Reading the previous comments I feel like there is some type of scam going on. I got gas today I noticed the gas go over the amount I asked , I flagged the guy down I guess he couldn't hear me with his head phones. Eventually he noticed me and stopped the gas. I told him that went over the amount I asked for. He immediately went off on me saying well why u said yes when i repeated it back, I said bc I thought you repeated the amount I said. It wasn't a big deal I would have paid the amount it went over but to tell me just get the hell out of here he will pay for it he just never wants me to come back was uncalled for. I've been living out here for 2 years and would often stop here but never again. And btw I still paid and accepted his apology but I hope no one has an encounter like I had. The owner here is so unnecessarily condescending. You'd get better customer service from an automated kiosk than this place and its owner. During my day off last week I brought my car in for an inspection, the same way I did last year at this location. I have an EV and recognize the process was a little different and I was turned away because I didn't have a generic piece of equipment so they could jack my car up. That's not the problem. The problem was the condescending and dismissive attitude of the owner. Rather than answer a simple question, he restated the same 4 word response. Mind you during my previous inspection, nothing additional was requirement and I did not even own that piece of equipment last year. When I asked why this wasn't a requirement last year he reinforced that it was and insinuated I must be mistaken and that they definitely didn't perform the inspection last year. When I explained that it was done here I even recounted the conversation he and I had the prior year while I was waiting. It was at this business and with the same individual but the insinuations of me being wrong or lying continued. I decided to try again after that will all the necessary equipment in hand. Needless to say the attitude was exactly the same and I left. The owner seems like he doesn't want my business so I decided to not give it to him. $85 to fix a flat tire that had already been taken off the vehicle. I brought the tire in due to a low pressure warning. I'm not an expert but I thought the tire was leaking around the rim. $50 later Pat the owner called to say the tire was fixed. I was ok with everything at this point with the exception of Pat's attitude. Very unfriendly, crass and not customer focused. After two days my low pressure light came back on with the same tire. I brought it back expecting it was fixed properly the first time. After another $35 I got the tire back. It had a puncture in the tread that they plugged. I asked why wasn't this fixed the first time and the response was it most likely happened after they fixed it. I find this very hard to believe since the car was driven only a few miles after the first fix. It's possible but very unlikely. It's very strange it was the same rear tire and just two days. I , my family and friends will not support this establishment any longer. If I had checked the rating beforehand I wouldn't have gone there in the first place. read more

I was almost out of gas, so I pulled in to fill my tank. The attendant was Extremely rude. Short bald guy in his mid fifties pumping gas... he filled my tank, took my card, came back and returned my card. I said. "Thank you" and was putting my credit card back in my wallet. (I am not a slow moving person, it was maybe 4 seconds) before he starts waving me forward... I was obviously about to pull out and was just putting my stuff away and he starts yelling. "C'mon!!! C'mon!! C'mon CLOWNS". He is very lucky that I had someone waiting for me at the dealership down the street otherwise I would have thrown my car back in park and had words with him. read more

Love this place. Highly recommend it for Gas and for servicing the car. The gas guys are always friendly and quick. Summer or winter they are helpful and good to talk to. Gas prices are usually cheaper than the competition. For inspections and repairs I have always had great service. I can usually get the car in the same day with minimal wait. Always delivered what they promised and never tried to up sell on repairs that aren't needed, that's a huge plus. Worth a try for sure. read more

I come here for gas regularly. Price is always the best or as low as anywhere else, plus it's full service! However, the reason I'm posting this is because at least one of their gas pump workers is such a pleasant and sweet young man that it makes buying gas there something I look forward to!! If I could put no stars, I would. This place made me pay for a oil change when i wanted a state inspection sticker. I ended up paying for both even though i got an oil change a couple days prior. STOLE MY CREDIT CARD! I pulled in to get gas, thinking I had cash. They had already started pumping when I realized I didn't...gave them a credit card that I NEVER use. Three days later, I get a notification from my bank asking if I am trying to charge dinner at a Boston restaurant...not me! They also had purchased tix to a comedy club in Boston that night. My bank took care of the charges and I filed a police report with Sudbury PD. Sad when you try to support a local business and they end up being thieves. And, though they said nothing directly, the police were "not surprised". This has clearly happened before...stay away from these crooks. read more

Pat's group came highly recommended, and I'm always happy to support local business and staying away from Jiffylube and Firestone. My car hasn't given me any trouble, and I brought it in around 18 months ago since my brakes were starting to squeal. Pat gave me a solid quote and I gave it to him on the spot! On top of that, he offered a free Volvo loaner which was incredibly generous since Rt 20 isn't the friendliest to pedestrians. 6 months later, I was back to do my tires and my bottom shield, which he was able to take care of with no appointment and within 4 hours. A little pricey compared to other places, but I stick with what I know. Things were going solid with that until a few weeks later when my brakes started to squeal a bit. I had driven 6,000 miles since my brake job, and I knew that shouldn't be happening. One of Pat's mechanics told me it was probably dirt, and took it in for half an hour and gave it right back. A week later, it was squealing more, but they were busy and didn't have time to look at it. So I stopped at a Firestone on the way home, and they said that the pads were completely worn, and there was etching on the rotor. They offered (for free, since I showed them the receipt from SA) reset the calipers, and give me a discount on the pad and rotor replacement. They even boxed up the rotors for me to bring back to SA and show Pat since "the whole brake job was done basically upside down and backwards." When I brought the box to the shop, I was yelled at for not bringing the car in for them to fix, and laughed out of the office. I didn't ask for anything other than acknowledgement of a mistake, an apology (no matter how insincere), and I would have gone back gladly. But the disrespect and shadiness that others have experienced cause me to not go back to Pat again... read more

Aahhh, fuel light came on in Mr. G's car. I don't drive it often so I soon realized it needed a fast fuel up and knew I couldn't get across town so I pulled into Sudbury Auto. Having never been there I was a bit off. I couldn't see a sign stating full service but it appeared to be just that. It was freezing out and I was happy to think it was but also didn't want to get too excited. Sure enough there were two service attendants suited up like snowmobilers going in and out to run credit cards and process each transaction. After fueling up they have each car pull ahead while they get a receipt thus opening up space for incoming vehicles. It was fast and easy and the price was good. I kind of felt bad that I was sitting in my car as I watched them hustle around in the cold. So thankful and glad I didn't run out of gas on a frigged night. I would not take my car back here. Ever. I took my Mazda3 in with a typical squeaky brake problem - and they replaced them just fine. Then, a few months later my brakes started to make another new noise. I dropped the car off and they said the pads they installed were faulty and they replaced them for free. Seems like good service so far, right? Well, a few months later the new noise came back again. I dropped the car off again and this time they claim they couldn't get it to replicate the noise. After picking it up, it continued to make noises every time I stepped on the brakes for another month. I thought I would bring it back and give them a third chance. They continued to say that they couldn't replicate the noise! I had to go there and drive with the mechanic in the car to point out the most obvious grinding noise you have ever heard. When they called me back with the estimate, they said it had nothing to do with their brake job and that it would take $1500 of other work (on the shocks of all things) to fix. This is when a just general bad experience started to feel like I was getting ripped off. I took the car to another mechanic in my area and they instantly diagnosed problem causing the noise and fixed it for a couple of hundred dollars. No return of the dreaded grinding noise. This was a long story, but by the end of my four trips there - my car was in worse shape then it was before I brought it; the staff was getting short with me and not answering my questions; and I truly felt like I was getting ripped off. Not how you want to feel when you leave a mechanic. The only saving grace to this place is that they give you a free loaner car - which is nice, but hardly worth it if they can't fix the actual problem! read more

Based on the professional and courteous service getting an inspection sticker for my wife's car, I decided to give them a shot to win my business with my truck. Pat was courteous, got my truck squared away much faster than I expected with a price that was lower than I was expecting. When Pat saw I was getting an Uber to get home, he volunteered that a limited number of free loaners are available. This visit has made me a customer. I've stopped into Sudbury Automotive on Rt. 20 many times to get gas, but dropped in this past Saturday with my daughter so she could get an inspection sticker on her car. We arrived about 15 minute before closing, and as we got out of the car for the tech to take it into the bay for the inspection, we somehow locked the keys inside the car. UGH! After 10 minutes on hold waiting for AAA, two of mechanics from Sudbury Automotive came out with tools and asked "can we give it a try?" They worked at it for 15 minutes in the hot sun, staying past closing time to unlock the car. When they got the door open I asked to settle up and they both said "Have a nice day!" We didn't get the sticker, but will be sure to go back to get it this week. Great guys and great neighbors! read more

The guy in the mechanic office is the most unfriendly person and shows no interest in accommodating customers. I went in for an inspection on my car that is in perfect working condition and this guy failed it because of the license plate. After having to remove the license plate which I have not had to do since I have bought the car two years ago, I was charged additional money to fix the license plate on top of the regular inspection costs. I don't know if this is the only person managing the garage work but I would be vary of talking your car there. This guy created a problem that I did not have in the past with my car which is in great condition. read more

Took our car to Sudbury Automotive this morning for an exhaust system repair estimate. Received a quick call outlining the parts and labor needed for a total repair estimate of over $1,200. No options or alternatives were mentioned. After getting up off the floor, I went back to Sudbury Automotive, picked up the car and took it to another repair shop in Sudbury that took me through some repair estimates and alternatives (after market parts versus dealer parts) and got the job done for just under $600!! I would not go back to Sudbury Automotive under any circumstances. read more

Looking for inspection sticker? They are hard to come by here. 1) they listed something on inspection failure report that was working fine. 2) after replacing the tire they had an issue with, they claimed a different tire had tread too low and refused to give sticker. That tire wasn't a problem the first time. 2 weeks later it's suddenly bad enough to fail me again? What kind of games are they playing? 3) They fail for petty reasons. Aside from being a stickler for tire tread, another example is one out of two light bulbs above license plate being out. Really? Took it to my trusted, local mechanic and he couldn't believe they failed me! While in waiting room second time another customer also came back for retest and said similar story that his local mechanic did not think tire was bad enough to fail. So im definitely not the only one frustrated by their BS. Waste of time and money. read more

I am so upset with this owner, Pat. My 19yo daughter went to get her car inspected (her first experience as a new driver/owner). She had her 14yo sister with her. I had told her it is usually a quick inspection, no big deal. She pulled into the lot and spoke with Pat, who took her keys and registration and let her know it would be "at least an hour" and promptly walked away with said keys/registration. So, they were locked out of her car, with no where to sit and wait in this heat. She was too nervous to go ask him for her keys/reg back as he was very abrupt with her, so she called me to come pick them up. When I arrived over 20 minutes later I was livid to see them standing in the middle of the lot, next to her car, while Pat was walking around looking busily at everything but me. He clearly knew they were stranded; why not leave her keys so they could sit in the car & wait??? In any case, I brought them home to await his promised call. And we waited, and waited... When I called to ask if the car was done I'm sure you won't be shocked to hear Pat was rude and condescending. We will never be back & I will make sure to tell everyone I know about this awful experience. Life is way too short to be as miserable and nasty as this person was to us... read more

We had decent service there for a few years and spent hundreds in car repairs there. Repairs got done quickly, and their loaner service is great, but the staff is very rude. They even yelled at my wife once when she was pumping gas to move her car to the other side. There's plenty of competition for good service shops, so we won't be back. read more

This has to be one of the friendliest gas attendants I ever had. I ended up taking a wrong turn and I'm not sure how I ended up where I did but to my surprise I saw a gas station still open. It was about 9:15 Monday evening so I pulled in to ask for directions. The attendant was very pleasant and very professional as I asked him directions to get me back to 128. I didn't need gas at the time but he still washed my windows. If I'm ever out this way again I will certainly stop in for gas or even have my repairs done here, If the gas attendant was this friendly Im sure this would be an honest and reputable station. Unbelievable service and attention to detail. We have been with Sudbury Automotive for 40 years. It has always been a dependable place and is even more so under Pat Bond's guidance and expertise. We have always received excellent attention and timely service whether it is a major repair or only a wiper replacement. Pat always has a "loaner" car for us to use. If we decide to wait for the oil change, the service is done quickly. On one occasion, we were on our way to New York City when our engine blew. We were towed back to Sudbury Automotive from Connecticut. They insisted that we take one of their late model Volvos to continue our trip to New York. No matter what the car dealership offers, we will stay with Sudbury Automotive for our service. read more

I brought my car in to diagnose why my A/C isn't cold, but more importantly because of a noise coming from the front driver's side of the car when I turn right. I was called after dropping my car off saying that a heat exhaust plate was loose and they repaired it and told me the labor costs without my consent. They also replaced the fuse to my cooling fan without my consent. They did say that my cooling fans would need to be replaced as they also were not operating. The part would need to be ordered, and they would keep my car overnight. The garage is next door to my work, but and hour drive from home. I said I would need a loaner car, which they said they would provide me free of charge. I asked how late they were open that night, to which they replied "10:00". They asked me when I was going to pick up the loaner car, and I said "between 5:30 and 6:00". I got to the garage at 5:45, the shop was closed and locked, and only the gas attendant was there. They forgot to leave the attendant with keys to a loaner car. My car is also locked, and I do not have a spare key. They left me stranded an hour drive from home with no car. The attendant tried to call the shop owner, but got voicemail. The next day, I got nothing but a "Sorry about that". They provided no other form of apology and no assurance that something like this would not happen again. They charged a premium for the fan, and at $98/hour for labor I expect more professionalism. As I drive away, my car is still making the same noise when I turn right. They reported not hearing it. Did they even drive it? In addition, my car horn stopped working after picking it up (I imagine this is just an issue with the fuse they somehow screwed with). I have been a loyal customer; this was my 4th or 5th visit. Neither I nor those who I have referred will be going here anymore.They are friendly, but either incompetent, untrustworthy, or just apathetic. read more

A CAUTIONARY TALE - I sent my 2000 Saab 9-3 in for a diagnostic and they told me I needed to get my ignition cassette replaced. They told me the part cost $668.07 and it required two-and-a-half hours labor for $181.44 - a total of $891.26. Meanwhile, I did some independent research online for the part, and the the highest price I could find it for NEW with a warranty, was $320. They were trying to charge me DOUBLE what the part cost. I called and asked why this was and they said that they don't order parts online and their price might be that high because they could be the third or fourth person handling the part - with each person marking it up. ^absolutely ridiculous. I did some more research and it turns out that this particular repair only takes about 5 minutes - NOT the two-and-a-half hours they said it would take. It's as easy as taking out four screws and placing the new part in. So, they're trying to tell me it would take two-hours-and-twenty-minutes to reset the engine codes for me. A complete joke. If you do choose to go there, do your research before they do the work. You could find yourself paying TWICE AS MUCH... ...or in my case (i found the part for $244 new with a warranty and I'm going to do the work myself) FOUR TIMES MORE than you would otherwise. read more
