This will be a honest review. I used jiffy a couple of weeks ago for my truck rental. They were on time Actually early which is a good thing. The study guide they give you is great. The trucks were clean and new. The mentoring on the other hand tell you to do things differently then what is on the study guide they give you. Which doesn't make any sense. I know he has good intentions but trying to tell you to do it a different way and say things differently right before your test gets you really nervous. Where to begin! As a motivated and hard working individual I expected more out of the is place and maybe not necessarily the place but the driver rep Mike!!! He was very rude and I felt discriminated. He started off with saying the start was 15 minutes late when it was only 5 due to uninformed about reregistration. Then in the middle of the drive he had me pull over on the highway to verify my forms which I had provided already and informed that location of them in the pouch that was handed to him. It seemed as his negative attitude and discriminatory demeanor towards me was a let down. This employee needs to be addressed and or the company needs to learn better ethical values to their hard working paying customers! read more

Really disappointed overall in how things played out here. I've been cramming with self-study guides and everything else for two months solid until I finally set up my Class A In A Day program with Jiffy's, and I took my first DMV test and failed. Totally my fault missing some language on the trailer inspection. Really bummed out I signed back up with jiffy's where they said they would go over everything with me and get me set back up with a DMV. I showed up at 6:45 in the morning like they asked drove around for a couple of minutes and they took me straight to the DMV instead of going over any real instruction. I had asked that we go over our pre-trip before we get to the DMV and I was so jammed up in time by the instructor that we didn't get any time at all and I failed my test again with stuff they never covered in the school or on the pre-trip. The first time I signed up was $699, And they said they would do me a favor letting me do my second session for $399. What a joke. Literally less than an hour between when I showed up and my DMV appointment and at best 15 minutes of half-hearted instruction. I really don't feel like it's any value for the money, and their minimalist instruction is definitely not worth the money. Take your business elsewhere for quality instruction and for a business that wants to see you succeed and actually get your class A. read more

First off, I don't believe any of the positive reviews for Jiffy truck rental. I was a student at NLC and the pass rate they claim is far from honest. They don't care if you fail, I believe that's what they want as they took a lot of money from me, I tried 3 times every time the jiffy staff said I'm ready. I failed all 3 times and no it's not because the Redding DMV is difficult. It's because they sit in the passenger seat while you train and scroll Instagram. I.e. David the bigger guy. He was with me twice. Didn't help me, always said I'm doing it right. Trash talked my buddy who practice with them for 20 hours which is highly unprofessional. If you're a NLC student I STRONGLY recommend going over to American Truck school on 8530 Commercial way, Redding. They helped me out with the cost as Jiffy is not license and milked me. I trained for a couple hours and tested after lunch. Passed every test and got complimented by Patrick at the DMV. They're legit, Jiffy is not. All the staff at Redding DMV doesn't like Jiffy's because they fail way too often and wastes their time. This is an honest review. I am not mad cause I failed three times with this company, I actually am, the reason they deserve no more than a single star is because they train you to fail. read more

Awesome trucking school! I've been to other trucking schools in the past and they do not compare! My instructor was Dan. Awesome old school guy, super informative, has no problems touching up your weaker skills, explains everything to your understanding. Very chill/relaxed training session. Covered everything from beginning to end during the learning process. I took a one day, 5 hour course and passed first try with some experience in the past, of course. Still, this was the first school I was successful with and would recommend anyone to try this school first. Even if it's a commute. Worth your money, worth your time. I want to give credit where it's due, I used jiffy truck rental to take my CDL test this past Monday. The first person I talked to was David, he was very professional and helpful. I had contacted them during the dmv covid shutdown, so he wasn't able to give me a tentative test date. That's not his fault at all, covid has thrown a wrench in a lot of businesses, but he did give me a ballpark range of when he might be able to get me a date. He emailed me everything that I needed to study. The study material was great, it was in color and had pictures so it was easy to understand. He stayed in touch with me and even called to give me the option to test in Redding CA, but I wasn't in a hurry so he ended up calling me back in a few days after some appointments became available closer to me in West Sacramento. The day before my test date, Dale contacted me to confirm the meet time and location. Dale was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took his time to make sure to answer any questions I had and was very supportive that he wants me to pass on my first try. A huge thank you to Dale. I would highly recommend anyone to jiffy truck rental. Keep in mind, the instructor is there to help you and answer any questions you have, but it's still on you to make sure you've studied the material they provide well in advance. I studied the material for a solid two weeks everyday leading up to my test date. I passed! read more

The trucks and trailers they have are super clean and mechanically sound, and the crew all have a good understanding of what it takes to pass. They have a good relationship with DMV, so test scheduling isn't something you have to deal with at all. Also the pricing was exactly as advertised, so there are no surprises to your pocket book. I hope I never need to take the CDL test again, but I would use Jiffys if I did! 100% I reccomend Jiffys to anyone working on getting their CDL! read more

Amazing! Drove up 9 hours because there were no available appointments for dmv or instRuctors in Los Angeles until late March so I looked around online up North because I plan to be a lineman and put my name in the books. I trained with Kenny, David, and Brandon . All them were awesome guys and instructors! First day I got trained I was throwing a tantrum because my terminology for ore trip was not the same ussed in the Redding dmv(keep that in mind!) however they managed to reteach me the right way . Not so great. My rental driver showed up an hour late. Rushed me through the review process. Took me to a closed off road and basically was on his phone while I practiced. He didn't care. And every time I asked a question he berated me saying he couldn't teach me if I didn't listen. I was about to just walk away from the whole thing. read more

Kenny is amazing !!!! I passed my Class A and gave a 5 star rating due to Kenny! I cannot say enough about how good I think he is at what he does, I firmly believe that I passed my skills and road test thanks to the great tips and skills he taught me. (turn and come back early) will always stick with me. I also what to give my appreciation to David I trained with him only one day but he also really was interested in teaching me what I needed to know and helped me a lot. I do have to say that I did train with one other person and for me the training was worthless, the trainers are not all as good as Kenny and David. Make sure you get one of these two. When I called jiffy they said they make the DMV appointment at the end of the day so they can train all day than go to the appointment right after so I signed my son up for their one day training. They were not true to their word. My son showed up in the morning and trained til 1 pm to than take the DMV test. He failed the test along with 3 other Jiffy customers who also failed. Jiffy than charged us again to retake the test with only one more hour of training. My son would not have passed the test without crib notes he borrowed from a friend. Go to American truck school to get a more complete training program ( or anywhere else) Response: My son didn't use the crib notes during the test. He used them to study for the test and than passed without any help from you. What you just said is not what you verbally told us when we gave you our money. read more

Yesterday 10/8/19 I took and passed my Test to have my CDL Reinstated and I honestly couldn't have done it without Mike in Sacramento. This was a awesome, wonderful very fulfilling experience, Mike was very knowledgeable, professional, kind, and so encouraging I will definitely be telling everyone about my experience with this company! Went today to go for my Class A commercial driver license in west Sacramento. My instructor was Mike and he was amazing! That guy knows his stuff, took the time to repeat it for me and maybe even dumb it down at times lol. Mike has a lot of patience and was really a great trainer. He was early to our training in a nice clean newer looking 6 speed manual Frieghtliner, he drove us over to a large parking lot, then started with Pre trip items and kept repeating himself until I felt comfortable moving on, then was the skills test and was super hard to learn but got it, then onto driving around Sacramento where I had no idea where to go, he did though. In the end I couldn't have done it without Mike and Jiffts truck rental. I passed today with a class A license Word to the wise, do not watch YouTube videos!! They will mess you up, they did for me anyways. That is the only thing I wish this company had was good videos to watch for each section as I don't learn off reading more of a hands on guy... Most reviews are either loved it or hated it. Mine was slightly more positive than negative 3.5/5. Signed up for their 3 day program one for around 2000$. I had 3 different "mentors" and I say mentors because thats what they describe them as. Given that they like to point out that they are technically a rental company not a school. The study guide they give you is really informative, which includes pre trip, Incab inspection and air brakes. The only thing I didn't like about the 'mentors' was each one trains you their way. If you have different ones you have to learn it in different ways. Personally I felt like i was just taught the "how to" do certain things (skills, air rake tests etc) rather than the "why" and reasoning behind it. If you get Kenny he will train you real good, he's probably the best trainer they have. They do have really clean, easy to maneuver trucks and the staff is really friendly and good people overall. And they rely on you to have at least some experience be it driving big trucks or backing up a trailer, if not I'll be honest you probably won't pass. One big negative was that they don't have a yard to train in, they take you to the parking lot or a dollar general and its hard to practice or concentrate with traffic and pedestrians walking and driving right next to you. On the other hand one big plus is that they take care of the scheduling dmv appointments for you. They train you on how to pass the test not necessarily how to learn confidently how to drive a truck. If you need more than just practice and a few pointers here and there you might want to go elsewhere. read more

I had DAVID as my instructor he was very professional and knew what he was talking about. The trucks are brand new and have six speed transmissions so it makes driving easy. I went into get my class A cdl it took me two times to get it. I strongly believe it was the dmv's fault I didn't get it the first time the Dot lady was trying to get a new job some where else and I felt like she didn't give me a fair shot, she was adding things to the pre trip that are not in the cdl handbook. So I don't know how anyone could possibly pass. But all in all the experience was good got what I needed and Jiffy did a great job taking care of me. Thank you David! I have always wanted my CDL A license. I am in Sacramento and there are a TON of truck schools in the area that charge a lot for their training, which I didn't think I needed. I can drive a manual transmission, I can back a trailer, and I can read the DMV handbook. I knew going in Jiffy's is NOT a truck school, they are a truck RENTAL. I spent the day with Rich in West Sacramento and he is awesome. I showed up with a lot of studying done already and he filled in the rest. We spent a few hours going over the pre-trip, in cab and air brakes, and honestly, it was like drinking from a fire hose. We then did about an hour of driving around. If you come prepared, that is all you should need and that is all Jiffy's is designed to provide. You have to put in the book work ahead of time along with knowing how to drive with a trailer. I got my class A and am thankful I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars for the same goal. read more

I wish I could say that I had a great experience with Jiffy Truck Rental. I was paired up with a guy down in West Sacramento name Mike. I signed up for the 3 day training 16-18MAR2022. I flew in on the 15MAR2022, prior to my arrival I let Jeff know I was Active Duty flying up from San Diego, CA and how motivated and excited I was taking this course with Jiffy. He or his staff sent me a package to follow with Hotel recommendation (Radisson Hotel)... That was disgusting to say the least. If you are into Drugs, Prostitutes and etc that may be for someone else. Unfortunately that's not for me I carry myself as a Professional and with Respect. I land and relocate to the Holiday Inn Express which is at the corner of the DMV. I reached out to my Instructor Mike that I made it and checked into my room. He goes, "FYI.... My work day ends at 5pm See you in the morning". I'm clueless as what I'm in for. Every day I got into the Truck with Mike he told me to tell him what i needed to be trained on.... The hell kind of question is that?? I paid over $2500 for a 3 day course I expect to be training to the instruction in which i will be expected to perform. Everyday was a shit show. Mind you I never drove a Class A vehicle but I am familiar with drive a Synchronized 6 spd manual. So it wasn't terribly hard. But that was no where near enough training to pass a DMV Pre-Trip, Skills or Road Test. I felt I was robbed and completely taking advantage of. I cant say it was the ownerships fault been in a way it is. I share with Mike I paid for Instruction to be guided and educated as to how to operate the vehicle and how i need to inspect the vehicle for safe operation. However I did ask Mike if he was a Licensed Certified Instructor, in which he said no. He landed the job because he met the owner at a funeral cause he long term friend passed and he was offered the position with such good salary he could not refuse. he proud him self as being a Local Truck Driver with 20 yrs plus. While we were in the Truck it was more conversation about America "BLAH BLAH BLAH' and TRUMP. I aint give a crap about none of that, All I cared about was getting trained to perform the necessary requirements to obtain my Class A CDL. From the beginning of everything I knew I would be screwed by the Mike time we went to the DMV... And that's just how it played out. Mike would run on about how if was the DMV Examiner he would fail people. And to be honest you can here different Instructors chatting about how students were driving on the Skills Test and how shocked they are when you pass! Its as if they are beating on you to fail or some shit! I suppose if your like or have the same ideologies you may be welcome to the cool kids club you may be well taken care of. But if your an out sider Stay Strong and Hold the line this is one expensive hellaval ride. Its all kind of Cliques between the Instructors and the DMV Examiners. Judge the environment for your self. Lastly, the appointment. So West Sacramento Commercial DMV Closes at 4pm. i was scheduled to have a 2:30pm appointment. The never called me out until 3:30pm. A normal Class A test takes about 2-2.5 hrs. From that moment I knew i was screwed. I went out was tasked with performing Section C of the Pre-Trip, (Passed), In-Cab Inspection (Passed), Air Brakes, I got all the way through Air Brakes to the Spring Brake Test just for the Examiner to clip my wings because it was to agree or disagree with the PSI shown on a color coded Air Pressure Gauge. I called 45 PSI she said it reads 37-40 PSI to her and that unfortunately I failed and will have to reschedule and take my test again. That was a strategic setup to save time and to get me out before 4pm. Mike comes up to me and says, "Shit Dude I was thinking we should have spent more time on Air Brakes". SMH that was one crazy week........Im over it. Taken my time and business to some where local. I dont know how to feel or what to think. All I was trying to do is look for a honest and forth right School who could help set me up for success. In turn i feel like i was shafted and in the end. He said if i want to reserve the truck and training its $895 per day .....LOL Yeah Right Not get me twice... Moral of the story folks make healthy choices and be weary about who you give your money too! read more

My experience wasn't anything like the other reviewers had, in fact I'm flat out shocked by their comments. I had excellent service and instruction from the Jiffy Team and want to give a big shoutout to Jeff and Claudia, along with the crew. I was very green when I started with them (I swear I was struggling to even back that truck up in a strait line), so I took the week long course and spent extended time under the tutelage of Brandon, Kenny, and Miguel. Now I'm not saying it was easy, or that I wasn't stressed the heck out by trying to learn so much in such a short time frame, cause that simply wasn't the case. The reality is that I worked my tail off during my time with them, and studied diligently after hours. At times I desperately needed their expert advice, while at others I just needed them to bite their tongues and let me figure it out on my own. Long story short is that they got me to where I needed to be, and I owe them a debt of gratitude for their know how, effort, and patience. Now, not only am I a commercially licensed driver, but I achieved it by scoring 90 out of 91 on my walk around and in cab inspections, not losing a single point off any of my skills tests, and only committing 13 out of 30 possible errors on my drive test (a few of those points were circumstantial BTW)! Anyhow, I can't imagine having done it without them, and if I had to do it all over again I certainly would. The negative comments are shocking. I took the one day course, I showed up at 0700 and my test was scheduled for 1315. In the six hours I was at the yard I learned how to do a pre-trip test, an air brake test, the inside cab inspection, and also the practical of driving and backing maneuvers. I had ever done the pre-trip, air brake test or the inside cab inspection but I walked away today with my CDL. Kenny was my instructor and this guy knows his stuff inside and out, very patient and very thorough. Don't listen to the negative comments if you need a CDL and you're in Northern California, do yourself a favor and go give these guys your business and let them give you the knowledge that is required.
