beware of sales manager Colin, just lost a deal today by trying to get an extra $3500 out of us by lying and saying he called the dealership that had a better deal when he in fact had not and then suggested their sales (maita suburu) where fake advertising and shady. We were able to call and talk to the sales manager at Miata within minutes of having walked out of the sale with Colin. the manager at Miata confirmed the sales prices were accurate and was happy to send over additional information on pricing If we wanted. While Colin refused to budge from the MSRP price and only offered us a discount (of 750) if we were to take a loan and not pay in full. Will not shop here again will not recommend. I do want to say however Mick the initial sales person seemed professional, kind and authentic in his dealing with us but sadly his sales manager ruined the deal at no fault to him. read more

This place use to be a good spot to order parts from. I personally never take my car in for a service because I do it myself. I do however take a fiancés vehicle for maintenance to maintain the resell value and warranty. This past year they have been under new ownership. I didn't think it would affect my purchasing needs when it came to buy parts. As of lately, there are certain things I cannot acquire from them such as coolant and oil. I found this strange but I think I understand what the new owner is trying to do. It breaks my heart to need to update this review after years of positive service. However, I feel it is necessary in order to make others aware of how Redding Subaru is under new ownership. As such it has become an uncaring corporate shell of its former self. Over ten years and five vehicle purchases proves our families loyalty to this institution. Alas, it doesn't seem to matter anymore. One of our vehicles had free lifetime oil changes and tire rotations. The other four we would pay full price for maintenance (or used to as this establishment has now lost our business.) The new owner decided to no longer honor that agreement. So in order to save a hundred or so dollars they have now lost tens of thousands in the future. Bear in mind the only reason we even stayed with Subaru was because of the customer centric mentality and forever program. Unfortunetly there is no longer any reason to remain, why stay with a business that cares nothing for its customers let alone legacy? Upon questioning a service advisor that has assisted our family for the last decade he was apologetic; but said the new owners aren't budging and it's already cost them multiple other customers. Service beyond compare every time. No nonsense. No BS, and no surprises. On this deal, our sales guy, Cheyne made the whole car buying process a pleasant experience. My 2015 Subaru Legacy that I bough new from Redding Subaru began shaking at around 40 mph, so I took it into the service department to get it looked at. The service writer told me that it was determined that the car needed a new transmission and would cost $8,000 to replace. He said I could write a letter to Subaru pleading my case of the economic burden this would have on me and maybe they'd help with some of the expense. I ended up taking it to Thrive Automotive in Redding for a second opinion. They quickly diagnosed it as having a bad engine coil, not transition and replaced all 4 for $700 which I gladly paid. The car runs perfectly with no issues. Not ever trusting the Redding Subaru Service Department again except for the free oil changes they do. Very disappointing. read more

Biggest rip off imaginable. They were attempting to charge me $155 for diagnostic and $285 for repair. I was going to need to make a second appointment for repair because they didn't have the part. The next day I took car to another auto place who said the part was fine, didn't need to be replaced, they repaired on the spot in less than 10 minutes, and I asked what the charge was and he said it was free. I insisted that he take $20.. It was like night and day the service I received from the other repair place. I thought I would try Subaru repair out, and I have discovered it to be the biggest rip-off imaginable. Highway robbery, and nothing less. Save your money and go somewhere- anywhere- else. I needed to schedule an oil change and tried to do so on their online system. I wasn't sure if it actually reserved an appointment (didn't get any confirmation email from them) so I called and talked to Michael. He confirmed that the Subaru online booking system wasn't communicating with their online system so I was not booked but that he would take care of me right away. In spite of the fact that the morning I wanted was already booked, he told me that if I got there right at opening time (7:30 am), he'd be able to get me in no problem. When I showed up, I was warmly greeted and invited in. I worked with Clay who is the nicest gentlemen you will meet. I had a coupon and he was sure to mark down to use it on the paperwork. I had opted to wait for my oil change to be completed so he was sure to offer me options (what the waiting room had or where the nearest coffee shop/restaurant was) and told me how long it would likely be. About 20 minutes later, he walked up and said, "All done!" and I was shocked at how fast they were! He went over all the results of their inspection with me - everything showed up good - and completed the paperwork. We almost forgot the coupon but he was quick to remedy that and I was off to the rest of my day with a smile and thanks for coming in. Quick oil change! Courteous and kind customer service! Just what I needed; and WAY more than I had hoped for! Taking my Subaru Forester for its first road trip, I drove from San Jose to Redding for my 1/2-way stop-over en route to Grants Pass. The next morning I had help loading up my SUV, and started onto the freeway when suddenly a pinging started. My Forester helps me drive more safely in many ways, but I didn't know what this was signaling. I wanted to ignore it, but I knew I couldn't, especially with 200 miles on the I5 ahead of me. I asked SIRI to find the nearest Subaru dealership and was delighted to find there was one in Redding. I pulled into the parking lot and parked, hoping someone would come to my rescue. That's how I met Stephan St. Clair. Stephan immediately deduced that the problem was too much weight on the front passenger seat without a seatbelt in use. He connected the seatbelt, securing my travel pillows, snacks, and small cooler on the seat. I drove off, promising to return immediately if it didn't work. Well, it did work, but I returned, anyway. Dealership was not able to process any title / registration electronicly, " snail mail" so that created many issues with CA. DMV. The go to line, DMV lies. Hard sell on extended warranty, FYI, we were able to cancel that. We were offered a 1 free oil change, sales manager reneged on that...lol. They are helpful for the SALE! We tried. 11am on a Friday and we walked in to a line of 5 people waiting to be "processed". Holy cow! No fear - I was checked in within 10 minutes of arriving, notified of a couple recalls they could squeeze in if I wanted to leave it until 4p. Okie dokie! Let's try. Worst experience in 20 years of buying cars. Cash in-hand, ready to purchase, had detailed information on specific vehicles in their inventory, only needed pricing and test-drives. They didn't seem much interested in selling a car. 2 minutes with sales staff and decided to go elsewhere. A leading car dealer won't provide a potential buyer with basic information like pricing and availability, and then wonders why we choose to buy "online". One can only hope the practice of interacting with "sales staff" when buying cars will soon be a thing of the past. read more

I cannot tell you how happy we are with our recent dealings with Redding Subaru. We were in the market for a "new to us" car and after reading the great reviews of Subaru's in Consumer Reports magazine, we headed to Redding Subaru. This particular day was horrible weather wise but the salesman had no issues showing us the ins and outs of every single car. Justin Shepard was his name and he was awesome...a young guy, obviously destined for greater things than selling cars but that's what he was doing this day. We test-drove at least 4 cars that day and he was patient with all our questions and was completely honest with us from the start. We spent so much time there that afternoon that we were running late to an evening function, he offered us a car to take home for an overnight test drive! I had never heard of that before but we were extremely appreciative! We got to really become familiar with the car and by the next morning we knew we wanted it without a doubt. We went back the next day and had to play the typical car buying game, but Justin made it less painful...we ultimately got the deal we wanted and I think both us and the dealership felt good with the outcome. All the employees we encountered were friendly and happy...cracking jokes with us and making us feel comfortable. The dealership is new to Redding and are currently located in a small building for now...they have big plans to expand this year and a newly constructed building is coming soon. I purchased a 2019 Crosstrek in October 2018. Moving from the white 4X4 pickup mode to a lighter environmental footprint. It's a sweet little ride, premium package, sporty and sharp. My plan was to use this as a all around activity vehicle and daily commuter. It delivers all that is necessary with the addition of a tow hitch, bike rack, plus snowboard and kayak racks on the crossbars. Tom was my salesman, pleasant, professional and knows his stuff. They moved the process smoothly along, careful not to miss a dot or a cross on the t...before you know it I'm in the family. I did however have a problem, one that I choose not to disclose because they handled it in the most professional and efficient way possible. We will definitely be back from now on. my wife and i went in there to trade up to a 2014 Subaru Outback from a 2007 Subaru Outback 2.5i limited with 140,000 on it super clean. Well the dealership offered us $50 for it based on the fact wheels were painted black and theyd have to auction it. Thats fricken funny considering 10 of the subaris they were selling used at way over blue book had major issues paint flaking off mismatched tires the list goes on. Our outback was the cleanest car on the lot. they told us we would need $8000 down and payments would be close to $700 a month wtf really Ryan? needless to say we left. A week later i bought a 2005 subaru legacy gt in Sacramento after selling my 95 subaru legacy for $3k. The crappy part of it all is we are going up there friday to have the catalytic converter replaced under warranty hope the service is better than Courtesy Subaru of Chico. read more
