The vies from our table
Wendy S.

My work team goes out once a month for a "local lunch" and our goal is small business. We heard that Jim Bob's has great brisket, so off we went. We arrived and there was already a delicious wafting of smoke and BBQ sauce when we opened the door. Yum. I got a 2 meat platter with spare ribs and brisket. It included 2 sides and I got fries and cornbread. Others had the Haystack burger, a 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey, a Jim Bobs burger and a pulled pork sandwich. I have no photo evidence of our meals because we all dove right in when served. My ribs were spicy, but the meat was very good. The brisket was outstanding. It was more food than I expected and I shared half of the brisket and one rib. The cornbread was warm and perfect and the fries were hot and had a nice coating on them. I'm so full there's no need for dinner! Everybody raved about their food. We loved the look of the restaurant, it's plane themed and it works! The meals were served in a reasonable amount of time, the woman who took our orders came over with our food and made sure we had everything we needed. We got to see a helicopter take off and a small jet arrive and that was certainly different than any other restaurant in town! And as an added treat, we stopped to see the repurposed public art Roadrunner on our way back into town. It was a great way to enjoy a little movement after a big lunch!

Came here for breakfast there food was excellent. Definitely want to come back for lunch and try there barbecue and burgers. Prices or very reasonable and you can either eat indoors or outdoors and watch the planes. Very cool environment and plenty to explore if your kids or in aviation.

The owner is absolutely wonderful. The food is good. The bark on the brisket is what you look for and you get it here. The amount of sauce choices is crazy. I came to make a video for my YouTube channel and they let me film. I also got to see some planes take off from their viewing platform. So cool.

Barbecue sauces at Jim Bobs BBQ

I was getting towards hangry and stopped in at Ice Box because they have a food truck. The food truck is Jim Bobs and yes, I should know better than to have barbecue outside of Charlotte. So I avoided the pulled pork and went to the ribs. They were super busy tonight and running very slow. I don't know if short-staffed or waiting for food to cook or what but it was a solid 40 minutes of waiting. The bartender apologized and even said that they had cut off new orders so they could catch up. Y'all need to work on that. When they eventually arrived, the ribs were fantastic. Nicely cooked, firm meat, not quite fall-off-the-bone and tasty. Cole slaw was good. They also include a bucket of different sauces and I did try them all. There was a spicy red that was great but the ribs really didn't need the sauce. I'd have this again and next time, ask if the kitchen is running behind before committing. 3 meat plate
Amanda C.

Ordered a 3 meat plate with hot links, 2 servings of brisket, slaw, cornbread, and mac n cheese to-go. We waited for about an hour and 15 minutes for our food because the kitchen printer didn't print our order and they were backed up. Eventually we saw some take out orders on the counter and they were being taken to those who ordered after us. About 10-15 minutes later someone brought our order from the counter and we noticed it was with that initial group. So they let it sit there without giving it to us, and when they did there was no apology for the wait or eye contact. Just terrible customer service. When it came to the food, it was alright. When we ordered we asked if the 3 meat plate would feed 2 people and they said yes. When we opened the box we realized we needed to but more food to feel full! The hot links were good but I learned I preferred brisket slices instead of chopped brisket, which was a bit dry. Slaw was too vinegar-y. Cornbread was overbaked by several minutes and dry. Overly brown on the sides and bottom. Mac n cheese was good! We were also missing a second sauce. Not sure if they are mostly used to locals and not open to serving tourists with good hospitality...guess good customer service went out the door as soon as we crossed the state border from Texas!

Three Meat Platter at Jim Bob's BBQ out at the airport. Sliced brisket, sausage, and spareribs with sweet potato fries and onion rings.

Today I was accompanied by a couple guests on a long overdue visit to Jim Bob's BBQ out at the Las Cruces Airport. We found the restaurant to be a little larger and roomier than we anticipated. It was bright and clean and well run. The service was most pleasant and the prices very reasonable. You order at the counter and a waitress or Jim Bob himself brings the food to your table. The food prep time, order to table, was about twelve to fifteen minutes. We sampled the Magma Burger with seasoned fries with a side of brisket, the Pig Melt, a pulled pork sandwich with haystack onions in it, and a Three Meat Platter containing sliced brisket, sausage, and spareribs with onion rings and sweet potato fries. An interesting feature of Jim Bob's is that each table receives a basket of around ten BBQ sauces with a code identifying the ingredients in each. I actually sampled all the sauces and found every one of them very good. Makes for interesting dining. Regarding the food, here is how it all breaks down: While there was a bit of smoke on most of the food it was not overpowering...just nice. The brisket has a nice bark and smoke ring. The brisket we found to be real good but not exceptional. Rate it a B+. The pulled pork in the Pig Melt was excellent. Rate it an A-. The Texas Toast was a little soft on the bottom slice apparently from steam??? The Pig Melt was excellent otherwise. Rate it an A-. The Magma Burger was excellent. Rate it an A-. The seasoned fries were very good. Rate them a B to a B+. The sweet potato fries were thin and were therefore a little low on flavor. Rate them a B. The onion rings were nicely fried and had a light batter and were a bit crispy with no grease. Good onion rings. Rate them a B+. The sausage was a little different in flavor but very pleasant in taste. I enjoyed it. Rate it an A-. The St. Louis Style Spareribs...about four of them were excellent. Rate them an A-. Drinks were served from the can in a large cooler. All-in-all, we enjoyed the dining experience and the food. We will surely be back again. And Jim Bob's is only about ten minutes or so from the center of town. Rate this enjoyable dining experience around FOUR AND A HALF STARS. Good stuff!

Desayuno Perfecto!

Jim B is true New Mex genuineness and hospitality. His food is New Mex simple and GOOD! Breakfast burrito on point and ready to be sauced: Fried potatoes, eggs, bacon, chile. Chopped brisket is on point. Burger is on point. Located up on airport plateau, if you are an aviation enthusiast this is even more reason to come.

Wholly Cow Plate - 3 meat combo with pork, brisket and ribs.
Mark C.

Go out of your way to give this place a try. It is truly a hole in the wall with seating only for 32. Very rustic. Great smells as you walk in. Jim Bob is the owner and takes great pride in the meat he serves and the sauces he puts together. Order at the counter. I went with the Wholly Cow which is a 3 meat combo. You can choose from pork, brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken. I went with pork, brisket and ribs. All meat was tender and moist as well as seasoned well. The ribs came off the bone easily. As part of the plates, you get the choice of 2 sides. Sides include onion rings, vinaigrette slaw, potato salad, jalapeño baked beans, Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. Went with the slaw and beans. Jim Bob makes his own sauces and there are 10 to choose from. He uses a variety of regional influences to build his sauces. That's include Alabama White Sauce, South Carolina Mustard Sauce, and Lexington (North Carolina) Vinegar based sauce. Standard sweet and smoky as well as hot. Then he has a few surprises for you that you will have to come in to find out about. Portions were good sized and the prices were reasonable. I really enjoyed talking barbecue with the owner and the other gentleman who was working. A locally owned and operated business well worth trying, so come on down.

Really good food for a great price. Their spicy sauce collection is a great compliment to the food as well.

We had actually tried out a new place, and were gravely disappointed. Two words, "fake" "meat". So, yeah, with the nastiness of the previous place leaving us yearning for a good burger (other than those from home!), we were in the area after a long day of sports nearby, and decided to grab a couple of burgers. Again, it's not fast food. There were some disappointments, but not deal breakers... 1) The burger patty on my burger was about 2" x 3" It was pretty d TINY!! But...at least it was real meat, lol!! And THAT is what we went there for. The bun? These are homemade and usually very good. The top bun on my burger was hard as a rock. It was either stale to begin with, or microwaved after it was toasted. Not too much of a deal cus I'm low carb anyway, though I had planned on breaking my diet for what I already knew would be a tasty house made bun. So, I wasn't too put off, by having an inedible bun. As it was, the under bun was perfect, and toasted with garlic.... and I DID break my diet for this, which I ate by itself. This bread is tdf! So there's that! Since I planned on breaking my diet anyway, I went ahead and order fries. The fries were not greasy like they used to be years ago. But they didn't seem fresh either, like they were years ago. Not soggy, not bad. I'll let it pass. We don't like seasonings on our fries so we got them "naked", and they were actually pretty good that way. No salt, nothing (though I did, later on pour on some gooey cheese for some nice cheese fries). The burger itself was good. I got the mushroom swiss burger. I'm not so sure that the white goo on my burger was swiss though. I've never seen swiss melt into almost nothing like that before. Perhaps it was grated? Still, never seen gooey almost liquid swiss before. I think it was either "swiss cheese product" (white american cheese), or provolone or something. Would have been nice, like tdf if it had been real swiss cheese. The grilled onions, fresh meat, fresh bottom bun (lol) made this burger. Also, again, I appreciate that they put garnishments on the side. I just ate them straight up, including the giant leaf of lettuce. A good overall meal. So even if Voodoo disappoints in some areas, there's always a treasure somewhere, and it was an enjoyable meal. Take away from this... wish the buns weren't stale or microwaved. Wish the burger patty was a decent size, not slider sized. Wish the swiss cheese was real swiss cheese. Not even gonna say I wish prices were lower, that's a given. My burger with fries was over $15.

The burgers here are yummy! Service was quick and friendly, and I like that they've got specials…read moreduring the week for some reasonable prices. The fries are also thin and crispy, pairing well with the juicy green chile burger.

They make the burgers, fries, & onion rings to order. So it all takes time!! Be patient. The burgers have that great smash crust on them but still flavorful & juicy. It's a very basic burger. Lettuce, onion, mayo, mustard, ketchup (I think?), & cheese but no bacon! Wasn't upset about that, totally understandable, the bacon would slow things down even more. Fries, curly fries, & onion rings. Pop, water, tea, & sports drinks. All in a fridge & nothing in a fountain machine. Chips if you want them. The difference between the regular burger k the great burger is the regular burger is basically a slider. Again, still reasonable. Would definitely come back. Make sure you double check the order though. My colleague asked for no mustard & her had mustard on it but an easy fix. No issues. Also, looks like you should be able to place an order online soon. This is an old school kind of place where they take orders by hand in a notebook. Honestly, loved to see it. Something so lovely & quaint about it. Come by and check it out if you haven't.

It is a smashed burger tho I guess for the great burger you could ask them not to smash. Hot dog was also on flattop and not boiled but wish they left it to char longer. Great variety of drinks and even unique flavors like strawberry cream sodas. The taco was probably most disappointing. It was meat and potatoes but it tasted too soft/mushy. Loved that they did toast breads and even taco shells. Some was bit too long on stove. They served burger correctly.. the cheese was on bottom then meat then toppings (to prevent bun from getting soggy. Onion rings, know they are frozen but didnt care as ut was fried Perfectly.. and i mean Perfectly to where u bite and onion doesnt come off. Not at all greasy and extreme crunchy with hint of salt which was fantastic! Crispy even after 10 mins (driving back). Overall, a really cute place to go for a some honest no frill food that doesnt overcharge for sides. 3 people who worked the fryer, grill and orders. Very nice. GO try it! It actually is a hidden gem
