We set up an appointment for the following Monday afternoon. Colin arrived, got a listen to the dryer, removed some of the housing and... there were great gobs of compacted lint in the lint trap. (I clean the lint trap, but this was beyond what I could reach.) He cleaned it out, told me (when asked) how I could keep this clean myself, replaced a screw that held the trap in place (that screw was removed at installation some years back and for some reason never replaced). And he did a nice job of cleaning up the stuff he pulled out of the dryer. Problem solved. My dryer is humming along again, and I'm happy. His charges were reasonable, too, so I'm really happy.

Had a replacement on hand, pulled out the old one but found pretty severe scorcing on the board. Pulled the unit out from the wall and tested the compressor and found it to be faulty. A new circuit board would only burn out and a new compressor was taking me into the big $$$ repair range.
