We set up an appointment for the following Monday afternoon. Colin arrived, got a listen to the dryer, removed some of the housing and... there were great gobs of compacted lint in the lint trap. (I clean the lint trap, but this was beyond what I could reach.) He cleaned it out, told me (when asked) how I could keep this clean myself, replaced a screw that held the trap in place (that screw was removed at installation some years back and for some reason never replaced). And he did a nice job of cleaning up the stuff he pulled out of the dryer. Problem solved. My dryer is humming along again, and I'm happy. His charges were reasonable, too, so I'm really happy.

I do not recommend others use the services of Sun Appliance Repair. I decided to contact the…read moreservice because I wished to support local businesses. Using the company website, I requested a quote to inquire about our clothes dryer that had suddenly stopped working, although I did not receive a response within 48 hours. I then called the available phone number and received a text that I needed to text another number, all quite confusing. The person responding stated they didn't receive my inquiry so I had to text the problem. As the holiday weekend approached, I had to wait days for an available appointment. The owner visited my residence as scheduled and began to disassemble the dryer to determine the issue. My concern is he charged me $160, and the same problem reoccurred during my first use of the dryer since its service. The first $90 was for the visit and diagnosis, with $70 going toward the "repair". The response from the owner was the typical blame-the-customer dialogue for a solution he performed. Business owners should choose to do right by their customers and reject greed. The professional respect of your customers and community should be paramount and lead to word-of-mouth referrals and repeat opportunities. As a business owner, I understand the number one rule is the customer is always right. Conversely, business owners can believe they're always right and lose customers due to permanent online reviews highlighting issues that could have been quickly, and amicably resolved. Again, I strongly recommend avoiding doing business with this company as they do not value the customer and my experience appeared unethical. I wrote the owner the following message requesting fair compensation which he denied. Customer: Mr. Allen, the reality is following the diagnosis that my dryer had a defective fuse, you provided two options for enabling the dryer to function normally without the part. I asked which option was the safest most efficient repair and made a choice based on your direction. Again, you implied the dryer would work as NORMAL until AFTER we paid for the repair, then you stated to only run the dryer for 30 minutes. The repair was meant to be a stop-gap toward purchasing a new unit. Using the dryer for the first time since your work the dryer turned off after 10 min. As your repair did not provide a functional solution, I'm requesting a refund of no less than $70 with you maintaining your diagnostic fee. Think twice before inviting this company into your home…read more I scheduled an appliance inspection, and although I couldn't be there in person, my family was home while I stayed on speakerphone the entire time. From the moment the technician arrived, he seemed upset that I wasn't there. He then became irritated after learning I had previously asked another company to inspect the appliance. As a paying customer, I have every right to get a second opinion before deciding on a repair. He also questioned how I was going to pay, and when I told him I could pay with cash or card--whichever he preferred--his attitude only got worse. He became loud, rude, and unprofessional before deciding to leave without even completing the inspection. The most disappointing part was that this happened inside my home, in front of my family, including my son. If I remember correctly, his name was Brad (the technician, or possibly the owner of the company), although I can't say with complete certainty. Respect and professionalism should never be optional when you're entering someone's home. Unfortunately, that was completely missing during this visit. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.

I've had them out twice now for two different appliances. They're absolutely phenomenal…read more The dryer: Not only did they fix my presenting problem, but they threw a new lightbulb into my dryer. I didn't even ask. They just noticed it was out, and replaced it because it needed replacing. They also vacuumed out and cleaned up the inside of my dryer as part of their service (another thing a previous company did not do.) They genuinely care that your appliances are operating the best they can, and they really go the extra mile. The stove: I had another company tell me that I needed to replace pretty much every part on my stove (a whole list of 5 of these and 6 of these), and they estimated me over $500. Jim-Co didn't even need to replace the part. Their technician used some standard tools to adjust the existing valve (no replacement necessary) and identified the other part that was broken. The part was no longer available, so he explained a workaround I could use if I wanted to continue to use my antique stove. Only charged me for the service call. I absolutely love Jim-Co, because they genuinely know what they're doing. I feel like a lot of modern repair companies just replace parts indiscriminately, but at Jim-Co, they understand how a part works, and they can sometimes fix a component, which ultimately saves you money. I still can't believe someone estimated me hundreds of dollars to replace all of the valves on my stove, and Jim-Co was able to manually adjust them for the mere price of a service call. I wish I could give 100 stars. Seriously. They know how to diagnose a problem. There's no guesswork. And that ultimately saves YOU money because you're not paying to replace components unless they absolutely need replacing. I've met three technicians, and all three have been respectful. Unfortunately, that seems to be rare in the appliance repair industry as well.

There was no way I would have been able to correctly re-assemble the dryer so the cost was well worth the wait time and the service itself. 2 weeks later the dryer is doing the same thing, I call, a couple of days later he comes out again and finds that one of my thermostats is broken, he repairs it free of charge and only charges me for the part. Jim-Co is literally a mom and pop operation. You call a landline phone and chances are you get an answering machine. The message tells you when they expect to have a break in service (it could be a week or so), you leave a message and they get back to you to schedule it. For the price, quality of work, and knowing I am supporting a local business - it is well worth the extra time I have to wait.

This company was able to come out within a day or two so I gave it a shot. This is why they get 2 stars. I was told a service call was approximately $70. A tech arrived. His card said Habib. He looked under the washer and insisted it wasn't level. I politely argued. He then ran a nearly empty load. Although it banged around more than usual, it didn't walk around, so he insisted it was fine and charged me $90 for adjusting the legs and telling me the transmission is leaking and isn't worth fixing. I did my laundry on the weekend like I always do. It banged and walked around like before the service call. No change. I tried calling twice, but they haven't answered. The tech told me it's not worth putting much money into, so I don't feel much pressure to have them come back. I cant see myself calling them again for another repair anyway.

Had a replacement on hand, pulled out the old one but found pretty severe scorcing on the board. Pulled the unit out from the wall and tested the compressor and found it to be faulty. A new circuit board would only burn out and a new compressor was taking me into the big $$$ repair range. At this price point and age of the unit, both Daveand i agreed I am probably better off with a new unit. He then spent another 15 minutes offering excellent tips and points on what units I should be looking for and why. Excellent service and I will keep his info close at hand if/when any other appliances need repair.

Tony arrived on time, quickly pulled the dryer apart, identified the problem accurately and recommended a source for a replacement kit at a fraction of the cost charged by LG. He then put the dryer back together. The next day, I notified him the kit was delivered and he was back at our house within a couple of hours. He quickly repaired the dryer leaving no mess behind. Both my husband and I, fairly adept at home repairs ourselves, were extremely impressed by Tony's knowledge and efficiency. He clearly stated the cost of service upon initial inspection and I feel it was a bargain. Basically saving me the couple of hours it would have taken me to do the job myself.
