Still very active, but was at around half capacity. Took them around 45-60min to get me from seated to eating. Jim 'N Nick's BBQ is pretty much the same at each and every location. If you like there BBQ, this will not disappoint. If you have never had it before, you will find it is normal mass produced BBQ. The meat is great with sauce - but not by itself. This paticular venue in Alabaster has a great staff, clean, good parking, and always friendly to bring the family. I wish I could give it more then 3 stars, but the food at all Jim 'N Nick's BBQ restaurants is sub par IMHO. read more

I go here about every week. The food is generally very good but sometimes it can miss a bit. Tuesdays is taco night, which, the first time I went was a super great experience - brisket taco was sublime. So much so I wanted to go the next week. So I did and had the same brisket taco, it was so dry and obviously old I'd never order this again. Now I believe taco night is just a way to get rid of the old food from the weekend. Besides that thing, the brisket is generally very dependable and so is the BBQ. Love the collards (not the creamed) and the waitstaff is usually attentive. The wines suck though. Average BBQ with average prices and no wow factor. Arcane here because it was highly reviewed but found it to be a typical chain BBQ restaurant. Yes, there were some unique items offered but the flavor was lacking. The complimentary corn cheese biscuits with spread were good but I easily ate just one and did not want another. I got the Mac n cheese with pulled pork on top. Mac n cheese was okay and the pork lacked flavor. It felt like the two didn't go together. Overall, would not go here again. read more

Good Bbq restaurant chain in the area. We had ten in our party & we made a reservation. Reservations are taken for large parties. Started with sausage platter, onion rings & deviled eggs. Sausage was tasty & cooked nicely. It is served with a great pimento and cheese. Onion rings were crispy on the outside with tender onion on the inside. I did not have a deviled egg but they looked great. They also give you small cheddar muffins/biscuits that are delish. I had grilled fish with baked beans & mac and cheese. Fish was fishy tasting which I don't care for. Baked beans & mac and cheese were delicious. Other entrees at our table included ribs, brisket, & chicken strips. Eating Bar-B-Q in Alabama is a rite of passage. Fortunately we have 100's of options for good places to enjoy it. Unfortunately tonight Jim n Nicks was not one of them! To start our dinner we were seated in a half full restaurant and no server was to be found. They did manage to come gripe about were we placed the baby's pumpkin seat! Finally a guy (the same one that griped) came and announced he was going to serve us. He took drink orders and then disappeared for 20 minutes. Finally he returned. Drinks were served, order was taken and then he disappeared again. A slow moving unhappy young lady brought us the famous "cheese biscuits". They were cold and tough. I had ordered a salad with my steak...a different waitress brought a different kind of salad than I ordered and then took away the mistake. We say another 20 minutes...no drink refills in sight...no waiter in sight! Finally here comes a different waitress with the correct salad. We asked where our waiter was...she looked confused. At last dinner arrives...we ask for drink refills and some butter...another 20 minutes later they show up. Steak was over cooked...potato cold...Bar-b-q dried out. Not a stellar performance for Jim n Nicks! If they had been super busy or packed we could use that as an excuse...nope!! Staff just acted like they didn't care! read more

I always enjoy Jim 'N Nicks but today Labor Day our server Rebecca was unfortunately one of the worst we've had in years. Food was cold, which likely was more of her not getting it in time vs the kitchen putting out cold food. Asked for biscuits because she obviously forgot, no butter, asked for it and it never came. Asked for more biscuits and they never came either. She seemed so unsure of her job. Even paying the bill took forever. At the time we went, the place was not overly crowded. Won't be going back till this vanishes from my memory. Food was decent and having great device would have probably warranted another 2-3 stars. read more

Sat in the drive thru for 30 minutes, asked for extra sauce and white sauce for my wife's potato, got neither. The menu says the potato comes with sauce, so they didn't even make it right. With so many BBQ options out there, one would think they would make more of an effort to stand out. They didn't even apologize for the wait. My wife and I like good BBQ and there were times in the past that Jim and Nick's was considered to be a good if not great place to eat but, those days are now gone. It seems as though the more locations that open, the further diluted the product becomes and the Alabaster location, while it was once very close to awesome, is just another example of so-so food. Our server was way above the curve but, the food she brought out to us was not.....except for the cheese muffins but, how hard can it be to bake a muffin? The brisket plate I got was dry and grisly with very little meat on it at all, which doesn't quite cut it when you're paying $18 per plate. My wife's BBQ tater was average, with the meat that was on top being mostly dry. The only parts that weren't dry were the large portions of fat that were on it. This particular version of Jim and Nick's seems to have reached it's zenith several years ago then just started a slow descent down to BBQ mediocrity. I will not be back to find out if they can get back on top. read more

Service was lacking attention to detail. Forgot lemons for the water, left dishes in the back when bringing the food out, things of that nature. The food was average at best. There is nothing we didn't like here! The service was quick and friendly! The complimentary biscuits were warm and delicious. We all got something different. The pulled chicken, pulled pork and turkey sandwiches were all very tender and the Mac and cheese super creamy. All of the sandwich buns are grilled, warm and soft. Cole slaw was creamy and beans had a bit of a kick to them. We are going to try and return on our way back home from the beach! Oh and I also loved their crushed ice and their sweet tea! read more

This location follows the tried and true business plan that all of the other Jim 'n Nick's places in the area use, and it's a good one. I've been there several times, so I'll only comment on my latest visit. The brisket sandwich I ordered came on top of toasted sourdough bread, and there were plenty of beef brisket on the sandwich. The meat was tender, tasty, and flavorful, and the fresh cut fries were cooked just right. I still get a kick out of dipping them lightly in their habanero-spiked barbecue sauce for some wonderful delayed heat. Jamie and Brittany made this visit just so gosh darn incredible! Being from Pennsylvania but well verse in the art of southern bar- b-que having been raised on Tennessee smoked pork I can safely say that little old Alabaster, Alabama's Jim and Nick's hits the nail on the head. My party of 5 hungry tower workers were seated promptly outdoors at around 5:30ish, they were busy so it took a little bit to get out drink order which Jamie herself took care of us and having an ownership mindset comped our appetizers, which in my opinion wasn't necessary, but to my impatient coworkers was very well received. After that I was sold on the place. Unbelievable southern hospitality paired with spot on Alabama bar-b-que makes this the place to eat in Alabaster. The drive thru service is conststantly BAD. One time it took four tries to just get my drink order correct.Always check your order before you pull away! Yesterday I ordered chicken plate with sides being onion rings and baked beans. As I was driving away from the window, the server pushed a whole order of onion rings at me with six biscuits, no butter that I didn't even order. I bet the person in front of me was furious when thet got home without their onion rings and biscuits, Very ezpensive! They seem to put the less motivated person at the drive thru, because they just don't seem ro care. The actual owner needs to visit his restaurant for a while to see what is actually not going on in customer service. read more

We stopped for lunch while traveling. We were seated promptly and our server was efficient and attentive. Our food arrived hot and correctly prepared. Everything was delicious. The 3 stars reflect the fact that it took over an hour for our food to arrive. I had ordered a baked potato and was told an on-the-spot to go order had just been placed that included 20 baked potatoes and there would be a 45 minute wait if I wanted a potato. I changed my order to a sandwich. If I had known I had to wait an hour anyway, I would have stuck with the potato! I think in fairness to the dining room patrons, the manager should have told the to-go customer that orders that large need to be called in ahead. I will continue to patronize Jim n Nicks and believe this to be an isolated, unfortunate incident. read more

Not very happy with their take-out service. After an hour wait, I asked where my four pounds of chopped chicken and pork was. I had told them I was making Brunswick Stew and needed the meat chopped and inside pieces as I did not want the outside pieces with their smoked seasons to compete with my seasonings. At first they could not find my ticket, then they sent someone into the kitchen to check on it. I was told a bit before this they were working in my order, yet I saw others come and go with their to-go orders! How hard is it to grab up some meat from their bins, weigh and chop it? (Golden Rule can do this in under 15 minutes, but they were closed today!) I sure bet very easy to do this over preparing multi-parts to an order! Shortly after they went to check on my order, they can back with it. Wanna bet it was never in the quand they just did it? I was very upset as now I have been here well over an hour and could have cooked a roast by then!! And I still have to go buy the rest of the stew ingredients and make it! So they did comp me a $10 gift card (which I won't use at this location) but would rather have taken it off my current order and stuck with Golden Rule. Got home and even though I had requested inside chopped meat, it was all chunks of pulled chicken and pork. (And bones!!) Which confirms no one was taking the care to get my order correct, but instead just reached in a bin, weighed and wrapped my meat in all of one minute. Pitiful. Pitiful. Pitiful. read more
