First, let me say that Jim 'n Nick's has the best baked potato I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Somehow we managed to visit 3 times during our visit. The 3rd time was out of need because it was next to our hotel and it was raining. It is quick service. Order at register, get a number and food is delivered to your table. Before the food comes they bring out fresh cheesy corn muffins which are AMAZING! Service was very friendly. The first trip we went was late. They were out of quite a few things however service and what we had was delicious. On our 3 visits we tried: Spare ribs (delicious) Turkey (delicious) Pulled Pork (delicious) BBQ corn (it wasn't my kid's favorite because of the sauce, but my husband liked it) Mac & Cheese (had all 3 days and LOVED it) Collard Greens (my husband had all 3 visits and loved it) Pulled Chicken (was a bit dry, our least favorite) 1/2 chicken (my husband said it was the best he's had from a BBQ place, as it was not dry) Loaded Baked Potato (as big as my head and was perfectly dressed and cooked) We didn't have any desserts. After striking out with three different pizza places we needed to pick something different to eat. So we ended up here. It was kinda late so they were out of some stuff, ribs and chicken. So we made the most of it. My wife and daughter both had smoked turkey, I had had some of it and was really good. We all had macaroni and cheese and it was really good too, my daughter had corn on the cob, she didn't care for the sauce that was on it but my friend said it was very good. I had the pulled pork, it was good and so were the collards greens. The best thing was the muffins the send out to the table. Just incredible. I'm hoping to eat here again, but before they run out of ribs and chicken. Visit number two. We just had to come back but much then just before closing. This time my wife ordered the spare ribs with macaroni & cheese and a loaded baked potato. There were the ribs, she could only eat one, so I ate the other two. Wow were they good! We also shared the baked potato and that was incredible. As for me I got a half BBQ chicken with collard greens and macaroni & cheese. The two sides were just as good as they were the other day, and the chicken was unbelievably good. It was not dry and it had great flavor. This time around they had someone working in the dining room, helping the people eating in with drinks, plates, silverware or anything else you needed. She was awsome. read more

Honestly I've been here a couple of times since they opened last year. I love the smell of bbq and the taste you get from the meat there's nothing like it. The young lady at the counter was extremely patient and courteous while my husband had many questions about certain meal options. I already knew what I was getting because I've been here multiple times. My go to is the nacho platter with brisket or chicken. He opted for the bbq brisket with a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. The meals were tasty but a bit on the saltier side for us. The food is good the servers are super nice and attentive. If you go you have to try the Mac n cheese balls, they're phenomenal. unfortunately they ran out and was gonna be another 1hr for them to prepare more so it's definitely something you should try. read more

The space is nice and casual and the staff was friendly. I tried the Carolina pork and chicken. Loved the pork, chicken was relatively dried out. Greens were delicious as are the cheddar biscuits. Entering Jim N' Nicks you can just feel the newness in the air. It's clean and the staff are all consistently helping with the flow of things. The amount of people that ask the same questions though is a bit overwhelming when you're in conversation with someone else. Someone named Daniel asked us so many questions that eventually he started saying, "you guys finding everything okay?" It was funny but in a not so funny way after the 5th time. There are many positions up front and the woman even though she was nice she didn't know much about the menu. I asked her what was in their house salad she said, "It's only cheese, tomatoes, bacon and croutons." My salad also had cucumber and some sort of nut concoction that almost blended in with the bacon. If I was allergic to nuts they would've had a HUGE problem on their hands. The food is consistently good though but I'm definitely not a fan of their turkey, chili or sausage and I haven't ate the brisket separately yet. The ribs and smoked chicken are my favorite meats here but the burger, nachos (minus the crema) and smoked wings are great too. The greens, Mac and baked beans surprised me because most BBQ joints can't do sides right. Oh, and this may seem small but The lettuce for the salad was fresh and that was a major plus for me. I just tried the BBQ corn and baked potatoes and those are added to the list of likes. The corn has a major kick though so be prepared and the baked potato was perfectly cooked even though it's huge! The biggest downside is waiting in line to order. It's confusing on rather or not a tip should be left but clearly they're in a shift pool upfront. read more

However oddly, even to me, the extra-large baked potato was the best I've ever had. I stopped by for lunch during the 1st week they were open. It was busy, but service was fast and staff were very friendly. I got the Carolina Pork with Mac and cheese and potato salad. I thought the food was tasty and the portions were generous. I also tried some of the brisket and baked beans, which were also good. We ended up placing an order to go as well from the table and it was brought out to us very quickly. Overall I was very satisfied. I didn't have any issues with the ordering style (i.e., order, pay, and find a seat) and think it was well set up to serve high volumes. If you want to sit first and order, you had the option for that at the bar. At the time I'm writing this, the only other review is a 1-star review that appears to be based solely on the reviewer not liking the ordering set up. Stopped into Savannah this Sunday while traveling with my wife and decided to try Jim and Nick's BBQ as something new. Gotta say it was a great choice!! We walked in to a wonderful array of Smokey bbq smells! Being new we went simple and tried the wings both dry and with the habanero sauce. They were excellent both ways. We also had the Mac and cheese brisket bombs and they were quite delicious as well. The cost was very reasonable and they even did military and first responders discounts...always feels good to be appreciated. The staff were very nice and friendly with large smiles on their faces. They constantly checked on us while we dined without being intrusive or overbearing. The facility was commercial in design but very nice and appeared to be very clean. Impressed overall. If you're in Savannah and want some good bbq I strongly suggest going to Jim and Nicks. It is worth the trip and a return visit!! read more

I just want to start off this response in our comment with a warning to everyone. Please be careful yesterday. I went to this location for lunch and I ordered a fish sandwich with trimmings and dessert and a drink when I got home and I got ready to bite into my fish sandwich I was pleasantly stuck with a stick sticking out of my sandwich and it was the kind of stick that goes inside of a corn on the cob so I was puzzled and did not understand why that stick was in my fish sandwich. I do not believe that was an accident that was intentionally done. I'm so glad it's stuck my finger and not the roof of my mouth so be careful everyone. This is so ridiculous. read more

We've eaten lunch here twice. Extremely well staffed for a counter service restaurant. You order at the counter, they give you a stand with a number for your table, and food is delivered to you. It was fast and efficient; food was hot upon delivery. Absolutely loved the wings, the lean chopped brisket, and jalepeno sausages. Very friendly and professional staff. We love this place. If you want to be waited on at a table, this isn't for you, which is a shame because the food is fabulous! read more

We ordered Take-Out for a party. Ribs were excellent! Carolina Pulled Pork was good, although drier than I like. The Not-So-Naked Potato was good while the Chili was soupy, not thick as expected. The Onion Rings were good but salted heavily. But the Cheese Biscuits -- our favorite when we have eaten at the Pooler location, were undercooked. They were doughy. First time we haven't whipped them down as soon as we had them in our hands. So, the jury is out for us on the Savannah location of Jim 'Nick's. I was very disappointed in the new Jim n nick's that opened in Savannah. We have gone to the Bluffton and Pooler locations frequently and were looking forward to having a more convenient location. Definitely do NOT plan to return to this location This location is setup like a fast food restaurant. You stand in a single line, place your order, get a number for the table and then your food is brought to you. The dining room is large, with the order line running thru the middle of it. The waitresses have to walk around the restaurant with your food, walking thru the line of customers, who are breathing, talking over your food as the waitress walks thru looking for your number to bring your food to your table. Not a good set up. Chances are not good for those French fries being hot when they get to your table. read more

Went to the Savannah location by Oglethorpe mall for 2nd time and probably last time...1st they forgot we ordered an appetizer and alcohol and had to remind the server when she brought the muffins. my son ordered the hamburger and when it arrived we thought they forgot to add the burger but asked the server and she stated it was a 5oz smash burger even though menu said nothing about smash.. it looked more like a kids menu burger and the bacon that came with it was EXTRA crispy to the point of being burnt.. we did complain to the server and she did offer to add another patty but by then everything else would be cold .. the restaurant should basically be ashamed of serving something like that.. i had the half chicken which was good, wife had the pulled pork and she said it did not have much flavor and the baked beans were watery and tasted weird .. we had them on our first visit and they were good then, different day, different chef i guess, mom had the finger basket and said they were good, other son had brisket sandwich and said it was OK, daughter in law had loaded mac n cheese with pork and said she had better at the Pooler location. The Savannah location is basically serve yourself, you order at register, they bring you the food and thats about it, you refill your own drinks and if you can flag down one of the servers to ask them something, good luck.. only seemed to be about three of them. read more

First time coming. UTTERLY shocked at the prices for this basic mid bbq southern food I've eaten at home most of my life from my family. I went all out. got the 3 meat platter. pulled pork. pulled pork. pulled chicken. Collards. And onion rings (extra charge for ONION RINGS) and it was so insanely smokey I've been burping gross smoke flavor ALL DAY. It's so gross. the portions, for $32, were scant. one little tiny disher scoop of meat of each type on my tray. little small cup of collards. And about 6 dry onion rings. The table was wobbly and annoying and this place is less than 5 months old.. the tea was very flavorless. literally the flavor of brown water. I paid for my meal and the girl at the counter, as expected, flipped that stupid screen around and said "you're gonna see a tip option down at the bottom there.". girl all you did was take my order and hand me a cup and a number sign. that's It. I had to make my own damn drink. Ask for silverware. Nobody asked me if I was doing ok or to refille my drink. So no. You didn't WAIT on me. You don't get a damn tip. honestly this place is so ridiculous. on top of all that money I spent on this mediocre food, they expect me to tip. I'll never be back here again.
