Chicken loaded potato

I love the food and ambiance when I come here! Its close to my house and the first time I drove past and saw it was here, I had to come immediately! The staff is great and super friendly! I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family and even have ladies from my son's daycare coming here too!

Entering Jim N' Nicks you can just feel the newness in the air. It's clean and the staff are all consistently helping with the flow of things. The amount of people that ask the same questions though is a bit overwhelming when you're in conversation with someone else. Someone named Daniel asked us so many questions that eventually he started saying, "you guys finding everything okay?" It was funny but in a not so funny way after the 5th time. There are many positions up front and the woman even though she was nice she didn't know much about the menu. I asked her what was in their house salad she said, "It's only cheese, tomatoes, bacon and croutons." My salad also had cucumber and some sort of nut concoction that almost blended in with the bacon. If I was allergic to nuts they would've had a HUGE problem on their hands. The food is consistently good though but I'm definitely not a fan of their turkey, chili or sausage and I haven't ate the brisket separately yet. The ribs and smoked chicken are my favorite meats here but the burger, nachos (minus the crema) and smoked wings are great too. The greens, Mac and baked beans surprised me because most BBQ joints can't do sides right. Oh, and this may seem small but The lettuce for the salad was fresh and that was a major plus for me. I just tried the BBQ corn and baked potatoes and those are added to the list of likes. The corn has a major kick though so be prepared and the baked potato was perfectly cooked even though it's huge! The biggest downside is waiting in line to order. It's confusing on rather or not a tip should be left but clearly they're in a shift pool upfront.

The baked potatoes with the smoked brisket.... Jamming! They made my very complicated (im a picky eater) order and im very impressed!!! Most places would forget or get my order wrong but they made it just right! The barbecue sauce was super tangy and I loved it !!! Definitely a place to try in Savanah!!! Will definitely come again!!!

Don't let this scare you away... the good places are always like this!!! We walked in and were immediately greeted and sat at a high-top table. The restaurant was clean and busy. Our server was a younger guy who was in training but you would have easily assumed he was a pro. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and confident when fielding the questions we had about the menu. We ordered a Half Slab portion of their St Louis Cut Ribs platter with fries and mac-and-cheese as a side & the 1/2 Chicken platter with Brunswick Stew and mac-and-cheese as a side. Both proteins were tender and well seasoned. Both were served with a piece of buttered Texas toast. Their original and Better than Sex sauces were great additions to the flavors! The mac-and-cheese was creamy and delicious. Not my favorite Brunswick Stew but it satisfied the craving that I had.

My wife and I each ordered the 4 bone, St. Louis cut spare ribs and 2 sides. She went with Collards and Sweet Potato casserole and I also did. Collards but added potato salad as my second side. The ribs arrived looking a bit man handled but that what due to the tenderness of the meat. Using the "Better Than Sex - Original" sauce was a great compliment to the smoked meat. The meat alone was delicious without being over smoked. Paired with the sauce it was truly delicious. The collards were tasty though I do like mine cooked with some pork added. We were offered some hot sauce and should have tried a splash or two. The casserole and the potato salad were both quite tasty and were nice balanced against the collards. Service was great and I wish we lived less than a thousand miles away. Definitely give this place a try b

We tried the Smashburger special with fried Brussels sprouts tossed in a sticky Asian glaze -- and I say this as a Brussels enthusiast: some of the best I've had in my life. The pulled pork sandwich was a hit with the kids (zero leftovers = five-star review). The mac and cheese disappeared faster than I could taste it. And yes, we got the tots -- well seasoned and totally necessary. No dine-in space, but honestly? Sitting in the car with the A/C blasting, swapping bites with the kids, and not worrying about anyone spilling on a restaurant floor felt just right. It was about $57 for the full spread (plus drinks) -- not cheap, but absolutely worth it. We will definitely be back. #SlowFireBBQ #SavannahEats #SavannahFoodie #BBQLovers #SmashburgerMagic #MomLifeEats #SavannahWithKids #FoodTruckFinds #GAeats #SupportSmallBusiness #LunchInTheCar #StyrofoamAndJoy

The dining area appeared dirty and had an unpleasant odor that made us question the overall cleanliness of the establishment. When we walked in, no one greeted us or explained how ordering worked. I asked if we should just sit down and order, and the cashier, a heavy-set woman with dark hair and glasses, simply said, "Sit anywhere." A moment later, my daughter asked the same question and was told, "You order here, then sit." It would have been nice if that had been explained to me the first time. Because of the poor service and first impression, I chose not to order anything. My daughter did order, and unfortunately the food was just as disappointing. It was dry, flavorless, and not worth the price. Between the lack of customer service, poor food quality, and concerning cleanliness issues, this was not a good experience. We won't be returning.

Before our trip, one of my fraternity brothers told me that if I wanted some of the best Southern soul food in Savannah, I had to visit Mrs. Wilkes. He also warned me that there would be a long wait. Let me just say--he was absolutely right on both counts! We arrived at the restaurant and stood in line outside in the rain. We didn't get seated until 1:00 PM. Normally, I would not wait that long for a meal, but for the record, and I can't believe I'm saying this--it was worth every minute of the wait. The experience was unlike any restaurant I've ever visited. My wife and I were seated at a large table with approximately eight other people whom we had never met. Yet within minutes, it felt like we were dining with family. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with genuine Southern hospitality. The food was simply outstanding. Every traditional Southern dish you can imagine was brought to the table and passed family-style from person to person. The home-cooked flavors reminded me of the meals many of us grew up enjoying. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were just as impressive. What made the experience even more special was the sense of community. People of different backgrounds and races were dining together, sharing food, conversation, and fellowship. The staff worked together seamlessly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. While we waited in line, a gracious lady shared the history of the restaurant and the legacy of Mrs. Wilkes herself. The staff even provided umbrellas to guests who didn't have one--including me--which was a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. From the food, to the hospitality, to the rich history and unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room exceeded every expectation. If you're visiting Savannah, this is not just a meal--it's an experience. I proudly give Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room a 5 out of 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah.

The hospitality is off the charts. You need to come early at least a half hour as the line quickly grows. You sit and eat family style. The host will assign you to your table with others to fill it up. 8 to a table. There is sweet tea waiting for you and dish after dish of goodness! Then they bring out the fried chicken on platters. 21 different bowls of southern dishes- okra, rutabagas, greens, beans, corn, biscuits and corn bread.... Oh my there was a lot. You will not go hungry as the staff are near each table and bringing refills of items needed. Then when you've had your fill, they bring by peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top and/or banana pudding! They take cash or check only. They thankfully had an ATM inside. But the man at the cash register said we could leave and go to our own bank if we wanted and come back to pay!! That wouldn't happen at very many places. Southern hospitality, great food, memories- it is all here. Don't miss this place when you come to Savannah!!
