Tonight I tried the newly opened Dave's Hot Chicken. Which opened in the space Tijuana Flats previously occupied on Victory Drive. I thought the Chicken was hot and fresh and the experience was pretty Cluckin' good. If you are new to Dave's as I was let me give you the low down. They only serve Chicken tenders, chicken tender sliders, Mac n' Cheese, Fries, and milkshakes. The Tenders come in a variety of spice levels from plain all the way up to reaper. I tried the medium and hot spice levels. I found the medium to be tasty and not too hot at all. The hot level is where I think things begin to heat up with a spice level that will coat your mouth and have you breathing fire. I can't imagine how spicy the reaper level to be but if you are daring...take the challenge. The lines is not as bad as one might assume and all members of my party moved through pretty fast. They had plenty of outdoor and indoor seating available. The tables were clean but I can't say the same for the windows and bathroom. Overall, they give you a lot of good freshly cooked food with a nice spice level. I would have given five stars if the cashier would have explained the menu better and expedited the process more. Absolutely the best, most reliable fast food in Savannah... With amazing and friendly staff. I've been coming here a few times a month and am probably known as the "extra pickles" guy. I ordered a hot slider today and I think they pranked me (I'd asked about the reaper seasoning before)... It was HOT... And the one bite I took was very tasty, but holy moly. They had a replacement sammich ready for me with extra pickles and a smile. Food is excellent, service is spectacular. They also have a good signature sauce and adding honey to your tender or sandwich gives way to a new flavor dimension. I will say that I was surprised the sandwich itself seemed to be dry rubbed and heavy on the paprika-- it's good, but a different experience than what I'm used to with fried chicken sandwiches. I checked out the new location during a late night of needing to find something good to eat and it did not disappoint. I arrived around 11pm and the parking lot was heavy with traffic but the line only had about 15 people ahead of me. Between ordering and waiting to order it was about 30 minutes in and out. Unfortunately, due to it being late the shakes and slushies were not available. But the slider meal that I tried was DELICIOUS! The chicken was crispy, flavorful and moist. Been here 3 times since they've opened up and each visit has been great. Had no issues at all with the service, the people behind the counter are very nice. The chicken as you would expect is super good and full of mild/spicy flavor depending on what heat level you choose. The chicken is also very juicy and always pipping hot when brought out. Also really like the crispy crinkle cut fries that have a nice dusting on them. Then the Dave's sauce? Might be my favorite ever from a chain restaurant. With all these people loving all these chicken places that have such bland and tasteless food need to go to Dave's Chicken shack. Every time I've been there we've been able to walk in get food with great service even when the line is long. It's always fresh always delicious and they don't mess around when they say that it's hot chicken. They've got some cool artwork on the walls and whatnot at the different places. Happy Saturday to everyone! I arrived at Dave's around 10:10 this morning because I anticipated a line. Once I parked my car, there were 16 customers ahead of me. They promptly opened their doors at 10:30 to begin taking orders. The order line is very close to the front door, so a manager was standing there to not allow their ordering space to become overly saturated. The cashiers were processing orders as quickly as possible. However, I was unaware that they also sell non-alcoholic frozen drinks as well as milkshakes. Initially I was taken aback from their price structure because "their" combo only allows you to purchase 2 chicken tenders. Once I reviewed their menu, I was able to place my order at 10:46 and I received my food approximately 12 minutes later. I ordered 2 #4's (chicken tender sandwich and fries). So let's get to the part that matters the most: food taste and quality. The chicken tenders or chicken portions are significantly bigger than Zaxby's (no pun intended). Their 2 finger plate is the equivalent of a 4 tender plate at Zaxby's. I ordered the "hot" blend for mine and I picked the "mild" version for my son. When I tell you it was a flavor explosion in my mouth... OMG. The tender was flavorful, moist and had the closest flavor profile of Nashville hot chicken that I have tasted anywhere locally. The French fries are a meal into itself. They are crunchy and remind me of the old school Ore Ida fries I grew up eating as a child. In closing, the restaurant was clean and I loved the fact that I saw the servers utilizing gloves at all times. Overall if you're familiar with that portion of Victory Dr, park your vehicle carefully because the parking lot will get packed quickly.
