Championship BBQ. After a long day at the beach, we wanted some BBQ with southern sides. Wiley's was close and so good. Pulled pork plate had generous portions. Pork was tender and smoky. Great on its own but even better with their sauce! Great amount of pork on the plate. Potato salad was in my top 3! It was creamy and chunky. It had a garlic butter type taste which was Soo good. A must try. Collards were ok but needed a little more seasoning. I added the spicy BBQ sauce and they were good with that. Others had the smoked wings and the 1/4 chicken platter. Wings naked were really good. Chicken was very juicy and flavorful. Service was quick and attentive. Had a craving for some BBQ and had to check out Wiley's on Whitemarsh Island. It is located in an obscure strip mall shared with a Chevron gas Station and across the street from Publix and Walmart. Don't let this scare you away... the good places are always like this!!! We walked in and were immediately greeted and sat at a high-top table. The restaurant was clean and busy. Our server was a younger guy who was in training but you would have easily assumed he was a pro. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and confident when fielding the questions we had about the menu. We ordered a Half Slab portion of their St Louis Cut Ribs platter with fries and mac-and-cheese as a side & the 1/2 Chicken platter with Brunswick Stew and mac-and-cheese as a side. Both proteins were tender and well seasoned. Both were served with a piece of buttered Texas toast. Their original and Better than Sex sauces were great additions to the flavors! A busy Monday dinner time at Wiley's made me think we had chosen well. A cold beer to start things in the proper direction. My wife and I each ordered the 4 bone, St. Louis cut spare ribs and 2 sides. She went with Collards and Sweet Potato casserole and I also did. Collards but added potato salad as my second side. The ribs arrived looking a bit man handled but that what due to the tenderness of the meat. Using the "Better Than Sex - Original" sauce was a great compliment to the smoked meat. The meat alone was delicious without being over smoked. Paired with the sauce it was truly delicious. The collards were tasty though I do like mine cooked with some pork added. We were offered some hot sauce and should have tried a splash or two. The casserole and the potato salad were both quite tasty and were nice balanced against the collards. When you want to change it up and move from the seafood scene this is a good place to go. Staff was friendly and attentive. Plenty of seating and kept clean. They have a full bar as well. The fired pork chon special was good. The rice was delicious. The green beans seemed like they came straight from the can. The biscuit is a pillsbury bisquit. This was surprisingly very good barbecue. And we even had good service, as well. The restaurant had been recommended to us by our hotel on Tybee Island as worth a drive. So when we arranged to meet up with a (former Yelp) friend driving from South Carolina, I suggested this location as it didn't require her driving all the way to the beach -- and hoped for the best. We each got something different. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich and baked beans; she got roast chicken and potato salad; and I got St. Louis ribs and sweet potato casserole. It was all very good. They enjoyed the sauces on the table -- especially the sweet one and the smoky one. My ribs were so good, I didn't use any sauce. For dessert, there was the banana pudding, ice cream, and peach cobbler. I had the cobbler and it was just okay. My husband had the banana pudding and said it was wonderful. And our friend got to try this locally famous brand of ice cream. After eating so much seafood recently, not only was the barbecue a nice change of pace, but a very good dining experience. Fantastic BBQ! The sauces were great, most of the meats were delicious and I had the Mac n cheese and Cole slaws for a side, very good. Not a boxed Mac n cheese, but a white Mac n cheese not yellow. My husband and I shared the Wiley platter which had all the meats available with Texas toast served with it, the Brunswick soup was also delicious and came with two more slices of Texas toast. The only negative I would say was the rib was a bit tough for me, but my husband seemed to like it, so maybe it was just my bite. Overall, I liked the 3 different sauce options and appreciated the variety of meats and sides! Would come again if I'm back in Savannah!! read more

While staying on Tybee, my wife said she wanted some BBQ for lunch, so Wiley's was close and seemed to have a good selection. The restaurant was just opening for the day so it was not busy at yet. The interior is decorated with BBQ contest trophies/ plaques, memorabilia and photos. It was well lit and very clean. Service as very good and helpful. I had the sampler with pulled pork, ribs and sausage all of which were excellent. My wife had the brisket which she really liked. The sides were very good as well especially the red beans and rice. Bbq was delicious and super filling. Came with a group and got sat quickly. Place had a few tables taken already but not packed. We ordered different things, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and different sides and not one complaint. Brisket was super tender and you can add your own bbq sauce. There are 3/4 flavors and they leave the bottles in the table for you to choose. I got the sweet potato casserole and it was sweet, maybe brown sugary, but tasty. The broccoli cheese rice was delicious and tasted as such. All of us had a hard time finishing their food. Friendly staff and decent parking. Price was about $22 per person with a meal and drink. Placing an order online was quick and easy!! I went to go pick it up, and every patron (about 2-3 tables) in there just stared at us when we walked in. It's no fault of the restaurant, just quite uncomfortable. We focused on just picking up our order. Sarah at the front was friendly. We had a little discrepancy over the sauce count. We had such a large order for a party of 12, with about 6lbs of meats, and quite a few sides. The number of sauces she originally gave us was quite short, compared to the amount of food we ordered. After my cousin pointed out the picture posted behind the counter with the sauce count per pound of meat, Sarah agreed and made it right for us. Overall the food was great. Everyone in my family was happy! My favorite was the brisket, others enjoyed the burnt ends. And my two favorite sides were the fried okra and the Brunswick stew. It was my first time hearing of and trying brunswick stew and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is located on a busy highway in a strip mall plaza. Plenty of parking and clean on the inside. Just left Wiley's after a delicious dinner. We could tell that it would be good by it looking like it was pretty much all locals there and several to go orders. The only thing missing was a semi parked outside. We started with the fried pickles which were really good. Had the sampler platter with Mac and cheese and green beans for my sides. All of the various meats were cooked perfectly. The bbq sauces were all good. Super excellent and friendly service. If I lived here I would eat at Wiley's often. Run, don't walk. Everything we had here was absolutely divine. They claim to have the world's best baked beans let me tell ya, they were not lying. The Mac and cheese was flavorful and the sweet potato casserole was mouth watering. The pulled pork was juicy and the rib meat fell right off the bone. They have 3 different sauces you can add at the table; a sweeter bbq sauce, a spicier bbq sauce, and a smokey sauce. The Smokey sauce was by far our favorite. I've had Wiley's bookmarked for at least two months and thanks to my coworkers I got to taste their wings before I made my way over there. The staff was amazing, everyone from the servers to the interactive kitchen crew and the ambience definitely matched their energy. I ordered the 20 wings for $20 two orders of them and actually ended up with 50 instead of 40 but I figure they just gave me 10 on the house. I also ordered a rib and what they consider the best baked beans that I only took one bite of. I didn't like the stewed tomato and bean flavor at all, there was no sweetness and these reminded me nothing of baked beans. The rib was good and tender but paired with their spicy better than sex BBQ sauce it became amazing. I put that bbq on my wings as well and I am absolutely in love with it. I've had it 4 times in the past two months and it's one of the best bbq spots I've ever been to. The restaurant is spacious and clean. On all visits I've pretty much been one of the first people in the restaurant. The service is good. No complaints. The food is the star of the show, obviously!! The red Neck nachos are a must! I've never had anything like it but I love it! We opted to share a sampler plate to try a little bit of everything. We paid $30 for a big plate of meat. All delicious, with the brisket being my favorite. The sides are also very good. I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese along with the broccoli rice casserole. Unfortunately previous reviews of food being cold were accurate. While I understand that bbq is cooked much earlier in the day , it should still be served hot. I got the ribs that were tasty but again just luke warm which just kind of grossed me out. I am local but had only one other experience eating at Wiley's. My wife got the smoked Reuben which was more like a chicken salad sandwich, underwhelming. Service was OK. I've had better bbq at chains sadly, like Jim and Nicks. Won't be back. read more

We ended up here after my son had a meltdown at the beach and we couldn't find anywhere on Tybee that had something he wanted to eat. The food was so good that my dad and husband wanted to go back the next day (and we did)! The pickle fries were the best - way better than a typical fried pickle!
