I stopped by Jim 'N Nick's last Friday and ordered a two-meat combo to surprise my son at school with a nice lunch. When I say this was an absolute waste of money and still some of the worst barbecue I've ever had, I mean it. Honestly, I probably should've known when I saw "barbecue" spelled Bar-B-Q that we might not be on the same page about what good Southern barbecue is supposed to taste like. I ordered the chicken and sliced beef brisket, and neither meat delivered. The chicken didn't even look barbecued. It looked and tasted like a plain chicken breast that had been chopped up and served dry, with none of the smoke, char, moisture, or depth I expect from barbecue. The sliced brisket was equally disappointing. It arrived dry and grey, without that juicy tenderness, rendered fat, smoky bark, or rich beef flavor that makes brisket worth ordering in the first place. And honestly, I've had frozen brisket from Costco with better flavor and texture than this. Maybe they should start grabbing that and serving it instead. A restaurant with Bar-B-Q in the name simply should not be losing a brisket battle to something I can pull out of my freezer at home. And then there was the barbecue sauce. This might have been the biggest miss for me. It was extremely watery and completely lacked the smoky flavor and richness I want from a barbecue sauce. A good sauce should complement the smoke and seasoning already developed in the meat. This one didn't add anything enjoyable to the plate. The potato salad actually wasn't too bad. I probably would've enjoyed it more alongside a barbecue sauce I actually liked. The cheddar muffins were easily the best thing I tasted and probably the only item from this meal I'd willingly order again. I also ordered mac and cheese, but I never tasted it. Considering my opinion of everything else on the plate, that was probably for the best because I may have ended up having something else to add to this review. Visually, at least, it looked more promising than the rest of the meal. For me, authentic Southern barbecue should bring smoke, seasoning, moisture, tenderness, and layers of flavor before you ever reach for the sauce. The sauce should enhance great barbecue, not be responsible for creating all of its flavor. Unfortunately, I found none of that here. If you prefer very mild barbecue without much smoke or seasoning, this may be more suited to your palate. But if you're looking for the bold, smoky, deeply seasoned barbecue I expect when eating BBQ in the South, I absolutely would not recommend this as a representation of it. Super sweet staff albeit a bit understaffed. Ribs were great. The smoked chicken wings were phenomenal. The adult beverages were a bit underwhelming. I felt like we feasted for $100. I was craving some BBQ recently and decided to try our Jim N Nicks for the first time. There are so many different ways to grill and prep barbecue, I'm always eager to try new places. Jim N Nicks has a very 'chainish' vibe to it, but that doesn't equal bad bbq! I read the reviews online and figured it was worth a go. I'm glad I did. When it comes to bbq in our house, brisket is usually a go-to as my partner doesn't eat pork and bbq chicken is good but, let's be for real lol. Brisket is where it's at. And we all know that brisket isn't cheap! We decided to go with their brisket family meal that includes 3 sides, bread and enough meat to feed 3-4 people. Now, I've ordered something similar from another local bbq spot and I was SO disappointed in the portions. Idk if they meant 3 children and 1 adult lol, but I was nervous trying it again at another restaurant. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when our food arrived and there was an incredible helping of brisket inside. The pictures don't do it justice, we had about 12 thick slabs of beef in that bad boy! It was perfectly smoked and flavorful, absolutely delicious. For sides we got greens, mac & cheese and coleslaw. Unfortunately, so many of their sides are made with pork (greens, baked beans, etc) so my bf doesn't always indulge, but I sure did. The coleslaw was delicious! Visually it was a looker, seasoned, colorful, delish. The greens were good but it was almost too much meat (I'm probably the only person complaining about that lol), and they weren't my mama's but they were tasty. The mac was perfectly prepared BUT it was a white cheese sauce base which isn't my personal fave, but that's on me. We opted for the cheesy biscuits and they were so moist, and there were so many! The 5 stars was for the burnt ends. I was greeted at the door again at pickup for to go orders, Pickup was easy. (1) ordered the trio with onions rings wings and nachos, the nachos has few chips and my cheese was watery, (2) pork belly burnt ends was the best of the whole purchase, I only got 4 pieces but the was awesome. (3) classic rib plate dry 2 sides mac n cheese with baked bean which was not good lots of onions and little beans. (4) brisket mac n cheese bombs very disappointing no brisket not even a hint of brisket just fried mac n cheese balls. (5)Pimento smash burger with added onions and pickles with BBQ corn the burger was dry as Atlanta heat. We only come to see Ms.D she is a staple here for us and she remembers my daughter when she was a little newborn ( now 6). Just feels good to know employees care about their customers. When I think of quality bbq, I think of Jim n Nicks. Unfortunately this restaurant in Smyrna falls short. Hostess was nice and our server was nice. Wanted a particular draft beer and they were out. Wanted onion rings as a side. They were out. Baked potato? They were out. This is a Friday night at 8pm. The food was mediocre. My kid got the ribs and they were chewy, too spicy, and still stuck on the bone. My 2 meat combo was fine. Giant piece of cartilage in my pulled chicken though. This will probably be my last time going there. It's just not worth the money. Too expensive for these issues. read more

I've only eaten inside once, years ago so I can't speak to the service. I do frequent the drive through during lunch because of its convenience. JnN is what you'd expect from a chain bbq place, I'd put them ahead of Shane's rib shack (another chain). The ribs are decent if you're in a pinch and need ribs but they wouldn't be my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice. I mostly get their smoked wings. They're a good size and the sauces are good. Even the blue cheese is good. Their sides are ok, not great or bad. If I get one, I usually get collard greens or Mac and cheese. One of the best things at JnN is their cheddar biscuits, which are kind of sweet. Overall, it's an affordable place for a mediocre bbq meal. read more

My experience with as warm and comforting as the food is indeed comfort food . The taste of the ribs and sides were top notch! The server was friendly and we even share a name! I ordered through UberEats, so I cant specify the vibe of the restaurant, but I will go in person one day. I got the Two Meat Platter, which comes with two meats and two sides of your choice, plus two cheese biscuits, and the meats I chose were Chicken and Turkey. My sides were Mac and Collards, but I also ordered baked beans to try. So, for a quick rating: 1. Chicken & Turkey: The chicken and turkey didnt come sauced, the sauce automatically came on the side. I wasn't hyped about it because of that. But the meat was juicy! it was not dry. I just wish it had more of a smokey flavor. My uncle makes the best turkey and chicken, so I be expecting more. 2. The sides: The Mac and Cheese was good, no complaint. Wasnt dry and wasnt bland! The Collards were also good, no complaint. The baked beans were good as well no complaint (but im not a baked beans girl, I just wanted to try them for if I refer somebody here one day I know what stuff taste like). 3. The Cheese Biscuits: They were good, but they are not Red Lobster's of course. 4. Brisket Mac & Cheese Bombs: The fried balls in the picture are what these are. They were pretty good! I've only had their Christmas to go smoked turkey prior to this dine-in visit and man, it was good. We came here on the coldest day of the year, so as expected, it was a slow night. Our server was very efficient and was able to knowledgeably recommend some menu items. I ordered baby back ribs, which come with two sides. I opted for collards and corn on the cob. I visited this location on Monday, December 28th for dinner, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. First, I sat at my table for 10 minutes without being greeted by any server. When the young lady finally arrived, her demeanor was extremely casual and unprofessional--almost as if she were at home rather than at work. Since I've been to this restaurant before, I knew exactly what I wanted: the half chicken dinner and, most importantly, the muffins, which I emphasized were the main reason for my visit. About seven minutes later, the server returned with the muffins, but they were cold tasted straight out of the cooler. I flagged her down and explained the issue, asking for a replacement and how long it would take since I wanted them before my meal. Her response was dismissive: "What do you mean how long? I don't know." A better answer would have been something like, "I'll check and get them to you as soon as possible." Instead, she said, "It'll probably be a minute." When I expressed frustration, she added, "It will take some time." Ten minutes later, she returned with bad news--they were out of chicken. At that point, I simply said oaky and left. This is not my first time experiencing poor service at this location, and I blame myself for returning. The constant turnover of managers and staff seems to be the root cause of these ongoing issues. There is definitely enough parking and in the summer it looks like a nice outdoor seating area is available. They bring you these tasty little cheese biscuits with butter to start - a nice touch. We ordered the Carolina chopped pork sandwich with fries and 12 ct smoked wings with slaw. So the chopped sandwich was generally ok - it tasted as if It was likely in a container in the kitchen warmer submerged in sauce ready for immediate prep for a sandwich- being a lover of chopped BBQ Sandwiches it just wasn't to my taste , the slaw was delicious - I'm not totally sure it was a Carolina BBQ but all in all it was ok - suitable for a chain restaurant. The wings on the other hand arrived with several burned and all of them quite dry. When I asked our server if they were supposed to look like that he said not really - but he was not the person that brought them out ... so I sent them back after eating one - a bit disappointed- the manager stopped by apologized etc - took them off the ticket - all the usual apologies. Will I go back ? Probably not even tho it's really close to the house. It just felt like a chain - and very mediocre. I go when I'm on the Westside, as we don't really have any in the city. The food is usually fresh and good. The servers are always nice and I usually don't have to wait. It's never empty, but also not packed. Very chill and laid back. The drive-thru is a nightmare though. I got the 3 meats meal. Brisket was amazing! Fish was crispy and fresh. Sides were good. Didn't care for the ribs. I think the baby backs would've been better. That bread!!!! My gawd!!! It's just so good! Definitely a must try if you're in Cobb. read more

Jim N Nicks is dog friendly on the patio. The bbq is delicious. There are 2 turkey sandwiches and this one is the one with the white sauce. It's more like a aioli than an Italian white sauce. The other turkey sandwich is the signature, I'll be trying that next time. There are lots of options for sides and the ones we picked were delicious. My guest enjoyed the cheesy muffins very much. I told that the employee at the check in stand I was going to sit on the patio. After 10 minutes no one had come out to bring a menu or get my drink order. The place was not overly busy. I then went back in and asked a different employee at check to being a menu and send someone to take my order. I waited an additional 10 minutes and no one came to help me. I went back in and told the two check employees that no one had come out yet. She said "it'll be a few minutes." I asked to speak to the manager and the employee went to talk to someone for a few minutes. I went up and interrupted and told the manager what had happened. She just said I'll send someone out. At this point, I had no confidence they would send anyone. I said no, I'll go elsewhere. She said "I completely understand. Thank you for letting me know." This place is hit or miss. If you arrived in the afternoon the food is generally well prepared; however, that evening crew sucks. Visited on 3/17/25 @ 5:05 pm order # 70034 and ordered the brisket plate through the drive through. When I received order my collard greens and Mac & cheese fell through the bag because whomever packaged my food overfilled the collard greens causing it to spill over and soak bag. They had to repackage my meal. That should have been my warning sign. When I got home the biscuits were half cooked and I couldn't even eat the brisket because it was half raw. They did not cook food long enough. I called the store immediately and the so called manager said I could bring it back for a refund. Explained to her that I did not live near and I couldn't get back that day. She took my name and contact information and said she would have the general manager issue me a gift card to my email address. We will see what happens.
