Very disappointed in our meal last night. $45 dollars for what was supposed to be scallops with risotto but was mostly risotto with three small scallops. At that price and in line with other restaurants I expected more scallops or larger ones. We came here with a group of 12 to celebrate a 60th birthday, and overall the dinner experience was great. The food was excellent, the drinks were on point, and our waitress did an awesome job handling such a large party. She stayed on top of everything and made sure we were taken care of all night. After dinner, we decided to check out the speakeasy through the freezer door--Eleanor's--and unfortunately, that's where the experience took a turn. The atmosphere itself was nice--semi-dark with a cool concept--but it could definitely lean more into a darker, more immersive speakeasy vibe. The bigger issue, though, was the service. It was night and day compared to upstairs. The waitress came across as rude and unwelcoming from the start. A few of us sat down in a small corner area with an L-shaped bench and some extra chairs we had to pull over ourselves. Obviously, with 12 people, there was no way we were all fitting there, yet she insisted she wouldn't take any drink orders until everyone was seated. That made no sense, especially since there was standing room and even a bar-height table available. To make matters worse, there was zero acknowledgment of the birthday--not even a simple "happy birthday," which felt like a missed opportunity given the occasion. When we asked about Fireball shots, the response was a blunt "um, no," followed by "you can have water," as she started filling glasses. That pretty much summed up the vibe we got. Not sure if this is typical service down there or just an off night, but it was enough to make us decide we wouldn't come back to the speakeasy. Bottom line: If you're in the area, definitely check out Muss & Turner's for dinner--it's worth it. But I'd skip Eleanor's and save your time and money. read more

So there's a lot of love about this establishment. There's a nice secretive entrance to the speakeasy and you get all types of cocktails and they were really good form old fashions to cocktails. I do appreciate the customer service our waitress was so attentive and knowledgeable. The food is pretty good too. I will say that I got the burger and fries and the fries were slightly overcooked, but I gave that a pass because the duck fried rice was excellent so overall I definitely will recommend this place. read more

We ate here tonight and was very disappointed. I ordered a Coke and the waitress failed to tell me that it only came in a can ($2.50) with no free refills. Then I ordered my sandwich with a side salad instead of fries. I asked what dressing they had. They offered up some varieties and I end up going with a Russian dressing. What the waitress again did not tell me was that they were going to charge me $1.50 for a thimble full of dressing. The side salad was literally four pieces of lettuce with nothing else on it. In addition, a pickle came with the meal and I went with the pickled tomato. Did not get it and had to ask for it and when it came out, it was a little bit bigger than a cherry tomato and was only half of the tomato. Thoroughly disappointed. Gotta check out Eleanor's bar (the speakeasy in the back)! It's such a FUN, cozy experience, rooted in a rich family story/ legacy. I'd love to go back. We went on a Sunday evening, in which they did a special Indian menu (we were told the chef had trained with authentic). Nonetheless, we ordered from the regular menu (and our boring selves each ordered the same item), so we didn't get to test out too much variation on the menu. We ordered the Funky Chicken: one of us grilled and one fried. It was delish. We were jokingly told that their Whiskey-Sour esque drink, The Brown Thrasher single-handedly keeps them in business-- that's how delicious and popular it is. Didn't stay. Got caught by the coffee cup police who challenged me for bringing a cup inside the restaurant- it was such a challenge after a long long day. I met with the hostess at the stand and she proceeded to seat me but then there was a woman who snuck up from behind her and interrupted our conversation. The woman who I will name as Karin approached me in a very rude manor as I was plotting my seat selection. While she may have been in her right duties to inquire about my cup, the way she did it was rude and quite nasty. She blamed her approach on previous guest who have came in sneaking alcohol out of the building or better yet, sneaking beverages inside. It was publicly humiliating. The impact affected me staying and consuming any food with that type of energy aimed towards me. No manager came to inquire about what happened. So, I took care of my peace by walking out. I won't tolerate my self care with nonsense or disrespect. There are ways to convey messages to patrons or customers in a way that is not personal. read more

Really happy with the additions for the menu with Eleanor's. They finally listened and added some nice cocktails with tequila!! Service was excellent. There was a great female bartender when I went and she hooked up the drinks really nice. Also the fries were really good, she has an awesome recommendation for the "garlic mud" dipping sauce for the fries. This review is mostly for the speakeasy and less so Muss & Turner's. The three of us had a fantastic dining experience on Saturday evening. We took a non traditional path to dinner by ordering all tapas and shareable accompanied by a couple of glasses of wine. Our server Micky was spot in for our needs... not too hovering but not absent. We would definitely return. This is a solid spot if you're looking for good deli food. And pickle fans rejoice: you get several types to choose from with each meal. I really loved the stuffed bell pepper entree. Everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches. The French fries and dipping sauces are excellent, as was the giant cookie we shared at the end of the meal. This would be a good spot if you wanted a solid sandwich. They have some good options. But they have a plethora of other things to pick from as well so don't think that you're limited. Starting off, they have free parking in the shopping area that it's in so you don't have to worry about looking for parking. It could get busy though so don't make it seem like it'll be abundant parking. Because there are a lot of places here. The front part of the house is a very well-lit restaurant area. It's right in the front of the building so you can have the glass windows that are facing the parking lot. They have a little deli spot as well so it's a normal type of establishment. You go in the back, and then you have eleanors. Eleanor's is a hidden bar or a speakeasy style situation that has a dark and jewelry vibe of an old school s establishment. There's bottles of liquor everywhere, pictures all over the place, it's very woody and rustic. But it does have a really pleasant charm to it. They had the same menu in the front as they do in the back so you're not penalized if you sit one place versus another. There's music playing in the background so there will be a little bit of obvious, but don't expect any TVs or anything like that. Also the spot will get filled really quick because it's not a whole lot of space back there. So the last time I went I went at around 5:00 or 5:30 p.m.. there were maybe three people at the tables but the bar was just about full. Another half hour, and people were falling in so you got to time it right? Or you may not have a seat. There were plenty who came in and left right back out because there was no area or place to sit. Chili cheese fries - the fries were really good and very crispy to perfection. You can tell they are house made. The chili and the cheese take it to another level thought. The cheese is tangy yet subtle. The chili is very meaty and filling (it has beans in it btw). You may find chunks of meat in the chili so that's a good surprise. El's wings - the wings were very good and meaty. They had a very Mediterranean feel to them because of the seasoning. They came with tzatiki sauce so you got a bite of refreshing flavor if you decided to dip them. S/n ...they garlic mud was good ..I tried it on the fries and the wings. The burger - The burger was solid. Now it's not a flashy Burger by any means, it's going to be a plain burger with cheese on it, but if you don't mind not having a bells and whistles this burger, maybe a good contender. Contender. It's not super big but the bread is very nice and soft, and the burger patty is cooked very well. Again, it's nothing with a lot of flash and bang. Just a solid Burger. And I would get it again. Brown thrasher - this is their take on something similar to an old fashioned. It was pretty good, a little bit more on the sweeter side but it was still pretty good. If I lived on this side of town I would probably be going here often. It seems like it's a really good spot for right after work, and it does get full so just keep that in mind. Do yourself a favor and dine here as soon as possible. You genuinely cannot go wrong, everything is just sublime. We started with the pickle plate, which was ridiculous. Great vibe. We wanted a speakeasy for a bday celebration and we got one! We loved the secret entrance through the freezer door! The decor and atmosphere were very chill yet electric. My husband had the Hanger steak and I enjoyed the "Corn Palace," which is a light corn salad with pickled Vidalia onions and dressing served on a bed of arugula! There is also a goat cheese cheesecake. That's right you heard me... delicious and not too gamey. The dress code? There was no dress code. Patrons were dressed neat and clean, some business casual, others jeans and shirt but neat and clean nevertheless. I went there today , October 15th, with my peers from work. We got there promptly as it opened. We were met by the waitress who took out drink orders and that's as good as it gets. It took literally forever to get our food. We got there at 11:30am when it opened and didn't get our food until 12:20pm. Mind you , most of our orders were of the French fries variety. Needless to say, once we left , we stood in a huddle , looked at each other and said "we are never going back there". Walking by here you easily can smell the food and it makes it worth it, even though from the outside it doesn't look like a whole lot. I think this place is the perfect place for dinner and then drinks, seeing how they have a speak easy hidden in the back. Went to the bar with friends tonight - Eleanor's. Was pleased to see newer cocktails on the menu besides the ones they've had for years. Our bartender was new and super nice and friendly. However, the other male bartender working just looked and seemed like he hated all customers and his life. He stomped around the whole evening, aggressively moving things off the bar and just giving off bad vibes. It's a bummer when you have someone friendly behind the bar, and the other bartender is a total 180. He was so angry at the world & his customers, and the environment he was creating felt hostile and rude. It was clearly not "just a bad night" for this guy - he was just not friendly and really didn't seem to enjoy being in the service industry. read more

Was a good meal. I lost some of the other photos. The drink was the cheshire's charm. Really good, hibiscus vodka, guava, lime juice and soda. The cesar was really good, it had the perfect amount of dressing, it could have used a little more parmesan cheese. I went with the market fish (monk). It was served on top of succotash, okra and tomatoes. The veggie mixture was the most tasty, the fish was a little over done. Once we finished our meal we went to the speakeasy for another couple of drinks. That was outstanding, the service really stood out and was on a different level. Came here for dinner with my sister for a Thursday evening. First, the service here is a 10/10. Everyone from the hostess that greeted us at the door, to the server that went above and beyond educating us about the menu and making a not so good food situation better just by having a good attitude. She was patient, kind and professional. The manager even came around the restaurant clearing dishes helping and checking on us. The food was a 7/10- very versatile, vegan friendly options and lots of dairy alternatives which we loved. The flavor was great for the items I ate and my sister loved her wild mushroom stroganoff. The layout was casual and clean, dimly lit, concrete floors (so not ideal for heels without solid grips), and on the cooler side- temperature wise with an open kitchen anyone can see into. Great for friends, family or a work lunch. Cool surprise though just before we left, the back door looks like a door to a walk-in commercial freezer but it's actually a hallway to a chic little speakeasy with intimate seating, a full bar and a private event room. It's a sister business called Eleanor's Speakeasy. Lots of free parking but get there early, it packs out quickly. Definitely a place I'll plan a girls night out to in the future for a try. read more

Nice environment/decor and super cute hidden "speak easy" room in the back.. Waitress seemed a bit "lost" when we ordered. Everything that I asked for was met with a confused look and an even more confused, unsure response of "ok?" I don't know if the waitress was clueless, or what, but it seemed that when my male companion asked for things, it was a given and there was no confusion. That's fine, it'll be in your tip. Highly annoying! Ordered the pork sandwich and requested everything on the side, not together, but everything on the side because I was skeptical having greens on my sandwich. The waitress asked, "the cheese too," (seriously?) to which I responded, "no, please put meat and cheese on the sandwich and everything else on the side." What do I get, bread with cheese that looked like it had been melted the other day, and had been sitting even longer. I then receive the greens AND meat all mixed up with stems and all, which is NOT what I asked for. When the waitress comes back, I reiterated what I asked for and she just looked at me, I think she said "mmmm" and proceeded to walk away, WTF? Pork loin was actually good, but infused with greens stalks was not! Waitresses not following directions, looking at me like I'm crazy with every request (not for my male companion though) and ignoring me when I bring it to her attention is not all all acceptable customer service. This review is for the Easter Brunch ONLY! A lot to unpack but I'll try to keep it short. The service was just okay. I was disappointed in our seating. I think on a sunny Easter Day I wouldn't recommend being seated in the Speakeasy. Speakeasy's are simply a whole other vibe and to me specifically for those who drink literally the traditional definition. It is too dark and it was frustrating to be so far away from the buffet and whole restaurant. With that said, I don't think they accommodate parties of two well for these type of events. It's best for groups. So in terms of the ambience I would say I didn't like it for the type of event offered. The food was okay. I think I'd rather have 5 delicious memorable options than a lot of "it's okay" options. I liked the shrimp n grits the most. The eggs were too wet for me and the French toast honestly could've stayed in the kitchen. The bacon wasn't good...how do you not have good bacon? They ran out of balsamic vinaigrette for the garden salad and I our server said "they only made enough for brunch, so if it's not any out then we don't have it" fast forward to my mom bringing me some because she asked the people in the kitchen. Okay we can at least check before saying no and especially when it's only noon, Event was 10-3pm love. Server was not really on top of coffee/water refills and the coffee was not hot. They do mostly cook with dairy and pork, so if you don't eat that then it may not be the brunch for you. I'm overall sad I had this experience because we love them, but I have to be honest so it can improve in the future. Cute concept of restaurant with speakeasy (Eleanor's). The assortment of dipping sauces was truly impressive and the "adult Mac and cheese" was good but I wouldn't call it my favorite. My first cocktail (pictured below) was nice but not my favorite, but the second cocktail (brown thrasher - not pictured) was AWESOME. It was bourbon based and I don't even like bourbon but the bartender assured me I couldn't taste it and she was right! I wish the speakeasy portion felt a bit more "exclusive" in the sense it served all the same food and drinks which I can understand from a logistical point of view but it didn't make the speakeasy feel special or different per se. read more

This place was fantastic!! Maria took care of us and she was extremely informative. Walked me through each part of the menu and told me her favorite dish from each section. If you like spice, try the Brussels sprouts! It was a texture and flavor haven! Thinly sliced Granny Smith apples and cashew nuts provided an amazing flavor combo for the spice of the dish. Maria went above and beyond to bring me a sample of the gumbo and I'm so glad she did because it was spectacular. My boyfriend's burger was superb and cooked to perfection. Another girls lunch and of course they invited me for the laughs. Time flew and the food was excellent at M&T. It helps to grab a reservation here because it fills up during the lunch scene. That means they're doing things right, like the selection and the service. Two of us (not me) ordered salads and one got Mac and cheese. Those all looked good, but I was envisioning Swifty's Dream. The pulled pork was top-notch with complementing M&S sauce and horseradish. And bonus you get a pickle. Who wouldn't want to move in here? Only decision is which pickle? I have no idea; the house special? It was crunchy. No I didn't have room for "lunch dessert". But normally that would be goat cheese cheesecake or key lime pie. He had the biggest attitude when we asked him for some ranch for my daughter's chicken strips. No! he said, with the big disgusting look on his face. There was no apologetic tone or not even a helpful suggestion of a substitute. He spoke in a very condescending manner as he walked off. He needs to stay in the back office and not customer facing. He was very rude and should not interact with any customers. The food was excellent as always, especially our burgers. First time trying the grits and they were creamy & delicious. My friend and I visited for brunch, and it was our first time. Overall, it wasn't an experience we'd repeat, but it wasn't terrible. Our server took some time getting to us. It wasn't crowded so we were confused why taking a drink order took so long. Our orders were correct but we never received refills on our water and both of our glasses were empty before we ordered dessert. The only positive on the experience was them not charging me for my cocktail because they couldn't prepare the one I ordered and offered a free replacement. Our meals were lukewarm when they arrived which was surprising because there was a very long wait for them. Our food tasted fine, but because it was lukewarm when it arrived, it got cold very quickly. Our meals had the stiffness to them that let us know they had been sitting for several minutes before being delivered to us. Also, to charge $17 for a sandwich and only provide a slice of jalapeno and carrot to accompany it is soooo rude I had to laugh about it. I've been to this place a number of times and I want to start by saying the service is always really great. My server today couldn't have been more thorough explaining things making me aware of specials alerting me and ask you concerns about any allergies I may have due to one of the specials and so on I ordered The cheeseburger and a side of french fries and then I got various desserts. The cheeseburger was smaller than a hockey puck and more meatball shape the burger shape I would say that the bun was half size bigger than the burger burger only took up half of the bun so essentially to give you an idea The fries were fine. They were not hot when they came out but again that's nothing. It is what it is. The desserts are always a home run, but the quality control seems to slowly go downhill as far as food. Every time I come I used to rave about this place and I will continue to go back and give them opportunities, but with the number of amazing places for lunch in this price point they should really start to keep a closer eye on things read more
