Half rack of ribs with baked beans and Mac and cheese.
    Toya S.

Long story short, I had better. And I had this chain before, I'm not sure what happened, maybe it was the wrong time. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs with 2 trimmings. Service was slow but I wasn't bothered by it. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful evening. On to the food; the ribs were not fall off the bone like I'm used to. The ribs were also too fatty for my liking. My initial thought was to order the baked potato and I really wished I did. Will I eat at Jim n Nicks again, probably. Will I order the ribs again, probably not. Follow your gut on this one.

Was in town for match competition. Plenty of fast food places but decided to try this BBQ restaurant. Ordered the BBQ with side of Greens(which didn't taste cooked enough and needed some vinegar and were bitter)Mac N Cheese. Received order then have to ask for sauce separately which took time to get. Overall the meet didn't have any smoky flavor even though they use wood or at least it's shown as enter. Had huge piece of fat that made me loose my appetite trying to separate it from the meat. More QC when chopping it up to avoid such obvious inedible fat pieces. Left with feeling that once and done and don't plan to return. Could have had a better meal at Panera Bread for 1/2 the price.

Half rack baby back ribs w/ bbq beams and french fries

Without a doubt some worst bbq south of the Mason-Dixon line. The baby back ribs were so tough I had to saw through the caramelized bbq sauce with a serrated survival knife l carried. Nothing like tying to eat ribs with bbq'd membrane still attached. The ribs were so bad they had a distinct taste of pork just before it goes bad and becomes inedible. The good news; the french fries were good but then again so are McDonalds...

Outsize: For the road it looks like a clean BBQ joint with plenty of parking, a patio and easy to get to. Inside: once we got in the first thing we noticed was the friendly staff, like chick fil a standards friendly. Anyways, the restaurant has plenty of seating with 4 person tables that can support large groups easily. Very family friendly and the patio has a dog water bowl! Paper menu with ice cream flavors on the window. Staff event opened an extra register to help with the crowd size. Food: this is where they shine even brighter. The staff answered questions, asked about food allergies, and where helpful. I got the sampler platers (best way to see what is good) and was I surprised! The smoked wings might be the best thing there. Really these are amazing and I don't really eat wings. The brisket was my favorite, so much smoke flavor, tender with a nice smoke ring and so flavorful. The ribs were perfect, competition style with great bark, and fantastic pull, with a sprinkle of brown sugar on top to serenade your taste buds. Finally the bbq pork was delicious, sadly outshined by the others but it was good enough you don't need sauce for it. Speaking of sauces, original sauce was tomato with a tiny bit of sweet, the spicy was same just a bit of heat added, and the Carolina was the big winner here, tangy and sweet, had to grab a bottle on the way out. I'll end by saying m THIS is what a restaurant was before 2020; a place you what to keep coming back to, clean with friendly staff (they refilled out glasses 5 times with a smile EVERY time), and food you can't easily make at home (It's like most restaurants just cook from cans and bags these days) or buy at Kroger. Do stop here if you're in the area, we will be returning here even though it's a 45 min drive one way.

Convenient parking, very friendly staff. We were seated right away while at the same time another waiter got started with our drinks. It's a very homie, relaxed ambiance with a couple of TVs playing sports. Now to the best part. We shared a Rib Plate and a Pulled Pork Plate with a side of Mac & Cheese, Cole Slaw and Corn Bread. They are not lying when they say the ribs are fall-of-the-bone and seasoned to perfection ribs. 110% recommended. After we got all our orders, a staff member stopped by our table to ask if everything was good. I loved that. He then asked if we were trying their famous pie? We said no. He emphasized we must try it. So we did. WOW! It was gone in the blink of an eye. We had it with shrimp and totally recommend it. Everything was delicious and priced fairly. It was our first time in the area. I hope to be back soon. I apologize for the pictures. It was so good I forgot to take pictures before eating.

I did finally spot the smoker going outside, and saw the entrance obscured behind some trees. It is actually inside or what looks like an old dining hall or gym. The catfish I ordered was fried fresh and came out hot. The sides were lackluster IMO, with them not being bad, just nothing I would write home about. Greens did not have meat or flavor, outside of a hint of onion. Mac and cheese was baked and peppery, but just missing the rich cheesiness and gave buttered noodle vibes. There was an extra charge to have it packaged to-go, and a modest credit card convenience fee if you don't have cash. There appeared to be plenty of parking, although the designated areas for this restaurant wasn't clearly marked. Since the fish was good and I want to support a local black owned business, would probably come back and try the BBQ with either potato salad or just fries as a side. $2.50 for the red kool aid gets 5 stars
