We're glad the Lost Texan can now be found in Townsend, Tennessee.

"Try the fish." I was skeptical. Super skeptical. I mean, who goes to a BBQ joint for the fish? The waitress was quite adamant, "The fish is delicious". Am I really gonna be "that guy" and get fish at a BBQ place? Wow. It was delicious. The breading has a kick to it without being overpowering. The filet was delicate and flavorful. It wasn't greasy or overcooked -- it was perfect. Sure, the Cowboy beans, burnt ends, fried green tomatoes, and pulled pork are great, too. They have been favorites since JimBob opened up. But now, I'm officially "that guy" who gets fish at a BBQ place.

Came on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, they only had 1 waitress, so the kitchen folks needed to come out and fill in between orders. The salad bar was closed and there was no bread. Wish there was even cornbread or garlic bread for sale. Due to the shortage in staff, we waited 10 minutes to order drinks. Several parties were seated after and 1 received their food before us, so we were salivating. As for dinner, we ordered a veggie plate, a pork sandwich, burnt ends dinner and kids Mac 'n cheese. The food that came with the meals were: -corn nuggets, which were nice and hot; -cowboy beans, which were good, -okra, which was warm enough, yet no seasoning added; -Mac 'n cheese, which was pretty good, yet tasted like it was boxed; -pork sandwich was good; -beef burnt ends, not warm enough (thinking it was plated 1st?) -fries were good. Overall, the food was pretty good. Wish the service was a little better though, as our server was somewhat snarky (probably from the stress). Would I recommend? Yes, but be forewarned it costs extra for the okra and corn nuggets, which I didn't know until I got the ticket.

    Amazing sauces

I had a a late lunch one afternoon as I always in this area doing business the barbecue overall I would give four stars service I would give five stars all the way the young lady that waited on me was absolutely outstanding. I cannot remember her name I just know that she is from Sevierville and we drive over daily to do her job which she was excellent at overall would recommend this place to anyone that was looking for good barbecue with great service. I really enjoyed the spicy and hot barbecue sauces. Apple pie barbecue sauce was a must try also.

Ordered takeout ribs and they were overcooked and dried out. Prices are a little high but not if the food were good.

I had been here once before and the food was so good I had to come back. By the time I got to my hotel, I was running late for my reservation and got a call from The Appalachian checking if I was going to make my reservation. I let them know that I had just arrived at my hotel, traffic on I-81 held me up and I was going to order an Uber as soon as I was off the phone. Coming from DC, I expected an Uber would be at the hotel door steps within a few minutes, I was wrong. I was then crushed by the realization that I was wrong, I wasn't gonna make my reservation. I knew that on a week night The Appalachian's kitchen closed at 9. Ride.I called them back to let them know of the situation and expressed my desire to have their Wood Fired Lamb. The Gentleman that answered the phone simply responded "it's going on the grill now, we will see you when you get here. F-ing amazing, turned my stressful and painful day completely around. Uber'ed over, walked into an empty restaurant on a weekday where I would guess dinner customers might have been light and they held the staff for little old me. The Appalachian had just moved to the top of my list for I mean best restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Unfortunately, for them, my favorite restaurant of all time in the United States shut down when I was in my early 20's so they'll never get a chance to compete.. But they just bumped Alligator Soul in Savannah Georgia to number two still in existence in these great United States. The Appalachian is a must dine at least once in your life, top tear resistant. Out F-ing standing, must F-ing dine at some point in your life. To the staff of The Appalachian, thank you for taking care of me went you could have told me that you close at 9pm. Thank you for watching out for this old man DC IRIS (AKA Savyon)

First off, the restaurant is truly stunning! Service was excellent too. We started with the Fried Chicken Skins. My friend had heard good things for a friend, but we weren't particularly impressed. I had the Hanger Steak as my entree, and it was delicious. I especially loved the potato dumplings! My friend had the Kansas City Strip, cooked medium rare, with broccolini. Initially, the steak was overcooked, but the staff quickly cooked another steak and made it right. Overall a really good experience! Downtown Sevierville has really evolved, and we enjoyed walking around and exploring after dinner.

Since we got there so early, we had ordered from their cafe and their lattes were nice to sip on while walking through their edible garden! I really liked our server, a ginger man, very kind and quirky and it felt personable which I enjoy, he told us about being a Michelin recommended and I'm glad to have experienced it! For starter, I got the smoked salmon hash, and that was filling enough and very fresh! I had ordered their Philly cheese steak with auju and it was sooooo filling, I love a hearty breakfast, but I could only finish one half. I ordered their local sausage patty and it was nice and Smokey and savory! The grits were chunky and cheesy which I really enjoyed, everything was great! Love it! My partner ordered a classic breakfast and their maple bacon is sooooooooo good, I told him he needed to learn to make it because I want more! Their fruits seemed home grown and I really appreciate their decor of sexy veggies on the way! Such a cool place to eat and hang out!

They also grow their own herbs and veggies in the adjacent garden to the restaurant. The flavor on the waffle sandwich was superb. Waffle crispy and chicken moist. You walk in, grab a tray, and you've got options. You can go through the hot bar and get served right there, pay, and be on your way... or order off the menu, sit down, and they'll bring the food to you. Very simple and efficient. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, and there's also outdoor seating if you want it. Parking is easy too, which is a big plus, especially compared to the chaos you'll run into closer to Helen. Food wise, I always judge breakfast spots by the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit... and this one held up. The chicken was tender, the biscuit was soft and fresh, and overall it was a solid start. The surprise for me was the hashbrown casserole. It came out good, but once I added a little salt, the flavor really popped. Definitely worth getting. The pancakes were also done right... nice crispy edges with a soft, fluffy inside. That's exactly how pancakes should be. Menu wise, they've got everything you'd expect from a Southern breakfast spot... biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pancakes, omelets, and even lunch style items like burgers and plate meals if you come later. They also have a Coca-Cola fountain, which is always a win. Service was friendly, especially for early morning, and the whole place just has that comfortable, old-school home cooking feel. There is also a drive thru if you don't feel like leaving your car. Overall, this is a great spot if you want a good breakfast without the crowds. Simple, tasty, and easy.
