I bought dinner for family from the deli and we threw most of it out. The turkey was dry, the vegetables were burnt, and in my opinion the organic ranch dressing wasn't very good. We could have eaten a better meal at nearly any restraint for the $75 I spent in the deli. I will not be ordering anything from that deli again. read more

Pretty good selection of organic items. Pricing is super high for the area. But what irks me the most is the customer service. The staff is rude and unhelpful most of the time. The other day, a rather rude person getting my salmon kept smacking it back and forth in his hands. Terrible. The Produce guy is always rude as well. There is no finer organic produce than Jimbo's! Their organic food, for the most part, is locally grown and that means it is not picked green, which in turn means health and wellness to you. They are not spraying their produce with tap water containing chlorine and other toxins because they use filtered water to spray their produce. They are the ONLY health store that carries Food for Life yeast free brown rice bread as well. It's chewy when lightly toasted and when I am getting my voice students off wheat, it's the only bread they really like. Jimbos is my favorite grocery store in the area. Their vegetable section is by far the best, the salad bar delivers, and the desserts are to die for. (I'm a sucker for the vegan scones!) They also offer more vegan ready-made food than other natural grocery stores. If you're having issues finding anything, someone will gladly help you. read more

I can not afford to do groceries there (sprouts and Trader Joe's are way cheaper), but LOVE their deli: clean ingredients and almost everything in their deli is ORGANIC. extremely reasonable for food that has all organic ingredients. BUT: Their deli supervisor is ALWAYS RUDE, rolls the eyes every time yo ask a question, her conversation feels like "yelling" once I complained about a salad. I try to find someone else at deli even if I have to wait.... BUT: The assistant store manager (tall lady with a high pony, is it Trish?) does not like color people. Rolls her eyes when she sees colored people and never smiles. My husband felt the same way as he buys lunch there more often than I do. So why do we keep going back? We are vegan, organic and my husband is gluten-intolerant. This is the only store that stocks hard-to-find-ingredients and has a full-organic deli. Organic and local and it's actually hard to buy non organic, unlike whole foods where almost everything is conventional and full of pesticides- the 365 brand is no better than smart & final food. GO JIMBO's, you help promote truly organic and healthy food. read more

I love the fresh food/deli section at Jimbo's... my husband is actually picking up the Lonestar (tofu) burger for me right now. We don't shop here that often because their selection isn't as vast as Henry's, and their prices are pretty obscene sometimes ($5-6 for organic strawberries that I can get-- same brand-- at Henry's or Trader Joe's for $1-3). But I love that they carry tofu jerky, and the sesame tofu drops and curry tofu in the deli section are the BEST. Sometimes we walk our dogs over and sit outside with them and eat a tofu burger or soup... That's always nice. read more

I've been a customer of Jimbo's grocery since it opened at the Forum in Carlsbad, and I have a few items I buy regularly, but I don't do the bulk of my grocery shopping there. I tend to get the bottled Oolong tea, Rudi's muffins (refrigerated), some fruits and vegetables, and the dry root tomatoes (when in season). They are all great. I sometimes talk to employees in the departments, and it's usually positive. What is making me hesitant to shop there is the negative customer service I've been experiencing at the front check-out. Unfortunately, the one employee who is consistently pleasant and helpful is not at the registers that long. She tends to rotate off a lot, and there are other employees who are rude and withdrawn with silent treatment and delays in recognizing the customer is there, etc. I wonder what is creating this atmosphere where the employees act unhappy. I hate asking for the senior discount they offer to customers because I've been given a frowning reaction, and they have frequently forgotten to include the discount on my bill. This Saturday, I asked for the discount while the clerk rang up the order. After it was rung up, I couldn't find the discount on the receipt, so I politely asked about it. The clerk gave me some change for the discount without saying anything as if I had a problem for asking for it. I said thank you anyway. The rudeness of another clerk a couple weeks ago was worse. That person wouldn't look at me at all, remained silent when I asked about something, and did delayed reactions to what I said. I think I was being pretty low-key at the register, so that clerk's odd behavior made me wonder about what was going on with that employee. I'm not sure whether there is another store where I could buy my favorite products, and I feel bad about being driven away by the rude manner of some clerks, since there is no choice but to go to their registers if the nicer clerk is not on at that time. I think it would benefit Jimbo's to work on a new style of employee customer service and perhaps a way to enhance the working environment for the front checkout. read more

Way too overpriced and the produce that isn't locally grown is not quality. I bought 3/4 of a pound of stew meat for $7.91 and a couple hours after I bought it, it had already started to brown and says it has three days left before selling. I have two positive things; the curry chicken from the deli is delish and the customer service is excellent. Going back to Sprouts. read more

Their produce department is almost completely organic with lots of local produce, they have a great deli with lots of hot dishes and cold salads, as well as pre-made sandwiches and wraps, and a decent frozen food section. Lots of fresh baked goods made in-house or from local bakeries. They do not have the wide choice of a large supermarket, but they have almost everything I need, and the employees are friendly and helpful. The people that work in the vitamin and supplement section are particularly knowledgeable. read more

We ordered an organic, free-range turkey from here for thanksgiving and it was quite good. We also got butternut squash soup-it was good but needed ALOT more salt. Thew environment is nice albeit a little hoighty toity, and the prices reflect the location (La Costa not being the most frugal area). Employees seem happy thus give good service. I wouldn't shop there regularly because I could never afford to, but for special occasions it is an excellent choice. read more

Deli counter has great selections for when I'm not feeling like cooking. Great desserts too! It is a little spendy, though.

The store is good but the staff is just OK. I ordered 3 separte times veggie juices and two of the three times there was grit or dirt in the juice (a lot of it). When I order sandwiches there is always something wrong (I ask for no mayo and they put it in anyway). Attention to detail is just not there. I like the Jimbos in Carmel Valley better, more attention to detail. read more

Had to check out Jimbo's @ The Forum, well knowing The Forum's notorious sparse parking situation we attempted a visit on a Saturday afternoon. We were able to find a spot, far away from the store but it was short walk. The store is small by my East Coast Standards, I'm talking Flagship Whole Foods Stores, The Fresh Market and Harry's Farmer's Market (Cobb Harry's in Atlanta before Whole Foods bought them) among others we had back East. Upon entering and walking around I was disappointed with the selection, while it's selection of Vegan items is good, I did not see many items I use to get back East. Also for some items, Prices were very high, compared to other stores in the area. Selection of Organic Bottled Teas is lacking among other things. The Forum in general makes stopping in Jimbo's for a few items, not worth the hassle due to the poor parking and with other options nearby or in the greater area, I don't see me returning too often. read more

Love Jimbo's! Great place to get organic food and the avocado pie here is awesome! Unfortunately they don't have the avocado pie available that often. This place has a great deli as well. Sure this place can be expensive, but it's worth it and it's also nice that they have jovial spaghetti. Also Jimbo's seems to be one of the only places in North County that has the Organic Pastures cheese. Seaside Market doesn't sell the Organic Pastures cheese, unless it's hiding from me for some reason. read more

I appreciate the warm and home feel that Jimbo's has. They have great bites in the hot and cold sections. Some prices for items beat WF's pricing which is nice. I just wish they were able to do more custom juices (menu is limited to only a combo with a carrot base). I love Jimbos! It's a little more expensive then Henrys or Trader joes but you get quality. As far as the produce, it's a night and day difference from Henrys. The produce is actually fresh and looks appetizing. The thing I also love about Jimbos is they have a really big tea section. Jimbos has been my favorite grocery store for over 20 years (started with the Del Mar/Carmel Valley location). As the only vegetarian in my family, Jimbos has allowed me to find great vegetarian meals in small quantities already prepared. Love their juices, smoothies, organic produce selection, and supplements. In my opinion, there is no comparison between Jimbos and certain other so called natural groceries near by. I was expecting something like Trader Joes. This was a very close cousin to it only felt more cramped and kept running into other people. Not sure if it is always that busy but would rather shop at Trader Joes. It is busy there but at least the aisles aren't narrow. read more

On several occasions I've left due to no one being behind the deli or bakery counters, or not wanting to wait while numerous customers sort of cut in front of you - perhaps when there is just one employee numbers should be taken by customers?? Delicious items and only one time was a day-old muffin rancid and inedible. Quality health food if you can afford their prices, and have the patience of an ox. Another issue - their outdoor seating area has that piped-in muzak that just.........is it really necessary to have Big Brother breathing down our necks when we're eating a healthy happy meal?? And the trashcan outside smelled like a sewer. If you must eat outside, try the fish pond area near the clothing stores -no foul odors there. Employees are super friendly - sometimes a little fake, but that's probably how they're trained. read more

Their prepared foods are excellent; I hardly have to cook. They also carry an excellent selection of natural remedy products. My initial review was total disappointment but I ended up LOVING Jimbo's...they have the freshest fruit and vegetables of ANYWHERE I went in Encinitas / Cardiff and it seems over the years they improved greatly on the people working there. I love this store, and always tell others about this store. Unfortunately their return policy is not good and spending so much on vitamins just to put them in the trash is just not working for me. Other stores have more generous policies regarding defective products so I'll have to unfortunately take my vitamin business elsewhere. It's too bad, as I really like the store otherwise. And yes, I did contact the store, and never heard back. I spent $70 on three items on my last trip, and one of the products, about $20 is totally unusable. absolutely love their products, love the variety of produce they carry! Deli food is yummy. They just lack customer service! I hate returning a product because they are truly rude! Not all the customers are the same! I'm stuck with a Biotin product that gave me a reaction. one BUTCHER here is awful. He's rude, and treats everyone different. God forbid you ask them for a bag of ice. I have complained to managament (she acknowledge that the meat department lacks customer service) I come here once a week (I'm now driving to their Escondido store), hoping i don't see that butcher. The Vitamin department is great, they are always willing to help. Jim should look into Trader Joe's, customer service. The cashiers are rude, my son once opened a mango ice cream bar , and the cashier went nuts. She claimed she had a mango allergy, and she was upset she had to throw away the wrapper. Maybe she should request her employer for gloves or to stop selling mango products, to accommodate her*_*. I myself have food allergies, and take precautions. About a month ago, they gave my warm food to someone else, i didn't notice until I got home, I called and since i didn't had my receipt ( it was put inside the warm bags) i had no way of claiming my food. Great selection for what seems like a smaller store. Located in the great mall, but parking can be tricky. Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh! They do have a little section where you can sit and eat, but it's better as a grocery store. read more

Our family lives gluten and dairy free and it is so difficult finding grocery stores or delis that work.
