The people here are also so friendly and they really work hard to get their line down... because that line is always the longest... but its NEVER slow. The ice cream here can't be beat in the area. The strawberry/vanilla swirl is my personal fave. The parking is a bit tight but we have never had a problem. You can also park across the street at the CVS if you can't find anything. There are tables over by the parking that are perfect if you want to bring your dog along for the ride. read more

So I have been going to Jimmy Cone for 20+ years and it has the best soft serve I have ever had. If your not into soft serve then jimmy cone is not the place for you. I have had lots of different things on the menu and have never been disappointed. My current favorite is getting a flurry which is ice cream and whatever toppings you use all mixed in, FANTASTIC!! I read a bunch of other reviews on here and people were complaining about the service and they said the staff was rude... I have never had this experience there. Yea sometimes they are really busy (line way into the parking lot) and they just don't have time to listen to my life story. Get your ice cream and move along. The only thing I wish was different is they don't take credit cards, cash only which is a little inconvenient considering its 2015 and most people don't carry cash anymore but I deal with it. Overall this is a landmark in Damascus and some of the best ice cream you can find. Definitely try it if you haven't. read more

I grew up in a nearby town, and we'd always hop in the car for the quick trip down 124 to Jimmie Cone. Definitely a Montgomery County soft serve ice cream staple. Go here before you go to Rita's! They have most of the same options as Rita's (plus some more too) but it has a more local feel to it. The usual chocolate/vanilla/orange twist soft serve flavors are there. I think next time I go I will try black raspberry since that is my absolute favorite flavor of ice cream. They also have alternating frozen yogurt flavors which is cool. I tried the rockin' raspberry frozen yogurt which was their sugar free/fat free option of the day and it didn't taste all that good but the hot fudge topping helped. There's always a line here so make sure you are ready to wait in line for a few minutes. That just gives you more time to look at the menu and pick something out. Also, they are cash only so if you forget cash it's right next to a 7-11 where you can run over and get cash really quick. If you have never been to Jimmie Cone, I recommend it! The soft serve ice cream reminds me of going to the beach for soft serve ice cream in the summer. I really wish they would open a few locations in OC/Bethany because they would do really well down there! read more

Jimmie Cone is an institution, a landmark, a retreat compared to all those chain ice cream parlors. A family run business that is open from April thru October. When my kids were little we used to have pajama and ice cream dinners at Jimmie Cone, it was one of their favorite things to do, little did they know it was one of mine, too! They make their ice cream with whole milk, so if you're on a diet, get the kid size cone. I've lived in Damascus for over 13 years and do not understand the appeal of this place, especially with a baskin robin nearby. I get that it's a hangout spot for teens but don't tell me the ice cream is good--it's not. Very meh soft serve, which I don't consider ice cream in the first place. I will give them credit for being cheap and having large servings. If you have an upset stomach, their milkshake isn't horrible. Excellent ice cream. Generous portions. I usually get vanilla with strawberry sauce. The sauce comes with chunks of strawberries, so it's not the kind of syrup they serve you in those fancy and bland fro yo places. Drove from Olney to go here. Parking is minimal and kind of tight. There's plenty of places to sit and eat. It is cash only. Service was average. After all this, I still don't see what the big deal is. I got a small twist with rainbow jimmies...the ice cream was OK, nothing amazing. As a true JimmieConehead, I grew up eating Jimmie Cone for over 40 years, and have always loved it. But it took being a middle aged man with plenty of ice cream experience to truly appreciate just how good their ice cream is. It has a deep, rich flavor and this smooth, creamy texture that just begs to be savored. But you can't. With those jimmies all over it, you just can't help but gobble it down so fast that you almost get brain freeze! It's an institution, I get it. I personally think they're living on the memories of locals and as such they're too enshrined to change, but I'm not a local. We stopped by on our way home from Adventure Park USA on a recent Saturday due to the worshipful reviews of local friends. Fortunately we arrived at exactly the right time and were able to walk right up and order. A line quickly developed and seating was in high demand shortly. We ordered three cones, one snowball and dug in. General consensus was that the ice cream was nothing special. It's good soft serve, but it's not really much better than any other soft serve. The cones are huge to the point of being difficult for a nine-year old to eat without making a huge mess. The staff of high school kids was somewhere between apathetic and rude, clearly wishing to be somewhere else on Saturday afternoon. The snowball was a disaster. This wasn't the familiar shaved ice of most snowball stands, this was crushed ice. Small distinction makes a huge difference. The syrup doesn't soak into the ice here, it collects at the bottom of the cup and the recipient can try to grind their way through a cup of crushed ice. That mess was thrown away largely intact as it refroze into a nearly impenetrable ball. In summation, it's crowded, it's cash only to less than stellar employees and the ice cream isn't anything worth going out of your way for. If you live nearby, it might be worth a walk down. It's not worth a special trip from outside of town in my opinion. read more

First time my husband took me here, it reminded me of a similar style soft-serve ice cream stop in my hometown of Fredericksburg Va. called Carl's which has been around since 1947 and still going strong. They say its usually the small, "mom and pop" shops that have the best foods because they don't have to make their food taste the same as the other hundreds of restaurant chains around the country.
