    Meatball Sandwich
    Mariko M.

Was curious to check out Jimmy John's after hearing from a friend who lives stateside that they had the best sandwiches ever. I got a meatball sub combo, which included a bag of chips and a drink. You can add other toppings as well so I added lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. I think they just opened (?) so I think they're still going through growing pains. The service was a little slow, but warm and welcoming. As for the sandwich, it was okay. There's seating inside and a nice patio. Since it was such a beautiful day, I sat outside. Good for: sandwiches

I wasn't super familiar with the Jimmy John's chain but I did know that they're pretty big south of the border. So obviously I was pretty excited when I leaned that they were opening a Canadian location just a few minutes from my place. I showed up on a Saturday at around 5:00 and the place was already pretty crowded. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, I placed my order and was told to wait over by the food-prep area. It took about 20 minutes to get my food. Honestly, if the wait for fast food is going to be that long, I feel like the person serving you should let you know. But this place did just open, so maybe they're still ironing out the kinks. For my sandwich, I decided to go with the Italian Night Club ("Salami, Capocollo, Ham, Provolone, Onion, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo, Oregano-Basil, Oil & Vinegar"). It's a decent sandwich. It's packed with tasty meat and the fresh, fluffy bread holds the whole thing together really well. However, it's a heavy, heavy sandwich. And there's no real relief from that heaviness. There's so much oil and vinegar that there was a pool of it in my wrapper after I was finished eating. The prevailing taste of the concoction was meat and oil, which ensured that eating the sandwich became a bit of a chore (i.e. every bite was exactly the same). I ate the whole thing, though, so it's not like I hated the sandwich. But I was just hoping for some more flavor. Maybe a nice chimichurri sauce or something. The joint just opened a few days ago, though, so I'm not going to judge them too harshly. I'll definitely be returning to try something else (and I'll come back at a much less crowded time, I hope).

Had a fantastic sub sandwich, ordered a sandwich for me and my partner and it was quickly made and fresh.

I didn't have very high expectations because sometimes desserts don't travel well, but I was actually so surprised. I made a mistake while ordering, so I called the store and the girls who answered were super helpful and really nice about it. They fixed everything for me with no problem and made it so easy.

The restuarant also serves, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, poutine, and sandwiches if you're looking for something more savoury.  I ordered the Karak Chai, and MyTreat (croffle, topped with cheesecke bites, graham crumbs, strawberry coulis, and white chocolate sauce, with a side of vanilla ice cream).  The chai latte was a nice compliment to the dessert.  The croffle was enjoyable, but the ice cream wasn't to my liking. It tasted low quality and a bit artificial in my opinion.  The portions were huge, and one order can be shared between two people. My partner and I ordered one dessert each and couldn't finish our shares, but we were still a bit full from dinner. The Etobicoke location has a bright airy feel, with plenty of seating, great for both large and small groups. The staff here were also welcoming, and efficient.

This dessert restaurant is no joke, their menu is so massive it feels like it could rival the Cheesecake Factory's (no exaggeration). While most of it is dedicated to desserts, they do offer food options too, but let's be honest... you come here for the sugar rush. We tried a slice of their Red Velvet Cheesecake, and it was rich, smooth, and everything you want in a dessert. We also ordered a loaded waffle topped with brownies, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, and whipped cream, basically a dessert lover's dream on a plate. Both desserts were fantastic and definitely lived up to the hype. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even with such a huge menu, they made great recommendations. If you're looking for a fun spot to satisfy your cravings, The D Spot delivers.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to, simply because I'm not big on sweets. The cake is light and spongey and absorbs the leche/milk very nicely, and makes the entire cake very moist. Vastly different in texture to other cakes that rely more on cream and icing to balance the sponge cake. I found this cake lighter and a really unique flavour/texture. It's sweet with flavour that has depth (not just by using more sugar/syrup) and the hints of milk, strawberries, cream, etc all mesh really well. Glad to have stumbled across a new fave and I'll definitely be back to try the rest of their offerings.
