Jimmy johns has good sandwiches, but this location definitely is very iffy on service. I ordered a sandwich through the app and hurried up and drove over during my lunch break and then back to work. I was in town for the annual St. John's vs. Navy croquet grudge match, and after a liquid breakfast of bud light and champagne, I was starving. I passed several tables full of alumni snacks and was on the verge of turning on the charm when I spotted someone holding a Jimmy John's sandwich wrapper. If I was a dog (shush), my ears would have been pointing forward. I HAD to have that sandwich. So I pulled up the Yelp app, ditched my friends and scrambled towards Main Street, dodging townsfolk and tourists alike. The staff were extremely efficient at getting people in and out of the store as quickly as possible; despite a line of 15 I got my Turkey Tom within five minutes. Why the fixation? Simply put, the french bread is fantastic. Beyond that, the ingredients are fresh, there are a million combinations, the house chips are legit, and I love the snarky signs on the walls. $5 for an 8-incher isn't too bad a deal, either. I left JJ's cradling my sandwich like a football, and if it wasn't for my long history of friendship with Ellen S, I would have said no when she asked me to share. They advertise their vegetarian sandwich as a gourmet sandwich with layers of provolone and avocado spread. I barely found any avocado in my sandwich and there weren't "layers" of provolone at all! This is the shop that markets itself for its freakishly fast service, right? Yesterday, January 2nd 2020, I spent about 20 minutes there waiting for my sub after I had ordered. I wasn't the only one. There were at least 4 other people waiting as well. Yeah, sure, there were a lot of web orders they were fulfilling. But that manager does not have the respect of their employees. They don't even want to kick it into high gear and do good work for her. But you know what, I understand it at least. Her interactions with her employees on at least more than one occasion was adversarial at best, unprofessional at worst (especially in front of customers!). When they finished the big web orders, they started to put out orders for the people who were waiting in the store. Except they weren't coming out in first-in-first-out order. The couple that ordered at least 5 minutes after myself got their order first! And I got my order before two ladies who were waiting before I had even ordered. To top it all off, they didn't even get the order right. I had a feeling this was the case, because they didn't announce "add hots" when the sub was ready. So I checked before I left and sure enough, they missed that part too. You might be asking why such a harsh review and still 2 stars? EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the service I received through downtown jimmy Johns tonight. I am within their delivery range yet they refused to deliver to me! I then tried to order a pickup, and the woman answering the phone insisted I had already called (which I had, for a delivery, when they told me they wouldn't deliver...) finally she took my order and I had to have a friend pick it up for me. I went in this place with high expectations after hearing how good it was from my shorties. This is a chain sub sandwich shop, much like firehouse subs, blimpie, or subway. Very nicely decorated and the place was pretty cool. As for the food, meh. It was overpriced and the subs weren't that good. I was hoping for so much better. Why oh why do they choose to export the mundane franchises from the state of Illinois when they have so many great unique foods? How about an Al's Beef, a Lou Malnati's or Portillos? Pot Belly's at least has the toasted advantage. Jimmy John's is just ordinary. We ordered the "beach club" served on their freshly baked bread and turkey breast, provolone cheese, avocado spread, sliced cucumber, sprouts, lettuce, tomato and mayo. The only flavor profile I was getting was a mouthful of sprouts. I might has well been eating beef tongue as there were no other discernable flavors. Sure the sub roll was soft and fresh but little else. And no, I did not have a cold. If I want a sandwich when I am in the historic district I will be heading to the Big Cheese and Sammy's Deli on Randall Street. I found this one in downtown Annapolis and it has been my spot ever since! I always get the Italian and the bread is always fresh. Staff is always friendly especially the brunette that works most day shifts, she always makes me laugh. Then there subs are not as well put together and the catering orders my friends have placed have been incorrect and take long wait times. I was very surprised to see so many negative reviews of this place as I eat here quite often (as well as the one at Annapolis Towne Center) and have always had a great experience. The staff is always upbeat and friendly and my sandwiches have always been served fast and fresh. Upon entering, I'm always greeted by several staff members. While some people may be bothered by the small number of choices on the menu, this has never bothered me as quality is always better than quantity. Besides, I find the #5 Vito so tasty that I always get that. I used to be bothered by the fact that they only have provolone cheese; however, I now look at it as more of one of their signatures. I absolutely love their homemade roll and the meat and toppings are always fresh. They also have really good potato chips. You can get a Subway, Quiznos, and or Potbelly sub anywhere but when you're eating a Jimmy Johns sub, you KNOW you're eating a Jimmy John's sub. I also want to note that their delivery is insanely fast. I ordered online and they were at my office less than 10 minutes later. I'm not even sure how they had time to make it. read more

Vince was a total ass and he is in no place to be a manager if that's how he handles people (hint: with absolutely no people skills or management skills). We called to make an order at 1:47am...it was received at 1:48am. We waited 20 mins. Of course jimmy johns claims to "be fast." Anyway, we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were swamped. We called 20 mins later only to have VINCE tell us "oh we stopped delivering at 11pm. We saw your order and put it to the side." Mind you, we put our phone number in the online order. So no one was going to call and tell us that they didn't deliver or pushed our totally disregarded or order? . So then Vince tells us that they can cancel out the order. When we get in, we speak to Vince and he's just as bad in person as he is on the phone. My partner loves jj but he reminded me why I don't eat there. Here's what you can do better and maybe you can get some of those stars up...think about your customer. If you don't deliver and you actually SEE the order, have the decency to let them know so they aren't waiting around for food that's never coming. Telling us "we had over $1k in sales today" doesn't mean anything to us! Get it together! We also paid for extra mayo and that we never received and had we not scanned the store for chips I'm sure they would have let us leave without those too...but if he can't do the big things I can't expect him to get the small things. Someone took my sandwich while I was in the bathroom and the older man who made my sandwich got so upset and walked away saying " I can't handle this." I understand that the situation was shitty for someone to take my sandwich, but he needs to understand that he still needs to satisfy the customer if he's in this industry. Huge disappointment....they forgot the sauce on my sandwich, light portion of meat, 2 small tomato ends, and I could count the lettuce strands if I tried to. There were no sweet peppers (only hot) or pickles available for toppings. I would have to purchase a whole pickle for my sandwich and cut it up for a topping.
