At least at the Lyon Village location, you can't order a made-to-order sandwich directly at the counter. So if you have your heart set on a freshly made sub, plan ahead! Of course, no Italian sub is complete without chips. They carry Route 11, a Virginia-based chip company, and they had several varieties available: lightly salted, dill pickle, Chesapeake Crab, Mama Zuma's Revenge, and salt & pepper. I went with the lightly salted, which was the perfect pairing with my Milano. Unfortunately, the Lyon Village location doesn't have fresh gelato, so I had to settle for the pre-packaged variety. I went with the caramel gelato, and it was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated, although it was a little on the expensive side. The store was pretty busy when I stopped in, with several people inside and a few others enjoying the outdoor tables. They also sell pizza by the slice, or you can order a whole pizza to take home. I saw several people leaving with whole pizzas, so clearly I need to add that to my next visit. Between the Milano, Route 11 chips, and caramel gelato, this was a fantastic first experience. I really wanted to like Jimmy John's, I thought that their sandwiches were good and I liked the atmosphere. BUT it was their horrible delivery service that made me stop going to Jimmy John's. I ordered a sandwich and GAVE A 30% TIP because I was feeling nice. When the delivery guy came to my office he immediately asked me about my religion and then he began challenging me and demanding a bigger tip. I then called the manager at the store and he basically rushed me off the phone. So I went to the store after my shift and spoke to the manager. He said that he would take care of the problem. I assumed that the delivery biker would be fired for what he did, but a month later I saw him biking down the street delivering someone's prder. I wish the appropriate action would have been taken. It is because of the delivery biker I stopped going to Jimmy John's and I do not plan to go back. read more

Been to this branch as well as others. This place's tiny sandwiches are not worth the $10 they cost. Plus I believe the staff at the N. Irving branch spit in my food. You can read about my experience with the N. Irving branch at that review. This place just has the flaws of every Jimmy Johns: the sandwiches aren't worth the price. They are tiny, and even if you get the extras like added meat, they still aren't too big, and you've boosted the price up over any sense of value. It will be like $11 including tip for just a sandwich that isn't very filling. For that price, I can get a lot more food at other places nearby. It's just not worth it. So happy that this location FINALLY delivers to South Arlington. Have ordered delivery twice now and both times got my sandwich in less than fifteen minutes. What I saw was disappointing. The bread was cut incorrectly -- not lengthwise down the center but more like one-third on the bottom and two-thirds on top. That kind of cut doesn't hold up, and by the time the oil was added, the thin bottom half was already soggy. I also don't believe I received the extra meat I paid for. The toppings were applied carelessly -- lettuce scattered across the counter, and the oil and vinegar were poured so haphazardly that the wrapping paper was soaked through before they even got to cutting the sandwich. I'm not writing this to be harsh. I'm writing it because I've always admired this location and would hate to see it slip into the kind of mediocrity that has hurt other spots in the chain. It was clear to anyone watching that neither of these two employees had much investment in the product they were putting in front of the customer. I hope management takes note -- this place is worth caring about.
