Kenneth the manager really came through with his offer of a better sandwich! Hopefully all my orders will be great!

Service is below mediocre. First the lady argued with me about the multu grain bread vs French (I just said I wanted French bc they've switched them in the past). Not very helpful staff. Then when I asked them to cut my sandwich in half (I had already ordered and paid) they said "It's too late". How hard is it to cut a sandwich after I order at 3pm on a Saturday when there is absolutely no one in the store??

Purely theoretical tuna on this tuna salad sandwich that took and hour to get the 4 blocks to my office.

I order a beach club almost everytime i go to the place, yes there is alot of veggies, but between the avacado and the meat the sandwich is amazing.

It been a Houston institution since 1999. Walking into K&G's can be quite overwhelming on the first visit. There's just so much to see, be it Autographs, Caricatures, Playbill's or their delicious cakes, treats, breads, and Pickles. However, the real overwhelming experience is the menu. Anything you could possibly want is listed on the menu. I recommend looking t it online before coming, just so you can have an idea of what you might want to eat. My dad(96) and I are frequent visitors and we always seem to get the open faced roast beef, which is stacked high and there is always left overs for eating at home the next day. The pickles are a fan favorite for me, and I tend to devour several of them. This visit I decided to try the fried fish sandwich (made with halibut) with onion rings and french fries and my friend, a Houston native who had never been here, went for the Schleppy Joe with onion rings. These sandwiches were stunning and wonderful. I saved half for to go so I could have their classic New York Cheesecake... the best in the city. The entire dining experience was top notch, exactly the experience I always have. Ziggy knows how to make the customers dining experience an "experience", I have never had a bad one, from the service down to the cleanliness of the entire place. In this review I want to give a special shout out to Beverly, our server, as she was amazing and whom I recommend. She practically read our minds and was an absolute star. Thank you, Beverly, for the fine service that was speedy with a smile!

They have one side where you order bagels in a bunch to go and the other side is the restaurant!! Very cute and cozy like 50-s-60s vibe and the girls who work here are very nice so PLEASE come in with a smile and a great attitude because they are very welcoming! I just noticed a couple grouchy customers and gave the girl a bad attitude so PLEASE BE NICE!! We are all starting our morning and should dump our negativity on others!! Okkkk okkk now for the food!!! Not bad $12.95 for a breakfast bagel and a cappuccino. Freshly baked jalapeño bagel with egg and bacon and jalapeño cream cheese which they are make themselves!! When you come in through the bakery side you can see fridge with many options for you to add to your bagels (take home) and they had so much to choose from "smoked salmon, smoked fish, different cream cheeses, drinks, creams" Oml and more!!! I was originally going to purchase a bagel and prep it myself but the girl in the front told me about the restaurant and how many options I have to have them prep my bagel!! Yummm I looked at menu and they had so much but I had to go to work so I wanted something fast!! But will definitely come back to eat here with my family!!! The bagel was so good!! You can taste the freshness and quality, the Cajun fries were perfect!! It was a big portion for me and had left over for later!!! Definitely try it out !!! Cream my jalapeño cream cheese homemade and crispy bacon so savory and adjust right!! Woke me up and put me in a great mood lol Thumbs up to VANESSA, positive attitude even after dealing with some rude customers!! Customer is not always right, and I know that!!

I was craving a good gyro and was reminiscing on the specific and perfect flavor of Droubis. So glad this place exists! It's a simple gyro with the necessary toppings (nothing over the top) wrapped perfectly in the most delicious and fresh pita. The price is very reasonable and the quality is top notch. The owner was still making sandwiches just like before! The taste was exactly how I remembered. And the hospitality hasn't changed either!! While waiting for my sandwich to be made, he offered us tea and apologized for the 5 minute delay (because he was making fresh pitas for the sandwiches). I will definitely be back!

Wow! Just... wow…read more Loved this place from the moment I walked in! Ambiance was super fun and welcoming. The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! Loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat!

Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.

So I asked the proprietor "are you still serving breakfast?" His response "depends on what you want". Ok...how about breakfast tacos? He looks around the corner, replies "nope, those are done". So I wait for a few awkward seconds to see if he would tell me what's available. No info came. So I asked him "so are you switched over to lunch now then?". Yes, we have switched to lunch. Apparently in the last 37 seconds of that conversation, they have switched to lunch. Could have just told me that from the start and saved a lot of grief. So, by now I should have known better, but I asked "how about a latte?". We don't have lattes. Just a cup of coffee then? He looks at me like I am just a thorn in his side and responds "I would have to make a new pot just for you." I said "thanks"....and walked out.
