This is a TINY Jason's Deli location tucked into a strip center off Bellaire near Stella Link. I…read morewas a bit surprised when it opened, because most Jason's Deli locations I've been into have quite a bit of space for people to sit and mingle for a while, but this is clearly more of a grab-and-go spot where they don't anticipate much lingering. I've only ordered from here a couple of times, always to go when I needed something quick for work, and I'll give them credit, they always have the food ready on time. I'd much prefer going to a larger location where you can sit more comfortably (they have like 4-6 small tables inside), so it won't be a place I regularly visit. I was going to go with just two stars because the tiny location and general lack of parking around lunch time make it a bit miserable to visit, but I had to give them a third star after my wife's family went there for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed being able to leave the nearby Starbucks and grab a bite to eat in proper chairs.

I had read that this place was "smaller than other locations" like "1/4 the size of a Jason's Deli"…read morebut we didn't realize it would be THIS SMALL. Like, it's got 5 tables??? After googling this location, it was listed as a Jason's Deli-Express. (Well, maybe that should be listed on the front of the store). I always get Jason's Deli salad bar well... that's not here. And the kids love the free ice cream... I don't think that's here either. We didn't see it. If you go to Jason's for sandwiches, this place would definitely be ok. Baked potato, yes. Ordering an already made salad, yup. So unfortunately, we left and went to a "normal" Jason's Deli where I could have my beloved salad bar and the kids could gorge themselves on ice cream.

I love the atmosphere as there was soft, soothing music playing in the background. I got a intimate, family feel as I saw who I believed to be a young family member there. This is definitely a family owned business which warmed my heart. The Smoked Turkey sandwich which I added avocado to was fantastic and exceeded my expectation. The French bread was nice and fresh. I also bought a jar of capers which I love, Zapps Spicy Cajun Crawtators chips (new flavor I hadn't heard of) and a Sesame snack from Greece that I can't wait to try. I love sandwiches and Poboys and now I have found my new Poboy spot. Hats off to Paulie and his staff. I will be back. P.S. Walked to the counter to order, was looking for a hey how are you or hi have you been here before? None of that happened. I went with the supreme poboy, was asked if I wanted it all the way, I did. A premade sandwich was pulled out of the cooler and handed to me. I was kind of taken back by that. Nonetheless, I chose my chips and drink. The sandwich was fairly simple, dry, and not rememberable. For being a premade sandwich the bread was still fresh, just dry. Would I go back? Maybe, but I would ask if they could make the sandwich fresh, you should too.

I just noticed a couple grouchy customers and gave the girl a bad attitude so PLEASE BE NICE!! We are all starting our morning and should dump our negativity on others!! Okkkk okkk now for the food!!! Not bad $12.95 for a breakfast bagel and a cappuccino. Freshly baked jalapeño bagel with egg and bacon and jalapeño cream cheese which they are make themselves!! When you come in through the bakery side you can see fridge with many options for you to add to your bagels (take home) and they had so much to choose from "smoked salmon, smoked fish, different cream cheeses, drinks, creams" Oml and more!!! I was originally going to purchase a bagel and prep it myself but the girl in the front told me about the restaurant and how many options I have to have them prep my bagel!! Yummm I looked at menu and they had so much but I had to go to work so I wanted something fast!! But will definitely come back to eat here with my family!!! The bagel was so good!! You can taste the freshness and quality, the Cajun fries were perfect!! It was a big portion for me and had left over for later!!! Definitely try it out !!! The owner was still making sandwiches just like before! The taste was exactly how I remembered. And the hospitality hasn't changed either!! Wow! Just... wow…read more Loved this place from the moment I walked in! Ambiance was super fun and welcoming. The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! Loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat!

A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.

And it's been true for 15 years. Luckily they are around H-Town and my last visit I was staying relatively klose to the Westheimer location. Gotta admit that it is a beautiful and spacious location with outdoor dining and a playscape for the kids. Inside is an open dining concept that still allows patrons to have private conversations. The staff is super friendly and attentive and even the manager comes by asking about the service and food. Speaking of... I ordered a cup of chili, a Reuben and my favorite, the Yankee pot roast. Of course, not all of it for me as I had a friend with me. Chili was spot-on Texas style and not too spicy. The Reuben was delicious and the right amount of portions with the corned beef, sauerkraut and Russian dressing. The rye bread was moist so the hard edges didn't tear up the upper part of my mouth. But the Yankee pot roast sandwich was heavenly. First bite brought me back 30 years ago when I first had it. So happy that the recipe is still the same where every bite brings comfort and satisfaction. I hope they eventually make it back to Austin. I came here early May after a long day of events in the Galleria area and I was starving. First thing came to my mind was get something at Katz. My friend ordered a passion fruit lemonade which came out tasting artificial and no lemonade flavor and a 2-sauce pasta, which he liked. I ordered Skinny Pastrami Sandwich, which they are famous for. My late husband's favorite. I remember when we tried it years ago at the other location. I don't have the same desire after trying it. I think I'll order something else next time. Parking is not bad after midnight. But for sure don't hit the rush hours as the bars closes or dinner or lunch rush. I came in at the right time. Yeah friendlier service wins me back.
