Came here for a small meal for lunch. This place is a busy little corner store. There's at least 10 people working here at once, lines are pretty long as well as processing the online order list. Bathrooms are clean too. Staff was really great about reminding me about some of the rewards I had that I haven't used yet. Overall, besides the longer than usual wait times. I've had Jimmy John's a few times before all the locations in Buffalo closed up and I was never really a fan of them. I was on a very long drive from Buffalo, NY to Las Vegas, NV and was making a pit stop to see what's Des Moines was all about when we needed some fuel for our stomaches and since not much was open, we settled on getting some sandwiches from Jimmy John's. This locating was pretty large, super duper fast with getting us the food (I'm talking we ordered and had two sandwiches in less then 5 minutes), and was friendly as well. I ended up ordering an 8" with turkey, bacon, lettuce, and mayo and I enjoyed it way more then I thought I was going too. It was made well, it tasted great, and I probably should of ordered the 16"! I placed an order at 11:22AM. My order was received at 11:23 by the store. I called the store at 12:25 (an hour later) and he told me he didn't see my order- so that meant it was out for delivery. I questioned this as I was watching the tracker and it didn't show it was out for delivery. He said there was alot of deliveries and to be patient. I kept the tracker up and at 12:58- my order showed out for delivery. At 2:13 PM I called the store and told them exactly what happened and asked him to refund as I dont want food that has been sitting in a delivery car for over an hour. He was able To pull up my order without me giving him my order # and just my first name- he said he found my order and would refund it within 24-48 hours. There was not a sorry for the inconvenience of you paying for your food and waiting for almost 3 hours for food that still never showed up. Needless to say- i will never order from the Locust street Jimmy Johns in Des Moines again! read more

Delivery is TRASH at this location. Waited an hour 1/2 for a sandwich and I'm a block away. They should make you aware of how long it will take when ordering. I can't speak to the location/building, but what I can say is that after enduring chemo for over a year, this Jimmy Johns store has saved my sanity and stomach more times than I can count. I spent over 120 days of 2023 in Methodist hospital's chemo floor and this location has never taken longer than 20 minutes to deliver my food to the front desk for me, has never messed up my order, and was always extremely polite and communicative. While most won't believe this next story, it's true, and my mother and grandmother were both there to witness. The first time I decided the hospital food was too bland and I needed something else, I ordered JJ's from this location. Before I had even informed the people in the room that someone would need to go down and get it for me since I wasn't allowed to leave, I was already getting a call saying it was downstairs. literally less than 5 minutes since I had ordered it. Because Of this initial experience, they became my go-to comfort food in the hospital, and even while not being able to work, I would order up to 3 times in a week just because it had flavor and would take less time to get than ordering food from the hospital cafeteria. read more

Of all the Jimmy John's in town, I would say this is one of my favorites. They really do live up to the standard of "freaky fast" at this location. And every time I have been here I have been greeted with friendly smiles the second I walk in the door. Plus, the location of this one is perfect. It's downtown but not in the center of all the chaos. Usually parking in this area isn't too hard to find, depending on the time of day. And if you have never been to any Jimmy John's...you need to go! Their subs have some of the best bread, meats, and fresh veggies. You can also get the usual chips and a cookie to go with your meal. (And might I say- the cookies are delish!) The environment is fun with loud music and fun, quirky signs all over the shops. You are in and out fast which is great for a quick lunch run. third time I have attempted to enter this restaurant and it's closed. who closes a sandwich shop at 1 pm??? the staff seem to randomly open when they want close when they want. i ordered sandwhices and came directly over , ( I live 2- minutes walking) and the store was closed. I stop in here when I forget my lunch or just am craving a good sandwich! Especially the beach club!! They are super freaky fast here which is a plus since I usually come on my lunch break. My neighborhood Jimmy John's, I appreciate you. Not only do you make a ridiculously good sandwich in a ridiculously short amount of time, but your restaurant is always very clean and welcoming. My favorite part about you is that you don't stuff as much lettuce as you possibly can into a sandwich like other Jimmy John's. My only knock is your delivery time. I've ordered delivery here a couple times and each time took about 45 minutes and it wasn't during peak-hours. The store was empty, ordered a 13 on wheat the girl started making it right away, didn't use the mayo scoop to measure out the mayo, just scooped it up with the spatula. Today I ordered my usual, #6 vegetarian with Ham, I never complain about food unless it's warranted. Today my sandwich tasted funny not sure why but I started getting sick to my stomach. The food at this location is just like any other jimmy john's. Their delivery is fast enough, however, in a location in such proximity to so many office buildings, they never deliver napkins, and are hit and miss with straws, make sure to ask for them when you order, because you're unlikely to get them otherwise. read more
