They also skimped on the "free sides" like pickles, onions, cucumbers.

Many things wrong.......first off was the freaking food. Used a BOGO coupon for toasted sandwiches. I got a #9 and a #12. The #9 was turkey, avocado SPREAD and provolone. When I opened the package I had first thought they got the order wrong and gave me a vegetarian because I saw no meat. I had to open the sandwich and dig through to find the one lame piece of turkey (I didn't check but I hoped the other side of the sandwich had one too). I could barely tell there was cheese on it as the cheese was melted to the turkey which is ok, but I should have to dig that much to check for cheese, also, the avocado is a "spread", not real avocado, I mean, even SUBWAY uses REAL AVOCADOS. The last time I had jimmy johns was when I lived in Oregon 12 years ago, and that sandwich was awesome. Times have changed man and maybe even because it's SoCal, which has made JJs a HUGE disappointment. Also from viewing other reviews, some people agreed about the weakness of amount of meat. On the flip side many people like their sandwiches which must be people that just like to go along with the Joneses or haven't ever had a REAL sandwich. One person even commented that they like the large amount of lettuce in the sandwich?...........LETTUCE??????? Stupid girl, people don't pay for the lettuce, they pay for the good stuff in their sandwich like meat and cheese. The #9 is not worth the $12 it's priced at...for one (or two) pieces of turkey and some diluted-down avocado? NOPE, NO WAY!!! It also appears as they're discouraging eating-in because from picture of the place, they used to have two four-chaired tables and now there's a big open space in the middle of the store with just two small booths and three seats along the window where the plate that covers the pole on the ground, is not screwed in so every time your foot hits it, the metal clanks and makes a loud noise in the place. The area to grab packaged condiments, utensils, napkins, straws, etc., is to the side and kinda behind the register. Like you have to walk right next to the ordering area to grab any, put that stuff where people can grab it and not make it feel like you're taking something you shouldn't be. It's just in a really odd place but it's probably because they want to regulate the amount taken (the condiments and utensils maybe I could see, but with those messy sandwiches, you REALLY need A LOT of napkins.). Are napkins really that much of a cost for your business? Anyways, they didn't have too many people working there but if they had a crowd or large order, they'd probably get so stressed. I think it's because businesses in Cali have to pay that minimum wage of like $20 for restaurants or drive thrus (I'm not sure if it's just one or both), so they adjust everything to where they don't have to hire that many people. If people just get it to go, that's less employees that have to cleanup and restock everything that's in the building. The way these franchises cut costs now, is sad. But anyways if you like or LOVE thin sandwiches lacking the amount of meat and cheese that is appropriate for a decent sandwich, keep going here. For everyone else who is wise with their money, spend it somewhere else!

I got a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with jalapeno chips delivered to me for my lunch during a workday. My first time having Jimmy John's and the order arrived on time. I loved the freshness and amount of shredded lettuce in my sandwich. I also enjoyed the softness of the wheat bread. The jalapeño chips could be more spicy, but over all it was a great meal.

I happened to see this on my FB feed this morning. Since I was closed by, I went ahead and checked it out. Great service! They opened at 10:30am and saw our mayor of Esco hanging outside and talking to some of the patrons. They had some giveaways. Ordered the Little John Totally Tuna. Was hoping it was like the regular with the provolone cheese but the cheese would be extra. Also, made it into a combo with chips and drink. The sandwich itself was a perfect serving and like the catering manager said, it doesn't have a lot of bread. It was refreshing with the cucumbers in it but wished could have tasted the tuna a little bit more. Will definitely come back and check out the other sandwiches and sides.

Decided to finally try this chain since it opened. I had to see how the Cuban was because it's one of my favorite sandwiches but I've never had one cold. It was pretty thin for $12. My boyfriend got an Italian for the same price which was much fatter. The potato salad was too sweet for me and they forgot to give it to us first. The ingredients were fine, no complaints. I grilled my leftover Cuban when I got home and it was way better. Not sure if they do hot sandwiches. This was definitely a one and done place for me. My friend likes to come get the gargantuan so try the place out for yourself and see what you think.

    Ceasar wrap as a sandwich

Super easy to order online for pick up or delivery, and having a drive thru is super convenient! I like that it's easy to customize/change things, I got their Caesar wrap but was able to make it a sandwich which was nice. It came with plenty of toppings and everything was fresh. Order was completed quickly and employees inside were friendly. Glad we have one of these in town now.

Brand new Jimmy John's in Escondido! I came in today and they said I was their first customer!!! Wow! They even clapped for my wife and I coming in, haha. I ordered a Chicken Ceasar Wrap and my wife got a Beach Club wrap. The food was delicious and the employees were so sweet! Brianna took our orders and was very helpful in explaining how everything worked. I will 100% come back! Thank you, Jimmy John's!

    Sad Turkey Tom
    Rod C.

I used to love Jimmy John's because of the bread and the value. I got the Turkey Tom sandwich and the meat was non existent. I guess inflation is hurting everyone but I usually get the super and it's roughly $19 with tax. I was so disappointed, see the picture. Unfortunately, I won't be coming here anymore. I am also hurting for money and this is basically a single serving sandwich. I typically share this with my wife, but I was still hungry after. I'd rather go to board and brew or Agrusas. On the plus side, the employees were very very nice.

On a Wednesday, we stopped by H Brothers for lunch. Located in downtown Escondido, this bar and…read morerestaurant was recommended to me by one of my Yelp friends. We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.

The location has a pretty extensive menu written in chalk on the walk, and it's easy to read. There are choices of sandwiches, salads and a lot of great food in-between. After taking a minute to decide we went with the Southwest Chicken Salad ($16.99) as well as the Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich ($15.99) with a side of hushpuppies. The sauce on the salad was flavorful with just a bit of zest, and they gave us extra so that was really cool. It's a really comfy place to eat with a little bit of a Louisiana feel to it. For good food served by good people, this is the place!

I…read morelived in Dubai for 18 years, so I'm always on the hunt for authentic flavors--this place hits the mark. We both had the chicken shawarma plate. The chicken, hummus, rice, and salad were all incredibly fresh. I loved that we could watch them cook everything right there! It's definitely some of the best Middle Eastern food I've had in the SD area. Just a heads-up: because they cook to order, it can take a bit of time, so call ahead for takeout. Also, we had a great experience with the owner; he was very kind and hospitable, despite what some other reviews claimed. So glad we gave this place a shot!

We ordered two combo plates and a grilled salmon plate, and we got the cheesy pita quesadilla for my daughter. To my surprise, the food took over 30 minutes before it was ready. It appeared that there was only one person working at the time, so he had to make all the food himself. I can't imagine what it would have been like if there were multiple customers! Once the food got to us, it was actually really good. My combo plate included gyro and chicken shawarma. It was more than enough food with leftovers, and it had a great mix of meat, saffron rice, pita, hummus and salad. The other dishes we got were also really good, including the salmon and the other combo plate. My daughter had ordered the "cheese pita" but it was literally a quesadilla. It was made on a tortilla, not even pita bread. But whatever, she didn't care. The bigger issue was I tried a bite of her quesadilla and the cheese tasted like stinky feet. I think they had used cheese that went bad. My husband sniffed it as well and agreed. So they lost another star for that. I was so prepared to like this place, but stinky cheese and long waits made it not worth it.

I honestly haven't tried too much on their menu because I can't finish their generously portioned entrees after a cup of the poblano. I usually go for one of their salads, the Asian chicken or the spinach salad. Or I'll get a la carte street tacos, the chicken or pork. I like the salsas that come with their complimentary chips. To this day I can't decide between them. The salsa verde has more of a kick but not too much heat. The salsa rojo is milder and thicker with nice flavor. Lots of retirees in the area coming to dine. It can get busy, especially Thursday and Friday lunchtime, and then you have to be patient for your food. The menu was varied and the food was really good. The Thai chicken burrito was large and very tasty. My husband had a combination plate and said it was the best enchilada he's ever had! Complimentary chips-n-salsa was provided with not one, but two different salsas! The service was slightly slow, but friendly. The menus were a little sticky and there was food splashed on the wall at the table and a used napkin under one table. They seem to have a loyal local following of regulars, particularly an older crowd. We drove 15 miles to exclusively visit this restaurant as it had been on our list for a while. We would return if we were in the area. If their service was a little quicker and the cleaning was a little more sparkling, they'd get the extra star. (April 2026). Helpful?
