When I want a sandwich I think of Jimmy John's. It's literally the comfort food you crave after a hard days work. The app allows for convenient ordering and specifications and the service is speedy and accurate. The inside of the shop is small but neat, with very attentive employees at the counter. I order the beef sandwich with extra cheese and mayo and boy does it hit the spot! The meat is well cooked and goes so well with the cheese and vegetables. But my favorite part has to be the bread. One of the things I miss most about living in NY was popping into random Italian delis, trying their best combos and gushing over their breads, meats, and everything in between. (#1) My desire for nostalgia and genuine curiosity lead me to Jimmy John's, a chain I had never known about prior to my move to TX. My expectations were lower than the itch I needed to scratch, but after trying a couple of their sandwiches, I knew this was nowhere near the same thing. HIgh school kids / young College students are usually behind the counter. There is very limited seating here with a handful of mini booths and some tables for small groups. I sense a bulk of their orders are for takeout or delivery and their dedicated parking is only a handful of spaces. I've had the opportunity to try a number of sandwiches here, which include all of their Italian based ones (Spicy East Coast Italian, Italian NIght Club, Vito, etc.) as well as a few of their popular choices like the Hunter's Club, Jimmy Cubano, and Club Tuna. They were all 16' "giants"but was really more read than the skimpy fixins. The bread was also very mid and there wasn't much memorable about the meats either. I realize there are some Jimmy John's loyalists out there but I'll reserve less judgement and more sampling during my next go-around. Stopped in for lunch before an appointment in the medical center. The service was super quick and friendly. We ordered to go, and was out in and out in 5 minutes. The sandwiches are so good. I could eat the bread by itself. Interior was clean. Parking is small but convenient. read more

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!! This is one of the worst customer service transactions i have seen in my ENTIRE life. We placed an order for the office which was totally screw up. The excuse was that it didn't come through correctly online, and it was nothing they could do. After hunger set in we tried to call again. They took the order again over the phone this time with the "manager", and we waited for the new order, but we had to return the others. They arrive back to the office missing a sandwich (3 showing on the reprinted receipt which were still wrong, 2 received)and screwing up the others even more. He said he "chose his best sandwich maker to remake the order". We returned sandwiches, and got new sandwiches. If this is the best, I don't want any. The Unwich had bread, and missing ingredients. The 2nd sandwich had tomatoes (allergic), and the 3rd sandwich........nowhere to be found. Thanks Jimmy Johns for nothing. Still hungry and sandwich less. I work less than a mile from the Holcombe location. It took over an hour and 15 minute to deliver a sandwich. Called several times hearing the excuse that we were slammed. One of the calls, I spoke to a girl that was rude and said the driver should be there already and hung up. Really, Called 15 minutes later and was told the driver is one minute away. Upon arrival, the driver had at least 10- 15 order's in his front seat. Either this location needs more drivers or needs to hire staff that understand the word professional courtesy when answering the phone. read more

it's very disappointing when your older is not filled correctly. This is, by far, my favorite sandwich shop. And that's saying a lot because Quizno's is delicious. These sandwiches are simple. Bread, meat, cheese, lettuce, mayo. But they melt in your mouth. The secret is the bread. They have the most delicious loaves ever! Just the right amount of flake to the crust while still being incredibly soft on the inside. Combine that with the right meat and cheese, and you have eight inches of sandwich perfection, all for just $4.25 a piece. I love the store itself, too. It's clean and attractive. Also, every time I've walked into the store, I've found myself nodding and singing along to the music they play, whether it's the latest radio hit or an old favorite. But it will always fit into the broad category of "rock". The music, the friendly, young, extra hip staff, and the little signs full of attitude all over the store, allow you to pretend for a moment that you are "fighting the man" by buying a sandwich here. read more

Just a heads up, if you order this restaurant through Ubereats-they will contact you from their own phone number instead of the app because they are jimmy johns driver not an ubereats driver. They'll also be really rude to you if you don't know this and are waiting for notifications through the app because your phone was on do not disturb. Jimmy John's is great no matter where you are. Even though it's the exact same thing everywhere, it's still better than the other sandwich chains. They keep it simple and that's best for this kind of thing. For get subway with all their fads and new fangled health gimmicks they try and lure you in with. I really like Jimmy John's! They make their subs super quick (as in, your food is ready before you're finished paying) and they're consistently good. This particular location always seems to have parking available and the workers are really nice, so that's a big positive. I usually get the Slim #5 (basically the meats and cheese from an Italian sub without any of the other stuff) or a turkey slim (can't recall what number currently). Overall, not a ton to say, except that the food is tasty, this location is a winner, and I recommend eating here! read more

The guys at Jimmy John's tonight blew me away! They took such good care of my mom and I. My mom is a cancer patient with a suppressed immune system, so we have to be careful with certain foods, such as no rare meats and no raw vegetables. We asked about the roast beef and they held up a piece to let us know that it was a little on the rare side today, we really appreciated the FYI. We decided on the country club, which was delicious by the way, and they were so kind as to only put lettuce and tomato on half since we were sharing, and wrap the halves up separately. It's the little things, but all three young men went above and beyond, and were incredibly kind to us. read more

We get sammichs from here twice a week at least. The bread is perfect. They have day old loaves for .50 cents! Love the chips and the bags are actually full of crunchy flavored food, instead of those half empty bags of chemically sprinkled things at Subway. Its cool they have slim jims, which are plain sammichs at lower cost for the peeps who like their food streamlined -- or like my two year old who pulls it all apart to lick the sauce -- not this time sneaky. So it is a franchise, but I've never been in one that did not meet absolute superior service and standards. Some locations blend into their motife depending on the neighborhood flavor, some get very punk rock [Seattle in the U-Dictrict], downright bold efficiency [Downtown Chicago at lunch is show stopper for customers per hour] and laid back dirt biker delivery [Austin]. Its a really great brand concept executed at a superior level. The shops do tend to be "hidden" but since they focus mostly on delivery its usually not a problem. You have a choice of regular bread or french roll, and the ingredients are top-notch and come with super-fresh toppings. They are incredibly fast--a lot of times I'll order the sandwich, pay, and by the time I've picked out the chips they have it ready. This is the place to go if you are on a time limit at lunch. Plus they are super friendly--you get a choir of welcomes the moment you step in the door. The box lunch is an excellent value if you are catering a lunch. I first ate a jimmy john's when I was in Austin, when I found out they were coming to Houston I was in anticipation. Then when I found there was one just down the street from my place I was =) There are a lot of sandwich places these days but jimmy johns does it with their bread and mayo. Jimmy John's is good because it's simple. There's no special sauce, spices, or toasting option. There's no Asian-jerk-teriyaki-grilled-baja sub. There are only tasty sandwiches made with fresh-cut meats, quality cheeses, and crisp veggies. But the real secret is in the condiments. At Subway, the practice is to haphazardly squeeze a drastically-varied amount of mayonnaise or mustard onto your already prepared sandwich. This is the absolute least they can and will do, and really, when you get down to it, is a totally lazy approach to sandwich making. I mean, how did this become common practice? When did people stop at least taking the time to spread a condiment onto your bread? Enter Jimmy John's. At JJ's (I feel like I've been there enough times to shorten it), every sandwich is made with fresh french bread (or wheat, if you prefer). Condiments are lovingly spread, not squirted. I've even seen the preparers scoop out some of the warm bread-dough, so the mayonnaise really penetrates the bread-surface. It's really something special, and it makes all the difference when you're biting into the sandwich. My favorite is the Big John: "Medium rare shaved roast beef, topped with yummy mayo, lettuce, and tomato." I usually add provolone, some Jalapeno chips, and a Dr. Pepper. Perfection. Fast, ok sandwiches in exchange for customer service. I just accidentally ran over a misleading curb that apparently "happens all the time" to customers who drive lower cars. It took 20 minutes for one employee to come out and help me. I was working on the 4th of July at the Texas Medical Center, and being a Saturday I wasn't sure if any place would be open. Luckily JJ was open, and so I ordered a tuna lettuce wrap online. I made an account with JJ. They say they have "Freaky Fast" delivery, so I intentionally timed it. I completed my online order at 1:38 and the delivery guy called at 1:50 saying he would be in the valet area of the hospital in 4 minutes. It took me 2 minutes to walk to the valet area and the guy was already waiting for me. It actually kind of creeped me out that he arrived so fast. Thus from the time I ordered to the time I got my food was 14 minutes. Granted, it was a holiday and a Saturday, so there was no traffic to speak of, and I'm sure they weren't that busy, but still that was pretty darn fast. I'm trying to cut down on carbs, so I ordered a tuna sandwich without the bread. Instead of bread the tuna was wrapped in lettuce. I thought it would be messy, but they wrap it in multiple layers of lettuce to make sure stuff doesn't fall out. It was delicious! The lettuce wrap was crisp and the tuna itself was still fresh and cold (thanks in part to a quick delivery). I plan to order again from JJ for lunch in the future whenever I'm at work.
