It's been a long time since I've visited a Jimmy John's. This experience was unparalleled to past experiences. I ordered a Little John #3. All the customizations were completed to perfection. The tuna is remarkably better from what I remembered. My biggest critique is consistency. My first order was perfect. I came back a few days later and the bread was dry and I was shorted -protein. The manager Nino addressed the concern by providing me a sandwich on my next visit which was executed to perfection. If the consistency improves I will bump up to 5 stars. =COVID-19 REVIEW= Ordered Little John #4 online for 'immediate' pick up with a little customization on the sub (extra tomatoes, extra pickles, etc). It took me probably around 20 minutes between the time I placed the order to the time I arrived at the restaurant but my sub was ready to go. The lone cashier working behind the counter was helping another customer when I walked in, but the manager immediately came to help me get my pick up order. Both the cashier and the manager were wearing a face mask so kudos on following the Covid protocol. Once I got home, I checked my order and it was done right. I've ordered several times without an major issues. Usually they miss something on the sandwich items, but not enough for recourse. Today, the order took 50 mins for delivery and the sandwich was almost completely wrong except for the meat. My porch was dry and it was not raining when the order was dropped. The driver did not knock or ring the bell, but I saw and immediately retrieved. I thought this was almost a joke. The bag and receipt were dripping with water to the point where it looked like the whole thing was dropped in a bucket. Won't be ordering again anytime soon. read more

I'm not expecting exaggerated service like Chick-fil-A, but seems like everyone there has a fml attitude. You can fake it with very little effort. Hate your job? Have you ever frequented a business not knowing that next door down or two there was a diamond in the rough? Well the scenario here is I must have approximately 30 plus check ins two businesses down from here and did not know here even existed until I saw some flyers at building where I work. Jimmy John, Jimmy Dean, Paula Dean or whatever name is placed on a business or product somehow fails to attract me unless I have come into contact with the actual food. There were some bbq potato chips that got me started this way. Looking for a quick meal between the day job I remembered about the flyer and yelp/google map helped me find here. Wait, I am familiar with this area, I come here almost everyday, what? It has always been two doors down and I never noticed it? Well heck let me get another business try under my belt. After skimming through a few reviews and noticing more than a dozen 4+ stars I set myself up and went in. Friendly counter help, clean floors, smell bouquet of bread and semi loud music. Someone during the shift must have found a song they liked and cranked it up a few deci's oh well. I ordered some Night Italian Sandwich or whatever it was called with the bbq chips that I tried before. It did not knock me off my feet but I could genuinely tell you that it's a tad above Subway, Quizmo's etc. The bread was not the soft type but I guess I could describe as a pull apart texture, which is good. The ingredients did not overwhelm each other and nothing on the salty side. I forgot to mention about the speed of your order, I think this is one major selling point of Mr. John's ventures. As soon as I paid I could almost see my sandwich 3/4 way on a 3 man, er there was a cute little short hispaniclady in the middle, line. Wow, like my quick tip, this place puts McDonald's and any fast food time's to shame. The sandwiches here are cheap as in price, $5.50 will get you filled while there are smaller $4.50 options. A $5.50 sandwich with chips will run you almost in the $8 range. Seating, there seems to be seating for about 25 to 30 people so if your trying to get here during a lunch rush then you might want to bring you some extra napkins if you get here after noon because you most likely are going to be dining in your vehicle. Inside was clean, the restrooms were clean but don't expect to get in fast if somebody else is already there because it's only a one man deal, wait patiently outside or dig into your pocket or purse for your purrell. There is music here for your listening enjoyment while your eating but they had that baby cranked up. I walked to the counter and nicely requested it to be turned down a hair which they happily did, very accommodating but if you were hear at this particular visit at 4:00 pm on a weekday you would have understood. No flat screen to watch here, boo! In all, I would give this establishment it's fifth star had it had an oven to toast their sandwiches but let's just say here hidden is the fifth star, I really like here better than Subway but not as much as Quizmos (toasted sandwiches and that addicting batch 427 hot sauce). It saddens me that this is the umpteenth time that "Freaky Fast" is NOT "Freaky Fast". I don't work far from this San Felipe location, however, they certainly take their sweet time in delivering 3-4 sandwiches with sides. I order well before noon, do the online thing and make it as easy of an order as possible. It took them 56 minutes to deliver, this time. Anytime you call to speak to the manager, he is very gruff and quite frankly, he doesn't care. After this last time, I will send our lunch business else where. Funny enough the first thing I thought when walking into this Jimmy John's location was that it reminded me exactly of the Jimmy John's I lived on in college when a new Yelp friend, Bindi S., commented on my Yelp check in about existing on Jimmy John's in college. And that is why we are friends, we are spirit animals. This location off San Felipe, set back in the strip mall with ample parking, is much more serene than some of the other much-higher-traffic Jimmy John locations in the city. This one did not have a huge line unlike the other one on Westheimer where it takes forever-and-a-day to make it through the line; or the one downtown where most of my grey hairs come from waiting in line on days in court chiefly in 2010-2011 when I was trying to sample more in the community than eating at Treebeards all day erry day (not really since they were only open a brief window for lunch.) This JJ location had a very short, manageable line and they moved quickly. That is the point of a Jimmy Johns - their commercials are all about speed and more than any other chain, they actually live up to expectations often. This was just like the one I lived on in college because I would totes come back here all the time, their sandwiches are tasty, things move quickly, and that sandwich is in your hands at least (if not your mouth) in short order. The one in college had the sage wisdom and foresight to be located very close to my frat house - and to be open late - because nothing says happy drunk frat guy like a delicious sandwich in his hands at 2:15am. This one happened to just be next to a shitty grocery store I angrily walked out of since their pizza aisle is bad and they should feel bad about their terrible pizza aisle. There, I put the Dr. Zoidberg hex on that awful grocery store, that is more satisfying than the companion one star review I posted. The Italian Night Club is always a safe option, that vinaigrette comes in hot and heavy to let you know this is a sandwich that takes no prisoners and might stain your khaki pants if you are not sufficiently alert and vigilant with your napkin-sorcery. The Bootlegger Club, the roast beef is approximately 31 times more tasty and fresher than the roast beef you can find at other sandwichery shoppes of 'ye ill repute. And the Ultimate Porker I feel like was handcrafted with me in mind to round the ham-itude of ham with the bacon-osity of bacon to create a truly pig-licious taste in your mouth. If only we could be as sophisticated as Frank Reynolds of Paddy's Pub where we separate all ingredients and just build the sandwich in our mouth - that way you could artfully identify how much of your mouth should be bacon-fabulous in proportion to hammy-satisfying - or you could just let the Jimmy John's guy behind the counter think for himself (or herself as the case may be, whatever's inside of you) and create your masterpiece for you when all you need to do is swipe your credit and be on your merry way with your sandwiches. If you need a sandwich you could not have a better sandwich experience in this zip code. But seriously, don't come here because I do not want to have to wait in line behind you. If you do decide to come here based on the review I have written you grant me an irrevocable right of way in perpetuity to cut in front of you - no backsies on this deal. "Subs so fast you'll freak." That's the very appropriate slogan at Jimmy John's. What it neglects to mention is that the sandwiches are ridiculously good as well. Tied for my FAVOURITE sandwich place in all of Houston. I don't need gimmicky toasted subs or the ability to check off what I want on a brown paper bag. I want a fresh sandwich served by friendly people. Jimmy John's delivers that in spades. As I've mentioned before, for me, it comes down to Bread, Meat/Cheese, Veggies/Sauce. Bread: The white french bread here is amazing. Soft and usually baked several times a day. The real treat is the whole grain wheat bread that has sunflower seed sprinkled liberally throughout. This is the bread that I judge all other breads against. When I sit down at any place with a sandwich, Jimmy John's wheat bread is the benchmark and thus far, I have not found anything better for the price. Sure, I've had better artisan bread at fancy restaurants charging $30 for a sandwich, but this money, you can't do ANY better. Don't think for one moment that just because this place is economical that it is just ok bread. Sandwich places/restaurants charging 2-3x Jimmy John's cant' touch the bread. Meat/Cheese: Good selection of meat. Decent selection of cheese. From the looks of the slicer (similar to Kramer's from Seinfeld), Jimmy Johns slices their cheese and bread on site. While it is not as fresh as Lenny's which slices meat and cheese per sandwich, you know it hasn't been sitting there for ages swimming in some shrink-wrapped package of goo. Veggies/Sauce: Pretty standard. They'll put a mean guac on your sandwich if you ask them to. I use it as a mayo/mustard substitute. Overall, this place rocks. It is open late and serves up fantastic sandwiches. My favourite is a Beach Club on Wheat. If you're picky about what goes on your sandwich, try some of the slims that come with just meat and cheese. Give this place a try. It hits a sweet spot both in great sandwiches and price. read more

Came here because I was looking for a cheap places to grab a quick bite before leaving home from the Galleria area. I kept hearing all those Jimmy John's commercials on the radio and I teach at a dance studio and my students went to a JJs once and really enjoyed it, so finally I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I walked inside and it was dead. One of the workers was sweeping the floor and came behind the counter to greet me. I took my time at the menu until I finally told him that I've never been here and that it was my first time. He took advantage of this and really gave me a great explanation on how the menu works etc. Still taking my time debating after he told me everything, one of the guys behind the counter saw my indecision and gave me some of the customer favorites and recommendations. I took his advice and went ahead with the Italian Night Club, I believe is what it was called, and he suggested it with the spicy peppers, but I resisted the urge and went without (next time I'm gonna have to try it with though because it was good). After paying through and grabbing my chips, the guy who made the suggestions already had my sandwich done (fast service). The only two things I wish before I sat down though was that, one, I could have been given the option for wheat bread, but I think they only serve white, not sure. And second, I wish I had the option to either toast the sandwich or microwave it. I'm more of a warm sandwich kind of person. BUT I was sold over, the sandwich was great. And of course if I'm gonna try something new out, I'm gonna eat it as is with no modifications. Nevertheless, it was a great sandwich, very meaty, and full of flavor, even with just plain mayo as the spread. I was very satisfied in the end. One compliment I can give this chain is their consistency - there's a location near my house and I swear I can't tell the difference between a sandwich from there or here. Anyway - I order online and presto change-o! Sandwich appears in short order. It's not the fanciest thing in the world, the options never change and nothing is hot, but hey - you are just trying not to go to your afternoon meetings starving and ready to Shawshank someone in the neck with a plastic fork from the breakroom and this does the trick!!! Would you like some sandwich with your oil? What's the deal guys, I know this is Texas but I have ZERO desire to be a vegetable oil tycoon, let's be honest we all know it's not olive oil. So why was my sandwich swimming in oil, it literally pooled on the wrapper, and dripped copiously from the sandwich, NO ONE EATS THAT MUCH OIL EVER! Had to salvage what meat and cheese I could from this oil spill they call a sandwich, beyond disgusting. And last I checked "light onions" doesn't mean put half an onion on the sandwich? This place is hit or miss. I've ordered at plenty of Jimmy Johns, and while this one is not the worst (that's probably the MLK - Austin JJ), it's surely not the best. It doesn't appear that a manager is on duty because everyone is just hanging around. Not to mention the consistency just isn't there. They have a hard time accurately taking/making orders. Sometimes they're great, other times not at all good. One time I got the tuna sandwich and it had an aweful fishy taste to it. I suppose whoever made the tuna that morning just didn't really care. The commercials are true- delivery is FAST! I always order online and before you know it my sandwich is here, and made exactly how I specific online! I have been to this location about 10 times over our last 5 years or so. It's fast food so I really cannot rank it high. But for fast food I like this place. First of all it tends to be clean. It's very busy but I have never been in the store and it not be clean. Second they tend to be quick with the food. As far as quality I am not a giant fan of their sandwiches. Awesome sub sandwiches. They have such great tasting bread and you can pick some day old ones from the day before for 50 cents a pop. It freezes quite well. My favorite sandwich there is the beach club, lettuce, avocado spread, turkey, cheese, and mayo. The service is quite fast as well. the subs from this JJ is awesome!! finally found a JJ that still has it's quality, I'm happy. my favorite Turkey Tom was filled up with fresh crunchy lettus and sprouts. the bread was to the chewy side, in a yummy way, they dig out the center part of the bread so the texture of each bite was solid and not too filling. After eating a whole sub ( it's a lot but yes I can), I was full for hours but not feeling nasty. I took one star off, tho, because of the delivery service. it is indeed great to be able to order online and free charge for only two subs. but it took them more than 20 mins to get to my hotel room when we are only 0.5 mile away. and there were no napkins in the bag. read more
