Group of 6 for a quick lunch on a Saturday. Venue is on the smaller side, so it can get a bit packed and claustrophobic when busy. We placed orders at the front counter, which was a tad frenetic with a vendor dropping off deliveries with a large dolly in a small area and attempting to maneuver around patrons. I ordered my standard #12 Beach Club which is turkey, provolone, avocado spread & cucumber. Service was fairly fast for such an onslaught of orders during a brief period. Sandwich was predictably good and no different than any I've had at other venues in the Jimmy John's chain. Freaky fast, good value, reliable. We chose to sit in the back dining area at high top tables and counter height stools and the building is a long narrow property, sort of bowling-alley dimensions, and traffic flow was challenging at times to obtain orders, fountain drinks, access restroom facilities, and avoid stacks of just delivered inventory. Tried the cubano as a no which. I wasn't overly impressed with this a a no which, so maybe order this with the bread. I'm trying to reduce carbs and it's fantastic that jimmy John's has the no wich option, because eating a salad while driving a car is a no go for me. As someone that travels frequently, Jimmy John's is a go to place for a "freaky fast" dinner on occasion. I've actually never had a bad experience, whether delivery or pickup, but today was the exception. Maybe it was me. I veered off course and ordered something I don't usually get. I'm a #10 guy normally, but today I changed it up and got a #16. There's something about turkey and bacon that just hits the spot, unless of course it's drowned in mayo and only has to slices of bacon and turkey! It was delivered quickly, though. I can almost understand the delivery driver's refusal to deliver to my hotel door as requested. He told me it's policy to not deliver to individual rooms, but that's never been a problem in any other city for me. But, to deliver potato salad without a fork or spoon is an unforgivable sin. I'm in a downtown hotel. I don't carry a Swiss Army knife when traveling. Is it that hard to add some napkins and a spork for crying out loud?!?!. I mean I did add a 20% tip.... Okay, I'm done. I ordered the tuna Unwich (lettuce wrap) add bacon, peppers, and the kitchen sink! It was a nicely prepared wrap...they forgot my BACON! 45 min on delivery isn't very freaky fast either . I called and the comped my meal and gave me my next one free! That is great customer service . I am giving them a second chance today on an Unwich veggie add double bacon... I eat Jimmy John's ~maybe~ once every two years. Yesterday was my biannual visit. In an attempt to be healthy, I opted for the Veggie Unwich. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the ingredients used. The lettuce was crispy, the avocado was creamy and my added sprouts were plentiful. One downfall of this location was the staff. The guy working the register seemed to be at his wits end over the constant questions from other employees. There's either a lack of communication or lack of training because it appeared that some employees did not know proper protocol or what their job even entailed. Or heck, maybe they were new. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, it was slightly awkward to wait for food while the employees are berating each other and requesting to use the bathroom. read more

Jimmy John's makes a good sub. This place is better than most other fast-food class sandwich shops. I love their bread. Get the roll every time. All the major toppings are free, so I just tell them to pile them on. They have two types of onions. I'm not much into spicy food, so I go for the green onions. It typically takes about 10 minutes to get my order, so this place is good for a quick lunch. I recommend calling ahead though so your order is waiting when you arrive. read more

That said, I need to think to come more often, since (1) the bread is actually quite good, and (2) they have alfalfa sprouts! Who has alfalfa sprouts anymore? hey we all have our places right? And when I want a turkey with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and extra mayo, a sweet tea and a bag of BBQ chips I head straight to Jimmy Johns. I'm from Rhode Island and we didn't have any JJs there. It was a new experience when we arrived. Of course it's not Jeff Ruby's or Le Moo but it doesn't have to be! It's my local sandwich shop. It's consistently consistent - fresh bread, crisp veggies, think sliced meats and cheeses; and tastes that I just enjoy. And if I stick some BBQ chips into my turkey sandwich, no one is the wiser right? I just had lunch the other day. With the corona virus I placed my order online and when I got the message the food was ready I opened the door to find a rack full of bags, one being mine, which I grabbed and quickly left. I normally love jimmy Johns but I was really disappointed when I tried the Frenchie here. It was prepackaged and had been out of a fried Green for a while because the bread was soggy and the meat and cheese were warm and wilted. No one wants a lukewarm sandwich. It should have been cold. read more

I was a die-hard Jimmy John's fan until last Friday(9/13/19). I work near this Jimmy John's and have ordered here for the last couple of years that I have worked for my current employer. I also work in a building that has other offices who also order from Jimmy John's. Delivery driver are in and out of here all day long for the lunch rush. Last Friday, I knew that I wasn't going to be able to take a lunch and decided to order Jimmy John's because it's always fresh and always fast. So I placed my order and started my client call. Normally the delivery person will just come in and place the food on the person's desk who ordered or we get up to meet them if we aren't on the phone. This particular day, I wanted some ice water. I had water but didn't have ice. When I was placing my order, I was looking for a button to order a cup of ice but couldn't find it. So I just added a note to please bring a cup of ice with my food. The delivery driver gets here (have seen him plenty of times before) and he tells me that nothing is free at Jimmy John's and that I owe him $0.27 for my cup of ice. I thought he was joking in some way, but he wasn't. So I placed my client on hold and dug around in my wallet for $0.27 (gave him $0.30; should have asked for my 3 pennies back just to be petty). My issue with this whole situation is this: (1) If they wanted to charge me for the ice, they should have called me before it was delivered. What if I didn't have the cash (I paid with a card online) (2) As many times as they have delivered here, I think I could have gotten a warning for next time (3) I paid roughly $12 for a sandwich and chips, I would think that the $0.27 could be found out of that. (4) I can get courtesy packets of mayo (which is more expensive than the cup and frozen water), but my whole delivery was stopped over a cup of ice. So to be clear, the fact that I gave this location 2 stars has nothing to do with the food. All I am going to suggest is that you pick up in person and do not schedule a delivery. read more

Most of the time I come in and leave with what I asked for. One of the ladies made a mistake and had an attitude with me but did apologize afterwards. I was charged for food I didn't order and the manager was pretty rude as well. This was my last time coming here. The disrespect was unnecessary. Plus, this particular location is open relatively late in the St. Matthews neighborhood. Located at the intersection of Willis/Meridian/Shelbyville (it's in the old Edwards Photo building for those of you old enough to remember), it's easy to pop in and grab a sandwich when the mood strikes. I've never had an issue with parking at this location, as there is a lot out back and parking across the street near Plehn's and Meridian cafe. The young employees working here always have gotten my order right, and within a few short minutes I'm able to enjoy a tasty sandwich. It dawned on me this afternoon that despite that fact I get my workday lunch from my pal Jimmy John quite often, I've never been moved to write a review. Let's fix that... Jimmy John's is, hands down, the best option for lunch in my area. Granted, I work in a bit of a dearth for options, but that's not what is important here. The sandwiches I order from Jimmy John's are consistently delicious, reasonably prices and fresh tasting. And, most amazingly, the delivery is just so dang fast. So fast that once they delivered before I even had made the call. I exaggerate, but it is fast. And if you order a $5 sammich, they won't gripe about how cheap your lunch is and still rush it over to you with a smile. Between the service and tastiness of the fresh bread and sammiches such as the Pepe, Big John and Tuna - this is a wonderful place for midday dining and one that i must remember to not take for granted. read more

as another reviewer said, they won't deliver to the Marriott Downtown, because there's another location equidistant....except that one closes at 7. so when you call in, they say "oh yeah online you have a closer location, because we can't deliver past the 200 block on W. Jefferson". upon explaining that that one is closed, they say "yeah, we know, sorry". seems like if one of your biggest sources of late night traffic is Smart Person's Literally one block past your existing delivery radius, you should expand your delivery radius. read more

I've been to quite a few JJ's and they are all basically the same, but seems like they are starting to pull away from the small sandwich shop feel where they would always have at least one person greet you from the register. I travel a good amount for work and am always happy when there's a Jimmy John's nearby. This one was just ok--I think they deteriorate the farther away from Illinois (HQ) you get. Love Jimmy John's. This location has great service whether you dine in or take delivery. Online ordering is the way to go, if you get delivery! Super fast delivery literally less that 15 min from order to eating, sometimes. The only complaint I have with them is that it is guaranteed to come with 1 napkin. Every single time I order I get 1 single napkin, and 50% of the time the staple they put in the receipt on the bag is right through the napkin. So really you get 2 halfs of 1 napkin. read more
