I ordered the "Cinnabon Centers" because, like any reasonable human, I assumed this meant the soft, gooey, scientifically superior middle of the cinnamon roll. You know. The part we all fight over. The reason siblings stop speaking. The reason forks were invented. What I received instead? A cup of what can only be described as cinnamon roll edges. EDGES. The dry-ish outer spiral that society has collectively agreed is the supporting actor, not the star. Calling these "Centers" feels legally questionable. I expected elite, melt-in-your-mouth, fork-sinks-without-resistance goodness. What I got was the cinnamon roll's crust wearing a disguise. Were they bad? No. Were they centers? Also no. If these are the "centers," then I'm the center of the solar system. Would I eat them again? Probably. Will I trust the word "Centers" ever again? Absolutely not. Schlotsky's closed restaurants around Indianapolis (and Indiana), so it was a great surprise to see a new restaurant opened in Louisville. Hopefully this means it is coming back. I never miss an opportunity to stop in for a sandwich (and to relive past memories) whenever I pass a Schlotsky's while traveling. I would recommend you give it a try if you have not already done so. I have been wanting to try this place for a few years now, so I finally got the opportunity. I stopped in here about 1 PM on a Sunday. It was not too busy. I came to the counter and ordered from a nice young man and I got turkey club sandwich. I was very disappointed in this turkey club. The meat was very processed beyond rubbery. I was not a fan of the bread either. It was very soggy squishy, kind of bread, so I was not impressed with the sandwich. Nothing against the place. It's just not for me. read more

Ordered an original meal. Food was awful! always loved their sandwiches but this was terrible, the meat was thick and chewy, the bun was flat and tasted weird. Very little in the middle compared to previous visits. Started feeling sick about an hour after I ate. Also disappointed that this location said that they did not have the GF buns when I looked it up on the website menu before traveling 25 minutes each way to go eat. I love Schlotzky's! Sure, there are plenty of sandwich shops around, but only one that has Cinnabon! (It always smells SO good when you walk in there!) Any time I've visited this location (sandwiched, so to speak, between a Taco Bell and a Jersey Mike's) it's been a good visit. We're always greeted as soon as we walk in the door, and the order taker has been able to answer questions we (actually, my wife) might have. I like, too, that they no only have their own branded chips, but also about a half dozen different varieties. They also offer salads, soups, and some VERY tasty personal-ish sized pizzas. My personal favorite is the Albuquerque Turkey, which comes on this amazing jalapeño cheese bread that I just cannot get enough of. Seriously. This bread is A-STOUND-ING. I'm talking, life-changing astounding. When you get a Pick 2 combo (I always get a sandwich and a salad), the salad isn't a handful of veggies and a little bit of dressing, either. In some places you get what amounts to a salad sample...not at Schlotzky's. It's almost large enough to be considered a full salad, so if you're "I'm hungry but not quite starving", consider this to be the perfect option. We walked in for dinner last night and were told they were out of tomato and one other ingredient and the cashier left to check what it was. She came back and said they were not out of anything so we placed our order. I got the spicy turkey bacon bbq sandwich. My husband got a turkey bacon blue and Caesar salad. It was about 6:45 pm. Two of the three trash cans in the dining area were out of order. Upon leaving there was so much dirt and grime on the door to push out my husband used his elbow to avoid touching it. We left to go the movies. About an hour later my stomach started cramping terribly. We ended up having to leave our movie as the food had made me quite sick. I ended up calling in to work as I could not stay out of the bathroom. Disappointed and annoyed to say the least. Will never go back and do not recommend. read more

From the perfect warm soft sourdough bread buns they use to the lots of meats, melty cheese and veggies - I can always count of my ham & cheese original. In addition to this favorite, I also love their pizzas - I think the bread is what makes them so awesome. Having cinnabon options in there for dessert doesn't hurt either. "Schlotzky's.... Now there's a name I've not heard in a long, long time..." Such was my thought when I perchance met a gentleman at a different establishment wearing a black knit polo with "Schlotzky's" emblazoned just above the left breast. I drew attention to his shirt and commented that "I didn't know there were any Schlotzky's around these parts anymore." To which he replied he was the manager at the one and ONLY location still in the Louisville area off Westport near 265. I was a bit surprised as I am in that area quite frequently shopping at Meijer but I didn't recall seeing a Schlotzky's near there anywhere. Well, they are there alright. Local ordinances limiting signage make it nearly impossible to know what's there unless you can see the stores from the main streets or if you turn further in and do a bit of exploring. So yes, there is a Schlotzky's in Louisville- ONE! I remember there being several around town in the 90's. But sandwich shops have popped up like mushrooms on rotting logs in a summer rain-forest over the last few decades, making it hard to compete and keep stores open. This location is tricky to find unless you already know where it is by either Googling it or just happening to pass by. It's across the way from Target and near the defunct Chicago Pizza. I had not thought about Schlotsky's in years (mainly because I believed they were all gone) but the manager fellow I met told me a little more about the business (including various special deals) and I decided to check out this location next time I was in the area. Quick to bite on a bargain, the two-for-one pizzas on Wednesdays was all the bait they needed to reel me and my brother in. The store was clean (this was just prior to the COVID lock-downs) and the service was prompt and respectful with lots of friendly smiles. I also saw the manager (whom I'd met before) and struck up a brief chat. He was very friendly and expressed his appreciation for our coming out. It was lunch time and they were pretty busy so I didn't hold him up but he seemed willing to continue conversing and answering any questions I had about the operations as long as I liked. The place was busy but organized. Everyone, including the servers and other staff had a calm, confident and collected air about them. They knew their job, did it well and with a positive attitude. A well-oiled, friendly food machine. My brother and I had ordered the twofer pizza deal- he got veggie and I got the pepperoni with extra cheese. The normal prices are around $8 each, but on Wednesdays, you get two for that price. So, $4 per pizza is really a pretty good deal as the size and quality is well worth it. I'd say they are bigger than a "personal pan" type of pizza but somewhat smaller than a small from Domino's or Papa John's. For me, one pizza is a good-sized meal and may be large enough to satisfy two smaller appetites. The quality/flavor is really good too. If I can get filled up on good grub for only 4 smackers, then that is a good deal in my book any day. One caveat: The menu doesn't explicitly show some or all items (like ALL the pizza options... especially on the drive-thru menu board). The online menu might be more representative of their complete offerings. Just be aware that if you go to the drive-thru and don't see "veggie pizza" on the menu board, it doesn't mean they don't have it. Best probably to check their online menu and order from that. And if in doubt, just ask. They also seem happy to make special accommodations such as adding an extra topping to your standard pie with no up-charge. Just keep it to one extra veggie topping. Don't abuse the system. So, since our first visit back in early March, they've closed their dining room but have their drive-thru open pretty much normal hours. I've been going there every Wednesday ever since my first visit for the twofer pizza deal and they seem to stay pretty busy (at least on Wednesdays) through this whole virus mess. The pizza deal is so popular, there have been times when they have run out of the regular size and substitute the kid-size pizza's instead.. of course with the appropriate price reduction... but it's still two for one! It really is one of the best deals around if you can get out that way on a Wednesday. The service is really fast as well. Most times when I get there, at least 4 or 5 cars are already in the drive-thru line. However, it moves very fast and the staff is very friendly and polite. I've not tried anything on the menu yet other than the pizza. So my rating is heavily based on the pizza AND this particular twofer deal. But service should be just as good regardless the order. I personally have a go-to place for every day of the week based on who has the best deals on any given day. So far, Schlotzky's twofer pizzas has been my Wednesday deal ever since I discovered it. If you happen to be lucky enough to be in the area on a Wednesday, you really can't possibly go wrong with this deal. read more

Loved the sourdough bread and the chicken fiesta pizza is definitely different. For a chain store, pretty good pizza. They have a buy one get one free on Wednesdays which is worth it. But the pizza dries out quick so is best eaten when hot. read more

What makes Schlotzsky's different from every other sandwich place is the bread. I love their rolls. It gives the sandwich a more unique quality. The jalapeños bun is the best. Their soups are always tasty as well as their sandwiches and salads. This is one of my go-to places for a quick lunch or supper. I love getting an order and bringing it for lunch the next day. Pretty good food for a fast food place. The hubs loved his pastrami and Swiss on dark rye. It was a good size portion. My turkey avocado Cobb salad was massive! I wish I would have asked if they had a smaller portion. But it was good lettuce, no ice burg which is awesome. Not too much avocado but it had a lot of goat cheese which I love! The turkey I wasn't a fan of, it looked like they just pulled it out of a lunch meat container, sliced it up and put it on the salad. My husband and I used to go to a Schlotzsky's when we lived in Illinois but they all closed up. Moved to KY and found one. We had the large original (shared) and the brisketeer (brisket Mac and cheese). We were not disappointed. The bread is awesome. A first for me never been to this place before. My wife treated me wanted me to experience this place. I am glad she did. Since it was first time here I went with a small original sandwich with a bag of regular chips which is there own brand and were nice kind of like a kettle chip. Also just had a small soft drink. I was impressed with the sandwich which comes out hot and toasted. Had a great bun which they made daily. And it's a great tasting sandwich with lots of flavor. I signed up for there rewards program you get a small original sandwich when you do. And then you will be 7$ off after your 7 th visit. It will now be a new change from the burger or taco stop. We went to Schlotzsky's on Monday. I have not been there I awhile. I used to love to go there on a regular basis when I lived close to the restaurant. I ordered the combo, a half of the deluxe original sandwich, which allegedly had double meat and it had hardly any meat on it, and a cup of the broccoli cheddar soup. The soup was ice cold. My client ordered the roast beef sandwich and they did not give him a choice of bread. He is mentally handicapped and I should have asked them for the particular bread that he wanted, but, I completely forgot ..... ultimately, it was the responsibility of the individual taking the order to ask the type of bread that he wanted. When I told the person who took our order, assuming that he was the manager, that my soup was cold, he asked me what type of soup that I had and then walked off. He did not apologize for it being cold, but, acted as if my comment was bothersome. Also, every table in there was dirty and I got napkins and put water on them to wipe off a table so we could eat inside. Overall, not a great experience! read more
