Whoa, where do I start, I could rant for an hour on these jerks. I got someone else's order is the gist of it, but what unfolded from that is what makes me write this. So, nevermind who is at fault, did I pick up the wrong sandwich, if so, why didn't they stop me, they claim to have tried, but I heard nothing, and the general manager actually admitted that she didn't want to follow me out the door, probably too lazy I'm guessing. There was plenty of time to get my attention. After picking up the "wrong" sandwich which they had just called me to do, I turned around and filled up my cup with a drink, so I was literally standing right there for another 30 seconds. When I got back to work, realized I had someone else's order, I called them and the same boy that checked me out, answered the phone, after a heated exchange due to his behaviour he finally said to me: " you were in too big of a hurry for me to let you know that you picked up the wrong sandwich and it's your fault", and then hung up on me...twice because I called back to iron it out with this little kid. I called a 3rd time only to get hung up by the general manager. Pretty epic, no sorries, no refunds, no nothing except accusations that I was in a hurry, that I took the wrong sandwich, it's my fault, and a then, a dial tone again. Now, in my older days, this would not have gone so good for the rude little boy behind the counter, but I have come to realize that nature with cure him on my behalf. After all, some people need life's lessons more than others, he will get his. So, if you get the wrong order, or let's say, they claim you picked up the wrong order, and then tell you it's your fault, the general manager made it clear that the owner doesn't care either, and refused to give me the owner's contact information. Very yummy sandwiches with more quality ingredients than Subway and Port of Subs. I usually get the Italian Night Club with all freebies and hot peppers. So good! If your hungry get a bag of chips and a cookie to go with your sandwich. My favorites are the Salt and Vinegar chips and the Oatmeal Cookie. The Double Chocolate Chip cookie is bomb too, but I definitely prefer the Oatmeal 70% of the time. Been eating here since I was a freshmen at UNR, which was many years ago now. I recommend you eat here at least once. If your hungry with extremely limited time to eat this is the place to go. They lose a star because on one occasion the manager was lacking in customer service when we were discussing if I had remembered to grab my bag of chips that I ordered. read more

I work at UNR, and I get sick of the on-campus options...and to be honest, sometimes I just don't want to leave my desk! What's great about Jimmy Johns is you can order online, and even customize your sandwich online (no tomatoes, add cucumber and peppers, etc). Plus, you create a profile, so when I log in, it has my delivery instructions saved (necessary because I'm on a huge college campus, not at a house!), my favorite sandwiches saved, and my credit card information saved. I can order a sandwich in under a minute and it's delivered to me at my desk in about 10 minutes. I usually get one of the 8" subs. The bread is not my favorite (a french roll) - you can switch to wheat for an extra 50 cents, which I've never done, but maybe I should try it. You can add a drink, chips, cookies and/or pickles - and don't forget to check the box to have it cut in half like I always do! I like the Vito - it comes with plenty of meat, and all of the fun free extras that I want, and the option for some extras that cost extra. More than 1 hour for a pickup order. When I called them, I was told the order was ready for some time but they didn't update the "order tracker". When I got there, I asked about it and the employee told me they "don't have an order tracker for pickup orders", which is obviously untrue. After I got the sub, they updated the tracker. Jimmy John's is great for any number of reasons but my top two have to be the tasty sandwiches that are perfect for lunch and that my office is within their delivery radius. For me, there's nothing worse than getting completely caught up at work and then realizing it's 1 PM and I didn't pack a lunch. And since the folks at Newman's seem to know me by name, I like to switch it up and have lunch come to me on occasion. I love their #5 Vito sandwich on white or wheat (they are both good). And I LOVE that I can order online, customize my sandwich in less than 3 clicks and boom, it's on it's way. You can even add your tip right online too so there's no need to panic if you don't have any cash with you. You can specify your preferred delivery time within a fifteen minute range (11:00 - 11:15; 11:15-11:30 and so on) so if I have a quick break between meetings, I can order my sandwich early and it'll still show up when I'm hungry. You can tell they don't want an awkward delivery of "Here you go. Bye!" They try to make the encounter as friendly and inviting as possible. Additionally, on the rare occasion if something was left out, I just called them up and they were back at my door within minutes. That's dedication! FOOD = 5 Stars I'm always impressed with their selection. My usual, whenever I order, is the #16 CLUB LULU. It's basically a turkey and bacon club sandwich. Super delicious and I never regret ordering it, and sometime I spice it up by adding some roast beef. Love they have different options, and how you can add things (like extra meats or sauces) and say how much you want on the sandwich (Extra, Reg, EZ, or None). And some of those extras come free! ATMOSPHERE = N/A Like I said, I've never been inside, but based on how it looks whenever I've passed by, I would say it looks like a cute little deli environment, with small-medium seating. So if you have a group of like 10+, maybe make the choice of pick up or delivery! FINAL THOUGHTS Great place to go to for a light lunch or dinner, especially if you are looking to eat lunch in the Office (that's what I do). We all know that lunch break can go by fast. I absolutely love Jimmy John's. However the staff at this location is very rude. They don't ask you how you are, don't say bye. When ordering are very short and irritated. We got our food and ask for A plastic knife so we can cut our sandwich, because we didn't want to bother them. She said she didn't have any and said give me your sandwiches and left it there and took a few minutes minutes to cut it because she was irritated she had to cut it which we can you ask her to. This Jimmy John's has yet to disappoint over the 3 years I've been coming here. Their service is always "freaky fast" whether I come into the store or order delivery. They are conveniently located right next to UNR's campus which is great. The only down side is parking -- they share a small lot and limited street parking with Textbook Brokers and The Union. I feel like such a traitor to the sandwich gods. It's just...mediocre. I hadn't been there since grad school, and I think in the meantime my sandwich tastes matured and JJ's stayed the same. I live right around the corner from a local sandwich place that makes sandwiches like you wouldn't believe. And maybe that has forever ruined me, but if it has, I'll accept that. The bread at Jimmy John's is allegedly baked fresh, but mine was tough and hard. The insides of the sandwich were lacking in flavor (though fresh), and it just felt like a sandwich I might find wrapped in plastic inside a Chevron station. I can get the Vito there for the same price as the Turkey Tom, yet I have to pay an extra $0.70 to add cheese to mine. It just doesn't make sense. After hearing their commercials on the radio for over a year I finally tried a Jimmy John's today. I wasn't planning on it; I found myself unexpectedly in Reno in the middle of the day with not much time for lunch and I really wanted a sandwich, but I discovered my favorite place had closed down in October! :( Now what to do..? Pressed for time and options for sandwiches (I refuse to go to a Subway-type place), I remembered those funny Jimmy John's commercials, so I thought I'd give the closest location a try. Boy am I glad I did. It really WAS so fast I freaked. I thought I'd time it, just to see how fast it really would take, and from the time I walked in to the time I walked out was 4 minutes, 28 seconds. They finished my food before I'd even paid. I am not kidding. Dang that's fast. They get 100 stars for speed! Now you might think the product would suffer - you can't have things fast AND cheap AND good, right? Wrong! YOU CAN! There were two of us eating so I ordered two sandwiches - a basic one and a complicated one, to test out their meats/ flavors. I ordered: #2 Big John - $4.99 8" sub, medium rare shaved roast beef, mayo, lettuce, and tomato The JJ Gargantuan $7.95 Genoa, salami, sliced smoked ham, capicola, roast beef, turkey & provolone, onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, & house-made Italian dressing Both came on JJ's home made French buns (7 grain is available for other sammies) and both were outstanding. The bread was very fresh, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The meat was incredibly fresh and amazingly flavorful. No fake mystery meat here! It was sliced super thin, and on the Gargantuan, it was piled on super high. The meat was a far more modest portion for the Big Johns roast beef. I would order either one again in a heartbeat - the Big John if I were less hungry, and the Gargantuan if I wanted a sandwich for lunch, and the rest of it for dinner! I do have one tiny suggestion for JJs - use bigger tomato slices. My giant sandwich only had three minuscule circles of tomato; at first I thought they'd forgotten the tomato but I eventually found it. What was there was tasty, but they were just too small. I've seen other reviews that complain about this same thing, so they might want to rethink using larger tomato slices. Other reviews also complained that there are very limited fixin' options here (no arugula, no goat cheese LOL) but JJs is upfront about that. They don't claim to be gourmet, they claim to be good, better tasting than all the generic, boring Subway / Port of Sub style places out there, but for the same price. And cheap and good they are. If you're in a hurry and want a good sandwich, I highly recommend trying out your local Jimmy Johns. It'll be so good (and so fast) you really will freak. read more

I first had Jimmy John's in St. Louis, MO when I was visiting my sister. Holy shit. They are so fucking fast AND delicious! I go to Reno a lot during boarding season and when I found out they had Jimmy John's I had to go and grab at least 3 sandwiches. Bread is soft and sweet with a nice chew. Sandwiches are pretty simple and straight forward with shredded iceberg lettuce and tomatoes but they're just so good. Oh and their mayo is extra rich and creamy. Pay the extra $.35 to add peppers in your sandwich. They're tangy and slightly spicy. Get the #12 Beach Club. Turkey, provolone cheese, avocado spread, cucumber, sprouts, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Yesterday I ordered food via mobile to be brought to me at work. VERY convenient might I add! I ordered the beach I believe. It had avocado turkey and Swiss on it and I added bacon. OMG so good. I also added a pickle, jalapeño chips, and a cookie. I was only able to eat half of my lunch because it was so much food. So I'll have lunch again today! Tonight I was surprised with Jimmy Johns for the first time. I had the large roast beef sandwich, and my girlfriend had a turkey sandwich. Both came on a long white (sour dough) hoagie roll. The first thing I noticed was how thin the sandwich was, causing me to look for contents inside. My roast beef had 3-4 folded slices total, and was covered with nearly white iceberg lettuce and a few small tomatoes. Hers had almost twice as much meat as mine in it, but then Turkey is less expensive. When I learned that each sandwich was $5, it seemed like Jimmy John's had really skimped on the meat. I'm not even a big eater, but the entire roast beef sandwich had a thickness of one slice for the entire length. Hers had two, some overlapping, which didn't make me feel any better about our purchase. I'm not sure if it's the bad economy combined with high rent and cost of goods, but Jimmy John's is already on a downhill slide based on my first impression. Sadly, these two sandwiches were less appealing and more expensive than something from Subway. In retrospect, I should have paid two dollars more and went to Port of Subs. read more

I've eaten at this particular Jimmy John's around 15 times including deliveries. Today is the first time my order was on point. Every time I order, I add extra oregano, extra oil/vinegar and extra mayo. Before today, I never got any of them. Today, I finally did. Hats off to whoever made my sandwich today. Before they discontinued delivery past McCarran, they were four star because you could order a few sandwiches and have them at your door in less than 15 minutes. (Mind you we were spending about $1000 per year on sandwich orders.) Now we have to come down, deal with an absolute bear to park, and then go inside to get our own sandwiches. As expected, extremely fast delivery and in shop. However, I would love to see more to their menu. Only one type of cheese, no hot sandwiches, and only one type of bread. I used to love Jimmy Johns sandwiches but the blandness of everything on their menu is starting to turn me away. I will still get a sandwich delivered when I am feeling extra lazy but I am always worried about how it will turn out. Hard bread, ingredients slipping out, and even if I will find something in my sandwich that is not supposed to be there. One time I got a corner of a plastic bag in my sandwich and when I called to complain they said they would take back my half eaten sandwich and replace it with another. I did. This is my go-to spot for a quick office lunch on a day when I don't have time to pack my own. It is quick, consistent and they deliver. How can you beat that? I probably order from them about once a month and the delivery people are quick and polite. It costs me about $10 total, with tax and tip, for a beach club un-which (sandwich in a lettuce wrap) and a giant pickle. Yum! The food is pretty standard - decent quality sliced deli meat and cheese with the standard toppings. I do really appreciate that they have hot cherry peppers and you can add them for free. So tonight we wanted this place. We called about 1pm to see if they deliver to our place and they said they did. Called back to order at about 9pm and gave them our address again and now they don't deliver to us lol. Make up your mind. So we said we will pick up and paid over the phone. 10mins later we get there and order not ready and not even started and no one was in there so they weren't busy just had no clue there was an order. So they make the order after I tell them again what it was. Don't give them your CC over the phone as you have to show it and sign when you pick up anyways. Just a tip. So I asked what happened and the nice manager told me it was there fault but in the future when you order to ask for a manager so they will take the order and make. So not sure why they have the other peeps working there if the manager is saying to only give your order to a manager. She said the other peeps working see the order on the line and just throw it away. Jimmy johns is good but this is the 2nd different one the wife and I have gone to and both made it so hard to order and get the sandwich so we are so done with this place.
