Too many places are "outside their delivery range there are literally two within 4 miles but I'm "outside the delivery range"

I work at a hair salon nearby and always need something that can be delivered quickly and possibly eaten cold... Jimmy Johns is always the go to. I love the order online option... you can pick a time to have it delivered which is super convenient in case you don't have time to call and then wait around to eat your lunch. Yesterday, I guess they thought they took too long to deliver my sandwich (I didn't even notice) and someone wrote "Sorry for the tardiness friend!" on my bag. Maybe I'm a sucker, but I thought it was thoughtful. They are also super patient with our salon... 20+ people work there on any given day and we don't always collaborate our orders into one large one i.e. Jimmy Johns may come there 2-6 different times in one day. All in all, their delivery service is AWESOME! p.s. my only constructive criticism is to get some different cheese and bread options! read more

I had previously given them three stars for this location, but most of my issues are with the physical location. It is just not a place that I would want to go into. However, my work place has started to have them deliver to us frequently and my experience has been great. They are fast and friendly. I LIVE off Jimmy John's during finals week! I always order online and get it delivered to school, which makes it very convenient. They are always quick and timely and the individuals delivering have always been pleasant. There was one time where the delivery guy forgot to bring my drink and I told him to not worry about it and he insisted on turning around and getting it for me. I've tried Jimmy John's once and it was great! I need to go back again soon. When I was there the first time - I had the BLT sub - chips and a root beer and ate it at the little picnic table across the street at the park. My husband enjoyed his sub as well. The people working there seemed happy, and upbeat. The only downfall for me was the parking sucked and you dare NOT park in the parking lot belonging to the bar there on the corner!!!! read more

There are three very compelling reasons to eat at Jimmy John's: the speed, the bread, and the peppers. If you aren't interested in any of these three things, then this place won't stand out any more than a Subway or a Port of Subs does. First big reason: the speed. Often times they'll finish your sandwich before you've paid. If it's not finished by the time my trip to the soda fountain is complete, I assume there's been a horrible sandwich making accident and someone is injured. I don't think it's ever happened at the 9th street location. The one on Wedge Parkway is an entirely different beast. It's slow by restaurant standards; by Jimmy John's standards it's about as fast as evolution. If you're getting delivery, the experience is even better. 10-15 minutes, every time. Like clockwork. These guys are dependable, fast, and consistent. Second reason: the bread. It's awesome. It's flavorful, soft, and chewy, with a slightly crusty outside. Anyone who thinks bread is of secondary concern to a sandwich is insane, so this is a big reason to come here. They also make a 7-grain wheat bread that I hear is delicious, but I can't bring myself to skip the french roll and try it, so I'll never know. In all my time eating at Jimmy John's I've never had a bad loaf - they're always fresh and soft, never stale or overbaked. Third reason: the peppers. I don't know what they do to them or where they get them, but they have these marinated jalapeno peppers that they add for an extra $.23, and they're the best thing in that entire restaurant. Seriously. My standard order at Jimmy John's is a #6, no cheese and no avocado, lots of peppers and vinegarette. It's basically a pepper sandwich, and it's amazing. They're sweet and spicy at the same time without being hot, and I would eat them by the jar full. Add them to whatever sandwich you get or you're missing the point. Aside from these major positives, here are some minor ones: they use good Best Foods/Helmann's mayo, not Miracle Whip (ew) or weird off-brand stuff. All the vegetables are fresh and tasty. The soda fountain (at the 9th street location) is calibrated great and mixes good Coke. They have a good selection of chips. They'll add oil & vinegar and oregano at no extra charge. It's very reasonably priced ($5 for a regular sub). Here are some negatives: The ingredients they do have are kind of limited: only provolone cheese, no spinach, no romaine, no italian dry salami, no olives, no peppercinis, no sliced pickles, etc. The meat that they use is not the best quality, though it's certainly on par with Subway/Port of Subs/etc. Their bread is amazing, but they only have two varieties. No heated or toasted subs. Parking can be a pain. read more

The food is always good here; however, the staff is awful! At least from 2pm on, as I don't go any earlier than that. I am not expecting over the top customer service at a place such as this, but wow, are they rude. I'm almost never greeted when I walk in, & I almost always get rolled eyes or an attitude when I order (my orders are not complex or out of the ordinary at all, in fact they're quite simple). The only pleasant customer experience you will get (if any) is by ordering for delivery. The drivers are a breath of fresh air compared to the in-store staff. Jimmy John should focus less on murdering endangered species, & focus more on teaching his employees decency & respect. read more

Every time our office orders from here you better have an extra hour for delivery time. Orders are always late or wrong. When you call the staff doesn't care. Jimmy Johns, sounds like a bad character name in a Will Farrel movie. This is a great place to grab a sandwich. They pack them full of the right ingredients and flavor is not lacking and the fresh bread is tasty down to the last bite.. Sandwiches are made to order and made quickly. I love Jimmy Johns and their ability to get you in and out quickly and efficiently. They never skimp on the lettuce/tomatoes etc., and your sandwich is made the same way every single time. I knocked off 1 star because my boyfriend asked to purchase some of their wheat bread (SO GOOD!) and they wouldn't sell him any. O.k., this is it, the map confirms it...immediately south of Manzanita Lake and across from the UNR campus. This is one of the better chain sandwich shops anywhere. The on-premises baked bread is delicious. My favorite sandwich is called the Vito - appropriately oily, but also full of Italian meats and cheeses. Ordered in foot-long form, this makes for quite a meal. Interestingly enough, this chain has its roots NEAR. but not in, Champaign-Urbana, IL, the location of the University of Illinois main campus. Having spread their craft some 2,000 miles says something about how good their sandwiches are! Every once in a while, I still crave a Jimmy John's sandwich. read more

I love this sandwich shop. They usually have my sandwich made before I am finished paying the cashier. I have tried many of the different selections on the menu and haven't been disappointed. I like the texture of the bread and flavor of the fresh veggies. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have a stamp card as a frequent customer system. The four stars are due to limited parking and somewhat shady delivery drivers. When I have had my sandwiches delivered the drivers "conveniently" don't have change. Cool sandwich place. The sandwich style is very basic. Shredded lettuce, limited condiments, a few prepackaged ideas, but mostly focused on classics like a turkey sandwich, a roast beef sandwich, etc. I normally wouldn't care for such a place, but they do many things well. 1. They're fast, really, really fast. For their volume, they're at least as efficient as any sandwich place I've seen. They staff properly which is very unusual these days. Understaffing and overworking is the current standard. 2. The sandwiches are totally reasonable. I think on a long (thin) roll it's like 5 or less for a sandwich and it's enough for a decent meal for most people. 3. It's very fresh making it very tasty. The crafting is good and all ingredients are either bought and sold that day or they just manager quality very well. If all of these great features weren't enough, the place also deliver fairly late into the night. It's a unique sandwich experience and I've eaten sandwiches all over the place and am a huge fan (and an excellent sandwich maker as well--and I'm not talking about THAT way you perv). It's usually hit or miss here with their bread-sometimes it't harder than a well you can use you're imagination ;) other days like today, the bread is soft and delicous. Always fast to pickup and pretty quick deliver (if you're in their zone) if not it does make it a pain in the butt when you dont want to get up off yours. They are freaky fast!! The one time they didn't show up fast. I got a cookie! You can't go wrong with this place. I should have asked the manger his name at this location. Fast. Quick. Good sandwiches. I've eaten here 2-3 times a week for several months now. Almost every time, I am in the shop only a couple of minutes. Often times, they have my sandwich ready by the time I finish paying!!! The staff is friendly and polite. More importantly, they are quick and efficient and rarely make mistakes. I've only had a couple problems. Once they gave me the wrong sandwich even though they said the correct number for the sandwich I ordered when they handed it to me. Another time, they made a sandwich for the person who ordered behind me before making my own. Then, they totally screwed up and tried to give me the wrong sandwich (I think it was the sandwich for the person who ordered two people after me). I had been waiting for over 5 minutes. I glanced at the line and they hadn't even started making my sandwich! read more

The parking at this location was an afterthought if any thought at all. The facilities were clean. The help were friendly, attentive, and nice. Subway, Port of Subs, or Jimmy Johns I don't see much of a difference. I really don't have a preference whichever is closer at the time. read more

The food was great, however the bickering from the sandwich maker while the cashier just looked on was horrible. I always order a sandwich with lots of veggies on one slice of bread since the very yummy (and a special treat to myself) bread is thick and high in carbs with no onion or tomatoes. (Essentially a half sandwich. Which we actually said "Make it like a half sandwich") She was arguing with me. and keep telling me about the "Unwhich" (which has way too little carbs) and I told her "No. I want bread." I also told her I needed to eat some carbs just not a ton like you got with two slices of bread. She continued to argue with me, then finally told me I shouldn't be eating fast food and should only eat at home! I so wanted to say "Forget it!" and walk out right then and there!!! I was with a friend, Who was also trying to explain to the wench about a balanced diabetic carb diet (Which she wouldn't listen) and didn't leave. We paid for our sandwiches and I left. We both felt unwelcome to sit down and eat. We had intended on eating at the restaurant and spending a nice lunch together. Instead we got in our cars and drove away. Looks like if I want to get my fix for Jimmy John's bread I will have to go all the way over to Robb Drive or All the way down to south Reno! (Areas that take me forever to get to) Would this sandwich maker been happier if I just ordered the sandwich normally and taken one slice of bread, the onion and the tomato and thrown it on the counter instead of trying to save food and not waste it? I am sorry that I drew the genetic code for type 1 diabetes and that my body attacks and kills all my insulin producing cells and that I actually want to take care of my diabetes and watch what I eat. I am also sorry that I really enjoy Jimmy John's bread and that I sometimes (every three months) treat myself to a sandwich with that very special bread. I have encountered many people who don't know about diabetes and most are curious and want to learn something. Some are hateful (Usually those who suspect they are diabetic and are scared) and some people are discriminatory. This girl was the worst that I have EVER encountered. If she was working for me in my restaurant, and treated a customer of mine the way I was treated, she would have been taken off all activities that involved customer interaction until she was trained on how to interact with people outside her friend circle. It is very bad business to tell a customer they shouldn't be eating there. It is bad business to argue with special requests. You shut up, make the sandwich the way the customer wants (barring adding extra stuff at no costs) and hand it to them with a smile. (Even if you want to punch them in the face) I a bad experience spreads more quickly than a good one. For every bad experience 10-15 people are told, they will tell other people. For good experiences 5 people are told and many do not repeat the good news. Came in here to grab lunch. Was looking forward to ordering the #3 (Tuna Sandwich) after looking at the online menu. I was disappointed that this location does not offer sprouts as a substitute for lettuce. Also the guy who took my order made me feel very uncomfortable. He didn't smile, greet me, or make me feel welcome at all. I felt rushed when I ordered, even though there wasn't a line. This was the first time I've been in here, and I'm used to the sub-ordering setup at Port-of-Subs and Subway, where you order your sandwich and then pay. It was kind of awkward having to lean around the glass to actually see what toppings where available for my sandwich. I also I asked the cashier for a copy of my receipt and they ended up forgetting it, so I had to ask for a reprint, which the manager was happy to do for me. I also wish they offered a grill option - I like all of my sandwiches grilled. If they do offer it, then I wouldn't have known since nobody asked me. That's about it for my rant about the negative. Here's the positives: Firstly, the wheat bread they offer is REAL whole wheat bread, so grainy and delicious. They also give you Grey Poupon mustard, which is cool. The tuna is pretty good as well. When I walked in to Jimmy John's it was very loud and upbeat, which was great, but I just got my order to go. The sandwich was pretty cheap too - about $5.25 before tax. That's a pretty good deal for an 8" sub (since I got wheat bread, the bread was regular, slice-loaf style, though). I hope to go to Jimmy John's again - hopefully the cashier will be more pleasant next time! read more

One may ask "Where can you go wrong in a healthy tasty sandwich that is also delivered 'FREAKY FAST'" My response would be just that- the freaky fast part. Because with fast response times comes big mistakes. I would not be writing this review if this was just a one time mistake. This is the human world- and humanity lives off of mistakes. I get that! But a mistake two times in a row? Not only that but in a total of 4 months and 5 orders- three of them messed up? I think my hard earned money and time should be devoted somewhere else. Because maybe one of these days their mistake could mean my hospital bill and I certainly do not want that. An entire sandwich of the three sandwich order was forgotten the last time I ordered for delivery with this establishment. One that they did of course fix but what an inconvenience to have to wait for food to arrive when your family's food has already been eaten and inside their very full belly's! Oh the joys of eating alone!!! But then my most recent visit there was 3 cookies missing!! HOW do you forget dessert?! That too was brought back to us with nothing added for the inconvenience.. not even an apology. This all seems to back up my theory about mistakes being made when you are rushing an order. I called after leaving and they said that chewing gum while making others' food was totally cool with them. I ordered a sandwich WITH lettuce. I ordered it online, and I did not tell them to take the lettuce off. It did not arrive with lettuce. This is the second time this establishment has gotten my delivery order wrong. I ordered a replacement sandwich, and it was made incorrectly as well, this time forgetting the oregano and vinaigrette and also they did not cut it in half. This used to be one of my to-go places when I was in college, a few years ago. The guys who worked here were friendly and easy to talk to. I mean, who doesn't remember late night study sessions at the Getchell library accompanied by some delicious Jimmy John's delivery? Nom, nom... I happened to be around that area today and I just really wanted to get some Jimmy John's, I never had an issue with parking before, because I always walked there or got my stuff delivered. But I was driving today, all street parking was taken and now you can't park in the parking lot next door (not sure if this was the case before too.) I went around to the back of the building, next to the dumpster. I figured I could park here very briefly, as I remembered Jimmy John's being super quick at making my #6. Five minutes tops, I thought. However, after I parked, some little dude on a high horse drove up and parked behind my car, blocking it in. He got out of his little black Honda or whatever, and I asked him if I could park here, to what he responded with a face shake saying no, then just said "I'll move it in a sec." with a familiar tone, as if I was his mother or something. Went into the shop and left me there waiting for him to move his car, when I could have just parked there, and gotten my sandwich while he went to do whatever he went in to do. Needles to say, he was rude and condescending. I understand that parking around the University is ridiculous, but the least he could've done as a "customer service" representative of Jimmy John's is say "sorry no, you cannot, but you could try parking here or there" or something like that. He obviously didn't care whether I got food from them or not. I gave two stars because I still like the food, but even if I am in the area reminiscing about my college days, I will never attempt to visit this location again. I felt very unwelcomed. See kid, even a small gesture like the one you did today, can go a long way. Better make sure the gesture is a nice one. read more
